Obviously some misunderstand since I am getting lectures about what collecting means.

I've repeatedly said no judging is involved, so it seems to me like people want to take it that way because they're defensive. And obviously everyone does have their own filters, otherwise you would all own every movie ever made. The only difference is what we filter and why. All I ever said was 100 out of 140 means one hell of a wide filter. Then I also said "more power to 'em" so again, can't imagine taking judgment from that.

Anyway, let's get back to talking about TT releases. I won't post about this again.

I can confirm that the two Fraser/Lester Musketeers films available on Blu-ray in the UK from Optimum (available separately or together) are marked as Region A and B, and will play in Region A players.

I'm tempted to say, "Actually, let's do forget it." I remember watching it back when it was first released and thinking it was rather awful, and nowhere near as much fun as the first two. I watched it again on Netflix about a year or so ago, and decided it wasn't really that bad, although it still doesn't approach the level of the first two.

I finally got around to watching Journey to the Center of the Earth and I certainly enjoyed it more than any of the countless remakes. Although ...

I feel sorry for the People that missed out on "Leave Her To Heaven" it's a great Film and the PQ is Stunning w/beautiful color (My God Gene Tierney is a Beauty), Violent Saturday is another film with PQ on Par with LHTH if you like the Older Films.

Well, again, I'm not sure how I was expected to interpret the phrase "not healthy behavior" any way other than I did,

Quote:
I obviously collect as well. Like I said I want every sci-fi movie ever made, that's certainly a collector mindset. The point is more that I focus on sci-fi, spy movies and 80's action because you have to focus on something.

There are millions of movies out there. If you buy any that you like on any level or buy them just to have them then it seems like an unattainable and unfocused goal. There's too many movies to just buy anything.
I don't see why that's "unfocused". There are certainly movies that I don't want to buy, and that I don't buy. I don't buy movies just to buy movies. I buy ones that I want to see. Some of these are ones I've seen before and know that I like them, some are ones I haven't seen before but for one reason or another I feel pretty sure I'll like. And I don't see anything wrong with that.

Quote:
So my point is more that I hope others similarly try to put a focus on things like I do, to keep their collecting realistic. Unless you're uber-rich and have no budget at all on purchasing then every time you buy one thing you're not buying another.
Why does it matter to you whether other people "keep their collecting realistic"? And, I hate to break this to you, but "every time you buy one thing you're not buying another" is a truism no matter what you buy or don't buy, whether you have a narrow focus or a wide focus. By buying only (or mostly) SF, spy movies, and 80s action movies, you're not buying other things that you might actually like more than what you do buy.

And I do recognize that there's some give and take. I'm buying a lot of discs from this current TT sale, and I know that in order to do so, I have to essentially put a moratorium on buying anything else for the next month. That's my choice.

But more importantly, as I said, some people have different priorities than you. You might think focusing on "sci-fi, spy movies and 80's action" is better for you, and that's fine. But I don't like to feel constricted to that narrow a range. When I was a kid back in the 60s, I watched almost nothing but SF, fantasy, monster, and horror movies. In the early 70s, I started expanding my movie-watching interests, and found my life much more satisfying with the greater variety of films I'd begun to indulge in. I still love watching SF movies, but I swear to God I'd rather shoot myself than to watch only SF movies.

Quote:
It helps to have guidelines and genre styles you want to focus on. So when I say "wow 100+ TT titles" I just mean that seems pretty scattershot, pretty broad.
No, it really isn't. If someone said, "I just think the Blu-ray format is awesome, and I'm going to buy every single title ever released on Blu-ray," then you might have a point. But it's all relative. You might think that 100+ TT titles is "pretty broad", but I think you're 12 or so TT titles is pretty narrow.

The point is that just because our choices are not the same as your choices doesn't mean that there's something wrong with our choices. And whether you intended it or not, that's what your postings suggest. And the more you try to say that you're not judging anyone else, your explanations do feel like judgments, because you always come around to saying that we're doing it wrong. Otherwise you wouldn't be saying things like people needing to have a more focused approach to collecting.

Deci updated the OP before I was able to do it. Thanks.

I would have done it this evening I just got home after a four hour flight delay at an airport in West Texas.

I am always on top of updates, and if there is any delay it is because I am most likely hung up at work (or out with one of my lady friends ) and unable to update until I get home. I cannot update during the day when I am at work so that is why almost all of my updates occur in the evenings. Today was one verrrry long day on the job.

Lol, I have even posted here when I am going on vacation if my trip occurs when something in the first post could change, just so ya'll know to expect a delay in the updates.

I thought about moving Leave Her to Heaven to "sold out" last night from my laptop in my hotel, but decided to wait until Twilight Time officially announced it was sold out. Twilight Time did not do that until today.

It still has a 3 Limit purchase on it so usually it drops to 1 per customer when they start getting low.

I am waiting on pre-ordering also. I want it but I need to hold off.

I hope I'm wrong, but I think TT may have erred in choosing to go with 5000 copies. I think if they had gone with their 3000 run, it would be featured at their next anniversary sale

Patiently waiting to get my day one pre-ordered copy

I think if they have an extra 2000 that would increase the chances of it still being around next year, not DECREASE them, wouldn't you? Unless you meant "it was already going to last a year, they overestimated demand!"

Yes, I probably should have said "even if they'd gone with 3000..."

Like I said, I hope I'm wrong. Personally, as long as TT keeps putting out obscure/failed titles that I like, in good or better PQ/AQ, I'm rooting for their success! And no, I don't think they're out to get rich with their pricing structure. I don't think this business is making them wealthy.

I just had time to watch both Journey and First Men last night. Both are spectacular! Great job by Fox and Sony on the transfers. So are we officially in Harryhausen withdrawal for a while or will we see 3 Worlds of Gulliver and One Million Years, B.C sooner rather than later from TT? With all the great Sci Fi and horror movies from the 60's and 70's coming to bd in the near future I wouldn't be surprised if Warner Archives releases their Harryhausen movies.
Wishful thinking, I know!
