Love that Brannigan cover, but the Violent Saturday one is pretty bad (I know it was used on the DVD). The one used for the Eureka edition is far better.

Was about to say the same about both covers. The Brannigan one is pretty awesome.

I still like the Carlotta films cover of Violent Saturday best. It has a neat "3D" effect on the image thanks to the formatting of the title and border.

Brannigan does have a sweet cover, though.

Was there even a 500 warning on Steel Magnolias? I don't remember one. The less than 250 notice seemed to come out of nowhere.

July pre-orders begin Wednesday, June 18, at 4 pm EST.

FYI, for those who don't know - Twilight Time always posts the pre-order date in the comments section for each cover whenever they put up new cover art. Just click on the cover on their facebook page.

So when do the July pre-orders go live?

Ha...just kiddin'. You know that question is going to be asked a couple dozen times in the next two weeks so I just wanted to get the ball rolling on behalf of all those people who can't be bothered to read more than one post.

I finally got around to counting my Twilight Time discs.

I have 18 Blu-ray Discs encompassing 17 titles. The discrepancy is because I own two copies of BYE BYE BIRDIE. I'm a HUGE fan of that movie and I needed an extra copy as "insurance" in the event that bad fortune befell my first copy (fire, theft, apocalypse). BTW, it's a truly spectacular looking disc so, if anybody is on the fence, buy it while you can.

Thanks for the heads up. I don't ever recall seeing a notice for it being under 500...

I don't expect it to happen, since it's Warner, but I wouldn't be opposed. I loved that movie as a kid...

I imported Violent Saturday from the UK to the US and the picture is FANTASTIC on my JVC scope setup. You guys who have the patience to wait for the TT release are in for a real treat.

Looks like Steel Magnolias is sold out. The listing has disappeared from SAE.

As I mentioned above, I don't recall seeing a 500 warning on this one. The first indication it was near sellout was the "less than 250 remaining" notice at the bottom of the New and Notable Releases email they sent out three days ago. I don't recall it even being on any "heads up" notice TT sometimes posts when titles get near the 700 to 1000 range.

There was no 500 warning on this one. When the cart game was still possible, you could follow and see that Steel Magnolias was selling steadily. The last records I had before the cart game broke in late January indicated a little over 600 copies, which meant that actually about 1600 were available (the stocks wouldn't include the final 1000 usually until most of the first 2000 had sold out -- then suddenly the stock on a title (e.g. Bye, Bye Birdie) would jump up by a 1000).

In all the months since the cart game broke, when TT and SAE said they would be providing notification of low-quantity titles, Steel Magnolias was never listed as being under 1000 or "moving briskly". So, yes, the 250 warning was sudden and then it was gone within two days. If I had been eyeing this title but holding off thinking it was a safe one to save for a rainy day, I'd be pretty irked right now. But in my case, at least, I bought this title a long time ago.

Well, for anyone that wants the film, there are still the - much cheaper - European Blurays.
Although I'm not sure if it's the same quality!

It's a shame this release won't have the same special features as the Eureka release. I might be importing this title.
