I'm going to get an autographed copy, so I can make it kiss my non autographed copy.

I can take pics if need be.

That being said the price hike is gouging, but they're going to get it. If anything, it helps me to pull the trigger on the higher priced Bell, Book and Candle.

Yes, I realize that. But...

I wasn't talking about people who "have been buying all of the titles each and every month". I was referring to people who have bought the titles they want each and every month. Someone in the latter group may well come up with 6 or 12 or 18 titles they don't already have, but those might also be 6 or 12 or 18 titles they aren't really interested in owning.

There's also the point that the people who collect a large number of TT releases might want to collect the autographed copies. But if most (if not all) of the autographed copies they'd want to try for are titles they already own, they'll have to buy titles they don't want in order to get the signed ones, and hope that they can manage to sell off the other discs without losing too much money in the bargain (assuming they don't mind getting dragged into the selling business).

And my real point is that because of the way that the promos are done, some of their regular customers might put off pre-ordering right away in order to build up a set of titles that they can use to get the signed copies. In which case, TT isn't generating more sales with the promos (which is, as you say, the point of their doing them), but just delaying the revenue stream that they would've gotten anyway.

Its not the hate. I want to know when Christine and other movies are being released. Not prices of autographs. Put that in its own thread. Confuses me.

Yes i know christine comes later. Just put her for an example.

I think it may work out better for you if you just ask the questions you want to ask to begin with, rather than making an uninformed judgement on what type of discussion belongs in this thread. Autographed copies are part of Twilight Time's releases so I hope that alleviates your confusion.

Christine is not likely to be released until early next year. It is definitely going to be released, but so far it hasn't got a release date.

Announced release information is in post #1 in the thread. You don't really need to wade through anything else in the thread if that's all you want to know.

We'll know when Christine will be released once TT makes an announcement and not two months sooner.

Besides, I see another feeding frenzy because it's the Blob.
as an Australian I feel your pain about our outrageous shipping charges. It's expensive to ship stuff within Australia but it gets totally out of hand to ship stuff overseas. Which is strange because shipping to Australia is usually not that expensive from the US, Ruope or Asia (well unless its TCM shop who have a silly flat rate).

Well I guess they're damned if they do, and they're damned if they don't. I mean, I get that fans are going to want to collect as many autos as possible, but, really, at some point they're not only going to wind up having bought every title there is if they're that hardcore, plus they're going to end up with dupes of all the titles that come with the signatures. I mean, they don't have to do it you know. I'm sure they pull a lot of strings just to get the likes of Malcolm McDowell, Oliver Stone, Walter Hill, etc. to sign some promos to give away for free.

How about you go to the thread that's devoted strictly to Christine then and discuss its release date ad infinitum there?

It was a good promo and I found a few titles I can't get here in Canada, and that includes Christine. The shipping was pretty hefty but I still managed to get it for about half the price of what I would have paid Twilight Time.

I agree, regarding the autographs; be it $100, $150 or even just $50, I'd have very little interest adding more to an order (/fast-tracking) just to get one. Not worth it, although I understand not everybody's me (the crazy, mad fools!).

I also agree, re: the increase of units and, I suppose to a smaller degree, the re-issues/upgrades. This just seems to be the way T.T. as a company is heading, and not strictly confined to one-offs. I've very much just dipped my toes into the water with this company, buying the occasional film I've been interested in (I think I have six now) so am not a hardcore collector of the series, but the increases in a whole variety of areas seems to be becoming the standard, for better or worse. I guess as an outfit when you're that small changes are more needed but it's a fine line.

The increase to $150 does seem a bit sketchy, especially considering when they did this with Christine (which sold out much faster), it was still only $100. Still, if I'm able to get the money, I'll consider it. I have been wanting to buy a few of their titles that are starting to get very low (Our Man Flint, AGAIG being the prime examples) and I missed out on The Blob last time.

I wonder if part of their thinking is that a non-autographed copy of The Blob is likely going for about $100 already (a guess - I have no interest, so won't spend the time to look). So basically they are asking for someone to pay 'full street' for a copy of The Blob (which they'll get autographed), buy two TT films (or three if one isn't a $34.95 one), and get three TT films 'free'.

For those films getting close to selling out that have relatively large followings (e.g. Flint, world-wide, is likely popular), buy a few to flip - as someone suggested - and if you do it for just enough to cover your initial cost and the sales % (to eBay or Amazon) you would get at least paid back what you paid for them.

And end up with a free - or at least 'low cost' - autographed The Blob.

I disagree. TT is giving something very valuable for free with the purchase of $150 from their catalog...very fair given the circumstances. So it is not $100 but $150 to get a free autograph copy of The Blob...great promotion imo.

I wouldn't risk it with FLINT during this promotion as I think a bunch of people will load their cart with a few of those to get the free BLOB, and considering how few copies are left of FLINT, it may not be THE BLOB that disappears from your cart first when you're trying to check out.

The 100 promo copies have nothing to do with their canceled/oversold ones - that was most likely a TCM allotment mistake. SAE/TT always have a limited number of copies available to use as promo copies, these are above and beyond the 3,000/5,000 that they are contractually allowed to sell. So they can't sell these copies.

Plenty of copies on the bay that aren't moving around the $60 range and under. Fright Night it ain't when it comes to highly inflated prices.
