I'm 56, so I can remember when ALL the holidays closed all the stores, cleared all the streets, etc. and I'm talking about Chicago !!!

Oh man, with all the noise in this thread I didn't even notice those announcements. I'm going to go broke from this release slate (I have Under Fire and The Blob on preorder, and I'm going to get Fright Night if I can before it sells out this time!). Breaking Away is seriously one of the best coming of age movies ever, I love it so much and always recommend it.
Lenny was an interestingly dark movie and I might have to get it. The cinematography was gorgeous even in the crappy pan and scan version I saw on TV back in the day. Valerie Perrine is really affecting in it, I was pretty stunned by how good she was after only knowing her as the comic relief bimbo from the first two Superman movies and the babe in Slaughterhouse Five. |

That's good news after the fiasco of Network's atrocious UK Blu-ray release. It almost certainly won't have as good extras but it should have a transfer that isn't riddled with digital noise and contrast issues.

Why? That's just stupid. If you don't want to go out on a holiday, don't. Some people like the opportunity.
I'm 38 and remember working on Thanksgiving when I was a teenager. My mom was a nurse and always worked alternating holidays. It isn't the end of the world. |

Fox, in particular, seems to have thrown in the towel completely on any films made before 1980 or so. guess we'll all be paying $30 for Peyton Place or The Ox-Bow Incident. I've been happy that TT has at least provided a way to get these films on bd, but as they start having 5 and 6 titles a month I want it is becoming very problematic--i.e. not financially feasible. ![]() the whole "classic films on bd" situation is beginning to feel rather pathetic, even though titles continue to trickle out from all these various distributors. |

I agree. It's getting pretty hilarious paying $30+, for older (in some cases horrible) movies with next to no extras, while we pay $20 and under for newer movies and highly regarded catalogs. Not sure why Twilight Time doesn't reduce the prices on some of the stuff they can't sell. I was interested in purchasing a copy of The Rains of Ranchipur to add to my disaster collection, but $29 is steep for a movie that is widely regarded as a "bad". I noticed many Twilight Time titles, that have been out for a few years, still priced at $29.
It's available on blu-ray, region A/B in Germany, for a lot cheaper. But the info on the specs are all over the place. Everywhere I check says the movie is presented in the 1:78 ratio, not the original 2:55 scope ratio. Anyone know what it actually is on the German release?
