Lighter Blue cases without the Isolated Score, no longer the standard Twilight Time releases.

They apparently do offer clear replacement cases.

They are the ones Sony uses. Kinda thinner and they have that snap lock thing. I'm just going to replace them with the clear cases so they match up with the other Twilight Time releases.

So the Vortex cases then. Could have been worse, but probably eco-cases too since I don't believe Vortex is making any other type these days.

Thanks! But they make their new releases way more expensive to import for me. At least they should advertise their releases appropriately...

Hmm, interesting. I had no idea you were such an authority on the FBI. Posting your credentials in such matters and/or proof of your contention would go a long way toward backing them up. I mean, I'm sure you would never just try to pass off assumptions as facts, right?

Very happy to have picked up a copy of The Bravados during last year's big sale. The Bravados boasts awesome cinematography, some shoot 'em up western action that had to have been at least somewhat envelope pushing in its depiction of revenge violence, and Gregory Peck at his Gregory Peck-est. The story also separates itself from the average middle 20th century western with its themes about the desire for revenge and judgment - both here on earth and in the afterlife.

It looks like The Bravados can still be had through SAE. Stacked up against the last of the TT inventory that has moved over the last 9 months or so, it is definitely one of the best of the bunch. I strongly recommend it.

It's pretty common knowledge that post-9/11 the FBI doesn't give much of a shit about white-collar crime, instead diverting resources to terrorism. Two grand ain't gonna move the needle.

Uh huh. Nice try.

One quick visit to the official FBI web site reveals the following:

What We Investigate:

Business Fraud

Business fraud consists of activities undertaken by an individual or company in a dishonest or illegal manner designed to be advantageous to the perpetrating person or establishment.

Who should file a complaint with the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) of the FBI?

You may file a complaint with the IC3 if you believe you have been the victim of an Internet crime or if you want to file on behalf of another person you believe has been such a victim.

File a Report with the Internet Crime Complaint Center

If you are the victim of online or internet-enabled crime, file a report with the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) as soon as possible. Crime reports are used for investigative and intelligence purposes. Rapid reporting can also help support the recovery of lost funds. Visit ic3.gov for more information, including tips and information about current crime trends.

Yes, and they'd take a report and put it in a drawer somewhere, and someone might glance at it when they get bored.

If someone is scamming hundreds of thousands, they might start an actual investigation.

What they do in theory and what they do in practice are not the same thing.

I think the US Postal Inspector Service is the more appropriate entity: https://www.uspis.gov/tips-prevention/mail-fraud/

In this case, the fraud would be sending back wrong DVDs in place of more valuable TT discs.

It's probably the most Roman Catholic Western ever made, but in a really good way.

This is unfortunately very hard to proof. Sometimes, you just lose... and that sucks. One of the sad realities of life. Turn it into a "win" by learning from it so that you may help your future self and others. Nothing wrong with harvesting good karma

To be honest, if it were me, I would explore every avenue of recourse to try and get my money back and, just as significant, shut down the person from every trying anything like that again. Both the FBI and USPS would be worth contacting for an investigation, but I do think if the person is an inveterate fraudster, a warning letter from the FBI would carry more powers of intimidation. Anyway, I disagree that contacting one over another is more appropriate and I would definitely pursue both, regardless of any considerations of futility. The effort involved just to try to possibly rectify the situation would certainly be worth a potential reimbursement of $2,000.

The biggest problem I see with the transaction is apparently the deal was executed without any organized entity overseeing it, but just one on one as individuals. That would hamper any investigation because then it becomes one person's word over another, correct?

Good point. Like for instance actually placing trolls on the ignore list rather than just theorizing about it.

Wanted to ask... which other Twilight Time releases, like The Bravados, have great cinematography? I was drawn to TB because of Peck and the film's respectable rating on IMDB. I had no idea that the cinematography was going to be so good.

I'm wondering if I some other titles should be put on my radar on the merits of cinematography. I know about the James Wong Howe films and Leave Her to Heaven. Off the top of my head, I can't think of any others that left an impression. I'm sure that there are many I haven't seen, though.

Interesting conclusion, which I hadn't thought of and like very much.

There are some great vintage U.S. western TV series that had Christmas episodes which would very much compete with your designation of THE BRAVADOS, but as far as feature films go, I'm inclined to agree with you and really love your observation.

The Tall Men, Bonjour Tristesse, The Man from Laramie, Violent Saturday.

I guess I’m a sucker for CinemaScope, but you can’t tell me those movies aren’t gorgeous.

So it looks like The Man From Hong Kong wasn't a Fox title as I don't see it any mention of them on the box.

Either way, I hope we get some more titles soon.
