I really really really hope for MAURICE now...
I was hoping Criterion would have resolved them by now. It's a shame that Howards End is their only Merchant Ivory film on blu, and that's OOP.

Interested in the two sci-fi films for sure, Journey to the Center of the Earth and First Men Inside the Moon, along with Zardoz before them. Very much a sci-fi collector, me.

I've spent all day watching the Blu-rays from the Ray Harryhausen Collection box set, which arrived in my mailbox earlier this weekend, and reliving a lot of cool childhood memories.

...so, naturally, I've changed my mind and decided that I will be ordering The First Men on the Moon after all.

I'm excited about The Bounty, I've been hoping they'd release that one. Interesting that they're releasing Zardoz. I'll check it out only out of my interest in Boorman, but the Boorman film I hope they eventually release is Hell In The Pacific.

I might upgrade Adele H and will consider Men in the Moon. I'm normally a big Harryhausen/sci-fi fan, but the Victorian-set sci-fi films are all just too goofy and fantasy-oriented for me. A pass on the rest.

I had no idea Mutiny On the Bounty was remade yet again in the 80's. Is the film any good? I'm imagining a funky 80's soundtrack and funkier 80's hairstyles even though this takes place hundreds of years ago Judging by the trailer the film looks like an action movie lol.

One negative about FIRST MEN IN THE MOON is that Harryhausen's creatures aren't the dominant characters in the movie like others such as the Ymir in 20 MILLION MILES TO EARTH or the Rhedosaurus in BEAST FROM 20,000 FATHOMS.
Also, Harryhausen's Moon creatures appear relatively late in the movie.
FIRST MEN is a decent movie, but it's not a Harryhausen creature-dominant movie which is the main drawing point for his other movies.
I'll get it for the nostalgia factor--I saw FIRST MEN in the theater when I was a kid.

As for ZARDOZ, I saw it back in the mid-70s and don't remember much about it. I'm getting a library dvd copy to review it, but one plus ZARDOZ has is Sean Connery starring in it, so it's a "maybe" for me.

The music is by Vangelis so it does place it firmly in the early 80s in that regard. Your tolerance for it will depend on your tolerance for his work on Blade Runner or Chariots of Fire.

It's a terrific film. I can understand someone who likes the Gable and Brando versions not liking this as much, but one counter-example is my sister, who puts the Brando version at the top, followed by this one, followed by the Gable (me, I order them by Gable, this, Brando).

As for the score, I suppose it depends on what you mean by "funky 80s soundtrack". It's by Vangelis, and it's my favorite score of his.

This is a fantastic film and imo it is not even close to being an action film from the 80s...don't give any thought to Mad Max or Lethal Weapon in regards to Mel Gibson being cast as Fletcher Christian.

Do you consider funky 80s soundtracks to be synthesiser driven scores? The score was composed by Vangelis so expect nothing else....but hardly funky; the first third of Ladyhawke comes to mind in regards to horrible 80s scores, imho.

First Men in the Moon is one of the few Harryhausen films I have never seen. If that alone isn't enough of a reason for me to pick it up on release, I have another. I just noticed one of the stars is the stunning 1950s and 60s beauty Martha Hyer, who also starred in some of my favorite film noirs and westerns of the era, including Cry Vengeance, The Night of the Grizzly, and The Sons of Katie Elder (the first two are out on Blu-ray from Olive).

[Show spoiler]
Martha Hyer is great in Cry Vengeance. That's such an underrated film noir.

Yeah, it's looking like The First Men on the Moon will end up on my order queue.

Because I'm usually working until 5:30 in the afternoon on weekdays now, I'll miss most of the fray when these Twilight Time titles first go on sale at 4:00 PM. If a title sells out in just a couple of hours, though, then it just was not meant to be. I have not seen this happen yet, fortunately.

For you readers out there, Amazon's Kindle Daily Deal today features To Sir, With Love and The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, each for $1.99. I haven't read To Sir yet, but The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie by Muriel Spark is excellent. Kindle books can be read on Kindles, and also through the Kindle app on other devices.

Looking forward to these upcoming TT releases.

I don't know how many have heard of the movie Two of a Kind starring George Burns, but that would be cool if TT could pick this one up. It's never been released on DVD or Blu-ray. It was one hell of a movie I recollect.
