Funny Girl is a Sony release. Funny Lady is with TT and not available elsewhere. Yet.

![]() The cynics among us figured that TT's criterion for selecting the 36 titles that were part of the sale was because they were slow-selling titles. Given that now, a year later, only 2 of those 36 are OOP (Steel Magnolias and Out Man Flint, with the latter going OOP only recently) seems to support the belief. Anyway, if they decide to do another sale this month, I wouldn't expect them to announce it until it's just about upon us. They wouldn't want their customers to hold back ordering titles on the hope of getting them at a discount price. Oh, and the sale started the same day as the April 2014 pre-orders. Since TT has moved their pre-order date from the third Wednesday of the month to the last Wednesday of the month, I wouldn't expect a hypothetical sale to happen before the 25th. |

The Victors has played on Sony Movie Channel HD several times this year, but only in the US general release version. I fear that may be the version we ultimately get if, and when, a BD is released. |

Well maybe just about every smallish DVD seller would crash as well if it had a promo for a free signed Fright Night. Silly to expect SAE to add server capacity for such a rare event that lasts only minutes.

I would guess yes. They're putting out more titles a month, and for every Fright Night there's at least 2 titles they release each month that probably haven't even fell below 2,000 yet. Like before I'd think it would be a sale of titles that aren't anywhere near 1,000 left.

People have a comfort level paying more for TT movies because they know they will not come down in price. Having an annual sale will undermine all of that. For example, I buy Criterion movies every 6 months only when they are on sale at Criterion.com. I know they will go on sale so I would feel foolish to buy them at the regular Amazon or Criterion price (unless I wanted it so bad I couldn't wait, which is very rare because I always have so many unwatched movies in my collection). On the other hand holding inventory costs money, and over the years it can build up. |

Then don't offer the promo. Seriously if everyone doesn't have a fair shot. I know the answer will be "whos cares they will sell out anyway and no customers are really going anywhere" and it's true but it's still crappy. If they ever end up selling them somewhere else for the same price then something could actually get done. And im actually one of the people that got in on the promo.

![]() I did mention that Fright Night wasn't the best movie to offer, precisely because of that. It's selling for $75 on ebay and so it will be a feeding frenzy for scalpers. But fortunately this is a very rare occurrence to have the servers crash twice. It was very frustrating for everybody, but fortunately I was able to multitask and get some work done while waiting for pages to load. The most frustrating part for me was when I got booted off the site after having it in my cart and having to log in again. I got confused when I couldn't see my cart and ended up added the freebie to my cart again. So then after logging in I noticed it was in my cart twice so I wasted 2 clicks and 5 minutes getting it back to where I was. That mistake cost me because I was only a minute late. Oh well, I'm over it now. Not the first time I screwed up on these and have it cost me. But I can't complain because I have won my share. ![]() |

For those who don't know, after shooting in Germany or Italy was deemed too expensive, to keep the budget down the producers decided to film the WW2 epic in Czechoslovakia, with the Czech government even allowing them to blow up most of the town of Most. Unfortunately they chose to shoot in 1968, and the Russians spread the rumour that the film was a ruse to allow America to secretly send in troops and tanks and occupy the country and that desperate Czechs were begging the Russian army to liberate then from this American invasion - which, as humanitarians, they duly did that August, causing the film crew to bolt for the border in a fleet of 28 taxis and end up filming in Italy and Germany after all. |
