RE : Violent Saturday.

I too, loved it. Felt right somehow, watching it on a Saturday.

I have 9 of these now, and they all look, and sound superior !

The MFSL of Blu rays.

The plot to WHEN THE WIND BLOWS sounds grim but this is supposed to have comedic elements. Might do a blind buy but I wish it would've been Miracle Mile instead.

Yeah, it seems like a movie that would be difficult to describe as "enjoyable" ... maybe you'd get a similar kind of feeling as Schindler's List. Still a great film though.

EDIT: When the Wind Blows also seems to use some very interesting and unique animation techniques. Personally, I've always been very interested in that kind of thing. I'm crossing my fingers that the blu-ray will include special features regarding those techniques. Although I'll probably buy it either way.

Strangely I just bought the first US printing of the When the Wind Blows book last night. I was hoping that the Blu-Ray might be available of the film, and here it is. Exciting!

Bunny Lake is a pretty good 60s effort from Preminger. The original "kid goes missing and everyone pretends like she doesn't exist" thriller. Noel Coward has a wonderful guest role "Bunny what? Bunny wabbit-th?" Is it worth a blind buy? I'd say only if you need to add an extra title to your cart in order to get an autograph promo. It's been on TCM a couple of times, so I'd say seek it out first before dropping $30 on it.

Ouch. Just when I get my TT wishlist down to the single digits, they unleash another bunch of classics. In for Inherit the Wind (day 1), Judgement at Nuremberg, and maybe Prime of Miss Jean Brodie.

I must be alone in wanting Yentl.... oh well, that means the longer until it sells out

just the other week I posted a clip of "A Piece Of Sky" on Facebook lamenting why this movie isn't out on BD just yet.

As TT approaches their 100th release, what are your Top 10 releases in their collection?

I think the lists will be most interesting if they reflect not only what you feel are the "best" films they've released, but also PQ/AQ, extras, and more personal factors like films that have special resonance for you, films you feel like TT helped rescue from obscurity, etc.

Please limit yourself to titles already issued, so that you are evaluating the release itself and not simply your fondness for the movie.

My list would look something like this:

1) THE DRIVER
2) VIOLENT SATURDAY
3) THE DISAPPEARANCE
4) HARD TIMES
5) BRING ME THE HEAD OF ALFREDO GARCIA
6) THUNDERBOLT AND LIGHTFOOT
7) RAPTURE
8) THE TRAIN
9) RITA, SUE, AND BOB TOO
10) BODY DOUBLE

Alamo Bay and Conrack also rate highly in the context of not expecting to see BD releases of those titles (it's also in this light that I placed THE DISAPPEARANCE so highly). The Front, Wild at Heart, and The Mechanic are also highly enjoyable to me.

I suspect THE BIG HEAT would have a place in my top 10, but I missed out on that release.

^^^^^
The Big Heat

All the King's Men
Bye Bye Birdie
Crimes and Misdemeanors
Leave Her to Heaven
Mysterious Island
Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines
Thunderbolt and Lightfoot
Used Cars
Wild at Heart

Can't include Born Yesterday or Violent Saturday, they are on the way.

If Flim-Flam Man got a Blu re-issue, that might crack my top 10, love that movie.

Can't pare it down to ten - I'll have to opt for a dozen:

THE BLUE MAX
BYE BYE BIRDIE
THE DRIVER
THE FRONT
THE GOLDEN VOYAGE OF SINBAD
HARD TIMES
JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH
KHARTOUM
THE MAN FROM LARAMIE
THE SONG OF BERNADETTE
THOSE MAGNIFICENT MEN IN THEIR FLYING MACHINES
THE TRAIN

- though there's a lot more that are near misses.

My Top 10 would be pretty easy, given that I have only 15 TT releases.

In alphabetical order...

Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia
Cover Girl
Heaven Knows, Mr. Allison
The Man from Laramie
Rapture
Rollerball
The Roots of Heaven
Swamp Water
The Train
Two Rode Together

The five I removed are:

Experiment in Terror
In Like Flint
Our Man Flint
Used Cars
Wild at Heart

I haven't bought any of them but they've definitely released/announced some pretty cool stuff. If I could go through their closet (to borrow a metaphor from another distributor) I would gladly grab...

All the King's Men
Born Yesterday (if I could only pick one this might be it)
Fright Night
Rollerball
Body Double
Used Cars
Bunny Lake is Missing Crimes and Misdemeanors
The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie
Inherit the Wind
Judgement at Nuremburg

Mine would be (based more on my love of the film itself than anything):

1: Man Hunt
2: The Blue Max
3: The Train
4: Our Man Flint/In Like Flint
5: Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines
6: Experiment in Terror
7: The Man From Laramie
8: Bell, Book and Candle
