No, that's definitely not one of the mediocre ones. I plan to get that along with The Wayward Bus and Titus (in spite of it being infamous for its PQ) and probably a few others that I haven't decided on yet.

Besides, getting a Blu-ray that hasn't even been released on DVD yet just holds some kind of appeal with me.

If "Hard Times" were part of the sale I'd be game for blind-buying that. I guess I can live without it though much as I dig Charles Bronson I don't know if I'd like the film enough and get enough repeat viewings out of it to drop the usual $35 it costs for non-sale titles.

Jane Eyre is probably my favorite in that list, having seen it twice already.

I would absolutely recommend Experiment In Terror. It's excellent and very tense. A lot of people have been underwhelmed by The Other, but I thought it was very well done. I also own Alamo Bay, The Disappearance and Royal Flash. Alamo Bay was a good movie, not my favorite, but still very good, I haven't watched The Disappearance yet and I was disappointed in my first viewing of Royal Flash.

The title I would recommend above all, though not on you list, is Bite The Bullet, which is my favorite of all my TT blind buys. I thought it was great and a load of fun.

With this sale, I'm thinking of picking up Jane Eyre, Sleepless In Seattle, Philadelphia and Bonjour Tritesse in addition to the March and April titles I had already planned on ordering.

I have been interested in all of those, but would love some feedback on Bonjour Tritesse. Thanks.

I'm ordering Rapture based on your recommendation, simply because I like your avatar of Terry-Thomas and you most likely have great taste in films.

Ordered The Disappearance along with Alfredo Garcia last month to make the shipping costs hurt a little less. My order hasn't shipped yet and by the time it does, The Disappearance will be ten bucks cheaper.

Not terribly crazy about this.

Glad TT has devised a clever way to clear out these unpopular titles (not criticizing them, I know they would ruin their business model if they did this under "normal" circumstances.

Nevertheless, I will be ordering Love is a Many Splendored Thing, The Song of Bernadette (Henry King film!), The Sound and the Fury, and The Roots of Heaven.

Still deciding on Beloved Infiidel - great cast and crew.

Have the following sitting in the cart waiting for the 19th:

Lost Horizon
Picnic
Steel Magnolias
Song of Bernadette, The
Love Is A Many-Splendored Thing

Total $154.75
minus the $50
will be $104.75 so it will qualify for the signed "The Front"

I don't know if the story is something you would like, but I must say, having watched this film recently for the first time, it's gorgeous looking with great landscapes and summer atmosphere. It is a must for a summer viewing, and i think I'll watch it every summer from now on.

Plus I love Deborah Kerr. I think she brings class to every film she stars.
The thing that bothered me a bit is that i found the central character a bit irritating. But I guess it was in the script..

Someone should have told them to order from discmakers which is in the US.

Anyone who doesn't have Rapture should not pass on it with this sale. In my opinion, it is still the finest release in Twilight Time's catalog. If you like Hitchcock, Bergman, or even Polanski's Repulsion, then Rapture should be on your short list. The fact that it has not sold out yet is a real shame, and a sad commentary on how this hauntingly beautiful and touching masterpiece has disappeared from the public memory since its release in 1965. John Guillermin directed Rapture just before The Blue Max, and considers it the best work among his varied filmography.

For those interested in reading some more about it, this is what I wrote two years ago in this thread:

[Show spoiler]Rapture is an astonishing film. Except for occasional visits to network TV over the years, it has been relegated to vault status since its release in 1965. That is a shame, because the film is a real gem and deserves to be seen. It is emotionally compelling, amazingly well acted, and is a showcase of absolutely beautiful music and cinematography. I have never seen rocky beaches and coastlines look so stunning in black and white. Fox has finally given it the home video treatment it deserves, and for me it is the standout film among all of Twilight Time's releases.

The story and cinematography give Rapture a strong neo-gothic atmosphere, as brooding and ominous as the storm-shrouded Breton coast where the film takes place. Events are set in motion with the arrival of an escaped prisoner (played by a young Dean Stockwell) into the isolated lives of an emotionally fragile teenage girl named Agnes (played by Patricia Gozzi) and her father and housekeeper. The plot is handled deftly, teetering on the edge of becoming a horror film one moment and a heartfelt awakening the next. It manages to build suspense because we never quite know what is going to happen. There is redemption and sacrifice like in many great films, and scenes that are truly memorable for their tender and moving portrayal of a girl's loneliness and despair. And yet, in its heart of darkness, there is a love of life in Rapture that beats joyously loud. The actors are all superb, especially Patricia Gozzi, who shows a range of ability rarely seen in a young star. This is an unforgettable film that will stay with you after watching it. I can see why the director John Guillermin considers this to be his finest work.

While watching Rapture, I thought about some of the taboo elements in the movie that would make it nearly impossible to be made today with the same level of honesty and intensity. Agnes is emotionally vulnerable and isolated in the world around her, and confused by her awareness of her budding sexuality. She is like a living version of the childhood doll she still cherishes, easily broken if treated carelessly. The viewer's uncertainty of whether she is mentally disturbed or merely emotionally immature due to being ill-used by callous adults, makes Rapture both a dark fairy tale and a gently uplifting coming of age story.

I don't know quite what to compare it to, it is a unique film. I think if someone likes Hitchcock and Bergman, they will like Rapture. It also reminded me of elements of early Polanski, specifically Repulsion. The PQ is a glorious, a rich and beautiful black and white Cinemascope feast for the eyes. Audio is also good, with a haunting score by Georges Delerue that compliments the film perfectly. Very highly recommended.

NOTE: Rapture used to be posted on YouTube in nine parts, but it looks like it has been taken down. I did a brief search just now and could not find it.

Discmakers, like Cinram, is a replicator who gets its cases from someone else. If TT's orders wiped out the non-eco case supply of a big-name replicator like Cinram, they would have wiped out Discmakers' supply also.
