I hope TT has enough copies left of HARD TIMES by the time the preorder for THE DRIVER goes live. I never thought this title would approach a sellout so quickly. And judging by the response to THE DRIVER that title will also sell briskly, maybe more so than Hard Times.

On there Facebook page they said they will have 100 signed copy's of Hard Times when The Driver goes on sale. It will be free if you buy $100 worth of items.

Quote:
With the pre-order next Wednesday, July 3rd at 4 pm EST, of Twilight Time's Blu-ray release of Walter Hill's classic THE DRIVER, 100 copies of HARD TIMES signed by the director will be offered simultaneously as a promotion. Purchase $100-plus of Twilight Time product to receive one FREE signed copy of HARD TIMES while supplies last -- offer strictly limited to ONE signed copy per customer.

It's clever really because there's 3 titles I'm interested in but they only come to $95, so really you'll have to spend $120 minimum unless you intend to buy 3 $35 titles, which is unlikely.

Dont feel bad I ordered 9 TT titles about 2 weeks ago and that titla came to near $300.00

I was trying to catch up on titles but with the current 2 Pre-Orders I am now 11 Behind.

Right. I had Leave Her to Heaven and Major Dundee in my cart, but The Driver was the only other title I was planning on getting (eventually). Our Man Flynt looks like the next (eventual) sellout, with 500 copies left at TT (plus Amazon's stock), so maybe I'll add that to resell later. Then again, I don't really care about a Walter Hill autograph, so maybe I'll pass altogether.

They cost $30. I doubt shipping counts, but even if it did, shipping is not $5 per title.

To paraphrase Captain Renault from Casablanca: "I'm shocked...shocked...to find that Marketing is going on here."

So let me see if I understand this correctly...TT and SAE are steering you towards buying at least 3 or 4 of their high quality, limited edition Blu-rays, and as an incentive you will receive - for FREE - their rave reviewed Hard Times disc, signed by the director of the film, whom, in this case, happens to be one of the most elusive and reclusive talents in the industry unaccustomed to laying his siggy on anything other than a contract (a rarity in itself)...thus a very gracious, fan-friendly, highly collectible offer...and there's somehow a problem with this?!?

By all means, avoid this blatantly cynical 'freebie' offer...pleeeaasssse!

Since Twilight Time has access to the Sony/Columbia library, I'd love to see them release:

The Trouble With Angels (Hayley Mills, Rosalind Russell)
Head (The Monkees)
It Happened One Night
Mr. Smith Goes to Washington
Lost Horizon

If you mean the 1970s Lost Horizon, Twilight Time released it late last year.

Head was given to Criterion and is available in their BBS: America Lost and Found set, along with six other films from the late 1960s, including The Last Picture Show and Five Easy Pieces. It is curretnly not available as a stand-alone title, and knowing Criterion, likely never will be.

One of my great dreams would be for someone to find the missing footage in some decent form for Lost Horizon. I'm thankful they tried to cobble it together for the DVD release but the OCD in me wants all the scenes included.

The times I've ordered TT releases it's been on a Friday at 4pm EST, but now it looks like they are on Wednesday at 4pm EST now. Next one is this Wednesday the 3rd.

Also, it's usually about 3 weeks or so before the release date when the pre-orders go up.

I like the Blu releases and the CDs...but I am really pissed off at the online subscription to Film Score magazine. Several months back, I phoned and asked for it to be canceled immediately and in that call I told them I had already asked for it to be canceled months before that. So, now, while looking at my charge card bill, I see they are STILL charging me every month. I called them again just now and they said I would have to send an email to the editor...which would be Ted. I did so, saying I want to be paid back those months. aWiting for his reply.

Point of story...check your credit card statements.

I'd also suggest calling your credit card company and cancelling any further charges from them explaining the situation.
Could work?
