Yes, that's the complaint. Normally they say when it drops down below 500 and then a second email when it's below 250 (if it's selling slow enough). And on their FB page the last couple months they had been mentioning "low quantity" titles (i.e. fewer than 800 titles) and quick sellers, so that it was not much surprise when Those Magnificent Men... or Thunderbolt and Lightfoot sold out. But Steel Magnolias was never mentioned in these low quantity lists, nor had it been a quick seller (at least while the cart game was working), so it's a bit surprising to have suddenly got word that it was under 250. Unless more than five hundred sold in the last two months, we should have gotten an intermediate notification through SAE or TT's FB.

Not sure if AGAIG had a past announcement but according to a FB post today there are around 500 copies of AGAIG remaining.

I like "Brannigan" very much. A good film. It was great to see "Duke" in a role that Bronson or Eastwood played during the 70´s.

It was great watching John Wayne as a cop. I would also purchase Warners "McQ" with Duke.

That´s the other movie in which he plays a cop.

Id like to know thoughts on Man in the Dark , the film not the 3D... I royally hate blind buying a movie for a high price. I do like Noirs, mostly in the hey day of the 40s ...the 50s Noirs have this *feel* to them that doesnt interest me or cant get into, and some arent very *Noir* either come to think of it.

I personally love Man in the Dark, although I'm in the minority. I do not have 3D capabilities, so I simply enjoy it in 2D.

It's no Out of the Past or Double Indemnity, but it's a fun movie.

Not really. If TT ever gets Warner titles there are so many that they should think of before Free Willy. This is a title that Warner will probably get to soon enough.

Twilight Time should release the original theatrical versions of Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi.

Okay, maybe not. It would be pretty fun to observe the fray, though.

What do you mean? I've heard there's no real interest in such a release. TT would have to end up burying the unsold copies out there with the the Atari 2600 ET cartridges after they go out of business. Because that's how much no one cares about the original versions of the Star Wars movies, to the extent that there's no incentive for anyone to release them. So I'm told.

Hey, I'd buy 'em both. That's just no accounting for taste.

Presuming they don't go for such low-hanging fruit, a WHV deal would be a dream come true. There are SO many neglected classic B&W WB films that I fear will never see a physical HD release. That said, I suspect that the studios that they are negotiating with are probably small to midsize labels, but I'm hoping for a great surprise there. With Olive shutting down their catalog releases, the increased number of releases from Twilight Time and Kino have been a godsend for vintage film collectors.

No question TT and Kino have been great.
Is it official that Olive has stopped catalog releases? I was looking forward to No Man of Her Own and Fedora, which had been announced, or at least indicated without a release date.

I'd rather WHV let TT release the films related to your avatar.

AFAIK, Olive has not stopped completely or made plans to do so. They have a few upcoming releases for July and I know that there are still several 'announced' titles that have yet to be released. I can't imagine them not releasing Sands of Iwo Jima (1949) before they finish up with the Republic library. My statement was just hyperbole on my part to express my disappointment that they have made very few announcements for this year compared to last.

I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY want the Thin Man films on Blu-ray, but I have to admit that I would feel a little sad if they only got a limited release. WB should step up their game and put out a HD version of that lovely DVD set they released a few years back. Nick & Nora deserve to be in more than 3000 homes, but if Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines has taken so long to hit that number, it is clear that I don't understand/can't accept apparent market realities or popular tastes.

My guess is they exhaust their Paramount/Republic licensed titles before the end of the year and put full focus on their own titles and the licensing/distribution of Cult Epics, 108 Media and Ignite Films going forward into 2015.

Here's the list of the remaining Paramount/Republic licensed titles as best as I can tell:

The Adalen Riots (1969)
Adventures of Captain Fabian (1951)
The Beat Generation (1959)
Beware, My Lovely (1952)
The Big Operator (1959)
Cauldron of Blood (1970)
Come Back to the 5 & Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean (1982)
Distant Drums (1951)
Dragonfly Squadron 3D (1954)
Dr. Terror's House of Horrors (1965)
The Eternal Sea (1955)
Flying Disc Man from Mars (1950)
Hell's Five Hours (1958)
High School Confidential (1958)
I've Always Loved You (1946)
The Invisible Monster (1950)
The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams (1974)
Magnificent Doll (1946)
Man of Conquest (1939)
Outrage (1950)
The Private Affairs of Bel Ami (1947)
The Quiet Gun (1957)
Sands of Iwo Jima (1949)
The Shanghai Story (1954)
South of St. Louis (1949)
The Strange Affair of Uncle Harry (1945)
Stranger at My Door (1956)
That's My Man (1947)
Track the Man Down (1955)
The Weapon (1956)
Woman They Almost Lynched (1953)
World for Ransom (1954)

There should also be a release of The Betty Boop Essential Collection Vol. 4 (1932-1938)

And the following DVD-only releases should get upgraded to Blu-ray at some point:

The Buccaneer (1938)
The Lawless (1950)
No Man of Her Own (1950)
Pony Express (1953)
Something to Live For (1952)
Tropic of Cancer (1970)

So that's 33 BD/DVD releases and 6 BD upgrades, for 39 releases for the Paramount/Republic titles in August-December. Seems very doable if they can release 10 in July.

Keep in mind that the following titles in the Republic catalog will not be released due to poor or missing film elements:

Blood on the Sun (1945)
Breakthrough (1979)
Cadence (1990)
Dakota (1945)
Fighter Attack (1953)
A Lady Takes a Chance (1943)
The Last Command (1955)
A Man Alone (1955)
Marjorie Morningstar (1958)
One of Our Aircraft Is Missing (1942)
Oregon Trail (1936)

Who else is still waiting for SAE to get another batch of signed Alfredo Garcia's? I emailed them 5/26 and I got a reply saying they didn't have enough signed copies and were awaiting more.

Is the autographed situation always like this?
