The arts interview series was called Scene by Scene, and Jane Russell was interviewed by Mark Cousins. It originally aired on UK TV (on the BBC) in the late nineties (am going by the airdate stated on the IMDb page for this edition). The only other edition of this series I've seen, was where Cousins interviewed Sir Sean Connery.

And yes, can't argue with what you say, Jane Russell was a striking redhead.

I've searched online and can't find anything, but is there perhaps any coupon codes working for Screen Archives for orders? There's 2 Twilight Time Blu-rays I want. My Cousin Rachel (1952) and Sayonara (1957).
Thanks.

SAE is having their Twilight Time sale right now and they mention a code but I don't see it anywhere in their announcement? Please tell me I'm not the only one not seeing it.

Every time I think I'm done, and the ~100 TT titles I have will be all I want, I have a thought and look through the lists again. We're seeing some titles rereleased by other boutiques, so the least likely to return would seem to be Fox titles. Definitely the driver. It's the precursor to drive, but it does have a 4k steelbook if you import. I've seen several of the others but that's the one that sticks out to me.

Possibly rapture.

Black Widow (1987) (I never tire of watching this)
Julia (another film I never tire of watching and still as fresh was it was in 1977)
Royal Flash (a Richard Lester film - need I say more, lots of fun)
Next Stop, Greenwich Village (One of Paul Mazursky's best films - Shelley Winters in a major supporting role is just great)
Sexy Beast (though if you are region free I'd go with the open matte Region B UK release)
The Driver (one of Walter Hills best films, though there may be better editions from other labels around)
Conrak (beautifully understated film)
Peyton Place (if you love 50's soap opera)
Zadoz (a real oddity and not everybody's cup of tea, but I like it and it is John Boorman)
The President's Lady (easily my favourite Heston/Hayward collaboration)

Our Man Flint/In Like Flint (Great James Bond spoofs with that Go Go 60's vibe)
The Seven-Ups (One of the greatest car chases filmed and not a bad gritty NYC cop movie)

The thing about the Twilight Time edition of The Driver, though, is that it seems to be the only Blu-ray release that has the 89-minute US theatrical cut. All the other releases have the 91-minute uncut version. (Let's not talk about the extended US TV cut for now, because that's beside the point here.)

Normally I'd prefer the uncut, and I did double-dip the old UK Studio Canal edition when I first realized this difference, but after comparing the two, I decided that the 89-minute cut is better. The main difference is a 2-minute dialogue scene between the driver (O'Neal) and the player (Adjani) where they talk about a song from a radio and her motive et al, which feels unnecessary and undermines the coolness of the two and the film itself a little bit.

That, and the beautiful cover art using the original poster design. Seriously, all the other releases look ugly, except, of course, the recent Australian Imprint release in their Directed by Walter Hill box set, which also used the original poster art.

Funny thing is that I was just thinking about Twilight Time and looking through the titles I have. Some have been put out again by various labels, which is great. I wonder if anyone would do a 4k of Blue Lagoon. Though I'm not sure who owns the rights...

Here's what I don't already have (or definitely know I don't want); any hidden gems I've overlooked and should bother to seek out?
- Bandolero: It has everything you want from a 60s Andrew V. McLaglen western starring James Stewart, Geroge Kennedy, Raquel Welch, and Dean Martin.
- Black Widow (1987): An underappreciated gender-bending neo-noir with Conrad Hall's fantastic cinematography.
- The Blue Max: It has some of the best dogfight sequences ever put on film and that alone it's worth it.
- The Driver
- Our Man Flint / In Like Flint: I think the James Bond spoof fame actually makes it harder to appreciate the brilliance of these, especially the first one.
- Julia: Frankly I don't think this is a well-made film, but yeah, I can watch this over and over again mainly for the performance of Jane Fonda and Vanessa Redgrave.
- Next Stop, Greenwich Village: Yes, it is one of Paul Mazursky's best films.
- Rapid Fire: As a Chinese-American action star, Brandon Lee really could pick up where his father left off.
- The Seven-Ups: Another 70s gritty cop movie with a visceral car chase produced and directed by the producer of The French Connection.
- Sexy Beast: Unlike Aunt Peg, I urge you to pick this for its original aspect ratio, especially since the TT edition also has that open matte version as well.
- Stagecoach: Not a masterpiece that the John Ford film is, but still a darn good 60s western.
- Warlock: A real hidden gem with a peculiar and exciting dynamic between Richard Widmark, Henry Fonda, and Anthony Quinn. A must for all the classical Hollywood western fans.

The Best of Everything - soapy melodrama about 3 working women in 50s Manhattan. This one felt pretty ahead-of-its-time; I was surprised how much I enjoyed it.

The Blue Max - interesting spin on WWI military drama. As others noted, worth watching just for the Cinemascope visuals (especially the aerial scenes), but it also features a great score by Jerry Goldsmith.

Rapture - one of my personal favorites from TT. A surreal coming-of-age story, anchored by a great performance from 15-yr old Patricia Gozzi as a troubled teen that falls for an escaped convict.

There are some real gems in the TT catalog that I didn't fully appreciate until the label was already in decline. It's sad so many of these Fox titles may never surface again.

I appreciate the suggestions so far!

I suppose I should have added a caveat: since most of these won't be available from SAE anymore, would you still recommend the title at market prices... $40? $50? Some of these are double that.

I have some titles in the cart, just waiting for another sale. That time of year so it shouldn't be long hopefully.

Default special place in cinema

Thank you for compiling this useful information about Twilight Time releases and updates, especially with the recent transition to Screen Archives Entertainment. Knowing about the limited editions, exceptions, and region locking is incredibly helpful for collectors like me.

It's sad to see some titles having fewer than 50 or 100 copies available, as they hold a special place in cinema history. The intermittent release schedule post-transition has indeed made it unpredictable, but hopefully, we'll see more exciting releases in the future.

Appreciate the update and keeping us informed about the ever-evolving landscape of Twilight Time/SCE releases!
