The other thing to keep in mind, if you're patient, is that when TT announced that they were closing up shop, nearly everything went on sale at SAE and stayed at the lower price for a while:
[Show spoiler] At some later date I guess they decided they'd sold enough at those prices, or at least were willing to sit on their remaining stock, so they bumped the prices back up. I'm skeptical about the possibility of them dropping that much again, but whoever's selling on eBay might have bought the titles at those prices originally (plus $4.40 flat rate shipping plus the $2 per item that SAE also adds as shipping). |

SAE is releasing titles under the TT name and there still limited to 3,000. I doubt they will be doing re-releases of their previous OOP titles. Many of the OOP titles are being put out by Kino so I would watch them to see if there's any OOP titles you missed out on.

MESSALINA (1960) 4/2021 SEVEN DEATHS IN THE CAT'S EYES (1973) 4/2021 THE MAN FROM HONG KONG (1975) 1/2021 VENOM (AKA THE LEGEND OF SPIDER FOREST / 1971) 1/2021 Don't know Unlikely -- assuming my understanding of the contracts were correct TT had the right to print 3000 copies of most titles and a 3 year US Exclusive Window. I don't think anyone has definitively said IF TT only printed 500/1000/1500 on their initial run of some titles IF they legally could go back and print the extra copies. Nobody I think has clarified if those contracts were ported over fully to SAE after TT shut down and if SAE now still has the exclusive rights to those titles that were released after June 2018 (rolling date and I'm not sure whether we ever truly knew exactly when the 3 year period started -- contract date, printing date, preorder/release date). Assuming those contract details were correct AND continued intact after the transfer of inventory AND an item released prior to 2018 was short printed (?? 1500), would SAE have the legal right to press an additional 1500 AFTER the 3 year exclusive period ended or for that matter even repress those items that are still inside that 3 years window ? I will say it is somewhat curious that SHORT NIGHT OF GLASS DOLLS was the last released item (OCT 2018) that was ever listed SOLD OUT. There were quite a few reports that TT was short printing releases toward the end of their run AND this it the one of the few sold out item still technically inside that 3 year window. The only other SOLD OUT items released AFTER June 1, 2018 are from AUGUST 2018 Gloria (Limited Edition to 3000) Rapid Fire (Limited Edition to 3000) OTOH -- if you're a business, how anxious would you be any of those later items that took essentially forever and massive discounts to sell out? I will make my own assumptions that the Faster Selling items from pre 2015-2016 were all likely pressed at the full 3000 initially and wouldn't be eligible to be reprinted anyway without renegotiating an entire new deal with the studio (plus Julie Kirgo, etc for the bonus material) Last edited by hariseldon; 06-03-2021 at 05:49 PM. |

I bought a copy, and then a couple weeks later, I realized that 50+ copies were still available at SAE, when I could swear they weren't there before, since I did cross check SAE against the TT list when deciding which titles to focus on trying to get when the limited quantity titles went live on TT, so TT gave me a refund to price match SAE's current price. One could deep dive this further, but yeah, from my point of view something interesting happened with that one, possibly SAE discovered more inventory they had forgotten. |

SAE that wasn't the usual SOLD OUT notation -- something of the nature Temporarily Unavailable to Order or similar that made at least an impression that this wasn't a permanent OOS situation. A post I made from Mid July that mentioned the unusual wording https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...ostcount=34872 Anastasia sold out and reappeared a number of times -- more commonly just on the TTM site. Not sure if they were pulling stock in from offsite warehouses, buying back stock from SAE, finding old boxes in the back of the warehouse that were buried behind other boxes, etc. Short Night is the first item that I'm aware of that has reappeared since the end of the Sale and TTM officially sent all stock to SAE. And esp. the only item I'm aware of that sold out after the sale ended and then reappeared 6+Months later. Maybe nothing, maybe something Last edited by hariseldon; 06-05-2021 at 04:52 PM. |
