Yeah I took advantage of that picking up titles that I would never have bought at 30-35 bucks (Ride the Bullet, Desiree, The Roots of Heaven, Sexy Beast).

Just asked on TT's Facebook page, and now here...

Any chance they can license Tender Mercies ? I hate to grab a DVD, then have a Blu ray announced.

I'm anticipating Zardoz far more than is right and, indeed, natural. Something tells me it's not going to sell out quite as quickly as certain other titles.

It's a sci-fi classic, whether it sucks or not. I bet it sells out in a month, like The Blob. Maybe even faster.

Yep, Zardoz will sell out in a month or so. Many people think the film is garbage, but it has quite a substantial passionate fanbase, including myself. It won't sell out as fast as an 80's horror film, but I can see it going at the speed of Rollerball.

It has higher name recognition than you might think, too. I've seen screenings of it on multiple college campuses cause stoners and nerds all thought it was hilarious. Sean Connery's outfit received only moderate attention compared to what else goes on in that movie, it has a gigantic flying stone head that barfs guns! Of course, stoners are probably the demographic least likely to buy TT releases, so who knows. Maybe it will be Rapture 2.0.

I know the main post here is saying that the February releases will be available for orders on January 21st but will this also include Zardoz? I will order both Love & Death and Zardoz at the same time but I am wondering if they will actually be on the same date?

I am always a bit confuse with Twillight release methods

No, it was the last one, offered up the week of Christmas. I don't think they've announced what the next one will be.

I was going to use Rollerball as a reason why Zardoz will take longer to sell out. Hey, I love Zardoz and I want there to be a demand for it, but subjectively? I honestly can't see as many people having interest in it as Rollerball, and I can't see it selling out in a month. Time will tell!

I'm still trying to decide if I want Zardoz or not. On one hand it's pretty godawful but on the other hand it's also kind of awesome.

I can understand fans of Zardoz getting into all that esoteric weirdness. It's a very interesting film. But once was enough for me....the floating head and seam Connery's loin cloth was enough for one viewing.....

I would think that between Sony and TT, if they both agreed they could pretty much alter the contract however they see fit (in terms of timing).

I realize that there are royalties issues and whatnot to deal with, but between the 3 year thing and the unit count (3000 vs 5000) there is probably alot of flexibility to alter their arrangements at any time.

I would think it would be Twilight Time that would be more hesitant to change the terms, just because it would seem to undermine their business model a bit. At least for as long as they officially are strictly calling these 3000 limited.

Maybe the 3000 is the minimum Sony is willing to license, any less may not be worth their while, so they may be more than willing to increased the amount.

They seem to be cornering the market on musical biopics lately.

The 3000 has nothing do with Sony as far as I know, I believe that's the optimal number that TT came up with based on their history in the field of limited edition CD soundtracks. I'm fairly certain, if the Blob or Fright Night are anything to go by, that the numbers don't really matter to the studios as long as TT are willing to pony up the cash.
