It amazes me that it has almost been a year since The Big Heat has been available and it has only sold around 2,500 copies. To me this has been my personal favorite Twilight Time release so far, and besides my personal opinions set aside it is regarded as one of the best Film Noirs of all time. Who is sleeping on this?

Yes, I figured this to be the case. It explains why some folks were so adamant, during the never-ending FRIGHT NIGHT discussion, that the cart game doesn't work or is, at the very least, not 100% accurate all of the time.

Where did you hear about this? This is even though they've sold out of all copies of Christine? If this is true, then I'm in.

it was posted on TT Facebook..

Quote:
Friday, March 8th - now that SAE have had a chance to process all the orders for CHRISTINE, as normally happens there are cancellations -- this means a limited quantity of CHRISTINE will be available again for sale. These will retail at the usual $29.95 and will be limited to one copy per customer.
Also, we are very pleased to announce that actor / director Keith Gordon will be signing a limited quantity of promotional copies. The autographed copies will be given away FREE to any customer who purchases $100 dollars worth or more, of TT product. ($100 dollars equals one free copy, $200 dollars equals 2 free copies and so on.)
Both the signed and unsigned regular retail copies will go up at 4 pm EST. (Set your alarm clocks!)

I don't feel this is accurate at all. except for any titles under 500.
especially regarding Pony Soldier having that few remaining copies compared to Pal Joey or The Blue Lagoon. I don't see that in a million years.

I can only speak for Blue Lagoon, but this is what I can say:

When Blue Lagoon was up for preorder (shortly after the NOTLD fiasco), they had changed it where you were unable to see the number of copies available until the titles shipped (it wouldn't change from 3000 until then). However, SAE has that bar on the right side of the screen where titles are ranked according to number of sales for the week. During the preorder period, Blue Lagoon consistently ranked at the top of that chart. Lost Horizon titles ranked 2nd-4th most of the time and Beloved Infidel ranked towards the bottom for most of it. When the orders shipped and the numbers became available, Blue Lagoon had like 2200 or 2300 copies left while the others were like 1600 and 1800, or thereabouts. Obviously this was incorrect based on the sales rankings, which I have no reason to think are inaccurate. TT has spoken before about storing some of their stock off site and the rest at SAE, so my guess is that the cart numbers reflect the amount SAE has in stock. Thus, it is my guess that while Blue Lagoon started counting down from 3000, the other two films for that period started at 2000. I think most of the more recent films are numbered this way, while some of the older releases obviously aren't.

I've also noticed that some titles (Bell, Book, and Candle, for instance) seem to stick at the same stock number for a long period of time even though members post about ordering it. I'm guessing that they freeze their stock numbers to incorporate new stock rather than necessarily raising the number listed, if that makes sense.

Crazy to see that a fairly recent, critically acclaimed movie with big stars like As Good as it Gets hasn't even sold 2000 copies yet. But then again, a lot of people probably just don't know about it or are holding out for a wider release for under $30.

There's also a mention here regarding the best selling list - and that is pretty much during the off weeks at SAE a purchase of just a few units can move a title up or down that list dramatically, if they're to be believed which aounded reasonably described when I read it (can't find the post perhaps someone can).

Default Buying Flint - "Our Man" without "In Like"

In Like Flint was the sequel and - surprise - just not quite as good. Also, some could be testing the waters by buying the original and then verifying (picture, audio, Twilight Time) quality.

I ordered the pair, of course. Party at my house 12 March with Christine and the Flint brothers!

Beloved Infidel will take A LOOONG time to sell out I think. Most of those copies were probably sold on release day and it's been sitting stagnant since. I'd be FAR more worried about something like The Big Heat selling out soon. But in any case, go ahead and buy now, so you save yourself some trouble later.

It's only an accurate representation of inventory that SAE should have on hand and not how many are actually left. The Big Heat was previously down around 170 last year but then SAE added an additional 1000-1500 units to their inventory and the number went back up. Rapture was down to 297 around that same time but now it's been showing approx. 2200 copies. You can only assume they have atleast that many copies left.

Not even that one is accurate NoirFan. When the under 500 notice for The Egyptian went out before Christmas, SAE's cart still showed nearly 650 available. Around that same time Nick Redman dropped by and confirmed its actual total was considerably less...already under 500 as their notice stated. Since this title has been slowly but steadily counting down from 650 ever since, without any major correction and drop, I don't think that current number is safe to assume...its actual total is probably at least 100 to 150 less.

FTR, there were major corrections in both Fate is the Hunter and The Flim-Flam Man just before they finally sold out too.

Sorry to ask a money question, but does anyone know when TT charge for these discs? I thought it was on shipping, but there's been exactly $40 missing from my account ever since I ordered it but they've not taken it. I know B&N do a similar thing from time to time when the put a hold on funds, but they've only ever done it for a day or two with me and then released it again until shipping.

Not an issue, really, just wondered if it was just me.

that's what they do--place a hold on funds--that resolves upon shipping.

Ta for that, so they might as well just charge on order then. It's bad for my OCD.

When did you order and what payment method did you use? As has been previously stated, when using a CC, an initial temp charge is placed on your account to ensure you have the available funds at the time of order. Depending on your bank it could take anywhere from a few days to a week for that temp charge to fall off. Then upon shipment SAE will process the card for the full amount and your account will reflect the actual charge.

This is how it works for a lot of merchants with some exceptions such as Amazon.

this is an interesting question.
from what I understand it should be Friday, March 1 at 4 pm ET.
(it is being released 2 weeks after The Fury, so I added 2 weeks from the date of that pre-order)
