Does Sandpiper provide booklets similar to Twilight Time, or do their releases come barebones?

Then someone needs to wake a lot of directors up from their graves to get their films out of Disney’s hands.

Barebones. Usually lacking any extras as well.

The Boorman film I really want at this point is The General. Such an amazing film. Not sure who has the rights to that and if it's still Sony?

Kind of disheartening that none of his films have yet received the 4K treatment. It's criminal that Excalibur and Deliverance are still MIA.
What I didn’t get about the last Blu-ray of Excalibur is that even though it looked awful, per the reviewer it looked exactly like print they saw originally.

As batshit as this sounds, the first Boorman film to hit 4K will be Exorcist II: The Heretic, most likely from Shout, and that’s based more off the title than the strength of the film. What a shame.

A couple of years ago, you could have written to him (yes, they still deliver snail mail in the physical world), but he sold his home in Wicklow and apparently now lives in Surrey.

The Screen Director's Guild of Ireland almost certainly still has contact information, and while they would not give it out, they might forward on communications to him.

People can say what they want about Twilight Time, but they put out a good chunk of Fox catalog titles that weren't getting released at that point (the 2010's), and definitely aren't getting released now that Disney owns Fox stuff.

I agree. I remember skipping Fox titles like Demetrius, Titus and Sexy Beast because they used ancient DVD era HD masters, stupidly thinking something better would come along soon. Yeah, that something was being sold to the Galactic Empire...I mean Disney.

Hey guys, of the Twilight Time titles still available at SAE, which ones do you guys recommend. Are any “must haves”?

Looking through the releases Screen Archives still have, I already have the following:

Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter?
Black Widow
Let’s Make Love
The L-Shaped Room

Films that I have from other labels:
Underworld U.S.A.
Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice
Alice
Bananas
September
Suddenly, Last Summer
Another Woman
The Bullet Train
Stardust Memories
The 3 Worlds of Gulliver
The Chase
Shadows and Fog
A Midsummer Night’s Sex Comedy
The Snake Pit
The Whole Town’s Talking
The Last Hurrah

Most of the above are from Powerhouse Films, with a few from Arrow UK (obviously I have the three Arrow Woody Allen box sets).

I’m not above double dipping for a Twilight Time release if the isolated score is exceptional. I’m that weird guy that buys multiple copies of the films I really like, or am studying, to get as many extras as possible.

I’m shopping on EBay for a copy of The Young Guns because dummy me thought I already had it, and forgot to grab a copy before it went out of print. I’m kicking myself for that brain fart, and don’t really want a repeat of that mistake.

I have a few releases that look like no brainers, so I am certain to buy these:

My Cousin Rachel
Anne of the Thousand Days
Husbands and Wives
From the Terrace
The Talk Men
Whirlpool

But I sure would appreciate some input from you all.

Thank you!

Personally, I love Behold a Pale Horse (Fred Zinneman never really made a bad movie) and Melvin & Howard

Pale horse is light on special features, and I could see Melvin & Howard getting a rerelease, but maybe not with an isolated score?

I second Behold a Pale Horse, and even more second that Fred Zinnemann never made a bad film. I don't even think he's made a mediocre film—everyone of them is either good or great (or a masterpiece).

Warlock is my second favorite TT release (next to Emperor of the North which is OOP). I consider it a must own even if the Western genre isn't something your into. Tremendous performances from Widmark, Fonda and Quinn.

Thanks for the responses, everyone. I truly appreciate your all taking the time. I love this forum, and being able to interact with so many friendly, knowledgeable collectors.

Before I made my post, I had the following releases on my “to buy” list, but wanted to wait to see how you all felt about them.

Anne of the Thousand Days
Husbands and Wives
Stanley & Iris
I Could Go On Singing
From The Terrace
Kings Go Forth
The Tall Men
Whirlpool
Behold a Pale Horse
Hussy
Warlock
The River’s Edge
Yanks

I’’ll do some more investigating after looking at your suggestions.

I should have a little bit of time before any of these go OOP, so I will get to them in the next month or two.

Being region free has been a real boon to my collection. It’s also forced me to be much more vigilant where prioritizing purchases is concerned, as so many of the titles I want-especially the box sets-are limited editions.

A few I really like that are still available:

The Tall Men
The Big Fix
Three Coins in the Fountain
The Bravados (This one is a masterpiece IMO)
The Pirates of Blood River (This one is available from other labels though)
Suddenly, Last Summer (Same with this one)
Broken Lance

I love Tony Curtis and Natalie Wood (Frank is all right) but hated this film. It looks cheap, it is lazy and wastes the talent of everyone involved. I watched it once and traded it in.

I most definitely am. And yes, she really could belt it out. Judy was born to be on a stage, and in front of a camera. But a part of me will never be able to forgive how Louis B. Meyer treated her.
