I sat this sale out, but hopefully next time. I would have liked to get Man Hunt, The Man From Laramie, Violent Saturday and Salvador.

This year, it was their Fourth Birthday celebration, so they picked 96 titles for the sale (two for each month since their first release).

If the pattern holds, for their Fifth Birthday, they'll pick 180 titles.

I guess the announcements for July/August aren't happening today as some predicted they would. Maybe it's because of it being Easter weekend?

The video gets very high marks, it really looks outstanding...5/5 .

To my surprise, the movie itself disappointed me. I had read great things about this movie, but it just falls flat for me.Obviously, not a true noir, but it does offer plenty of "noir like" elements. The movie spends a lot of time in character development, but I did not find myself caring for any of the characters nor did I find the characters interesting.

In fact, I found the characters annoying even the good guys...making silly decisions, building up to a finish that does not deliver. I just found the behaviour and decisions made by the characters in this movie just too silly to be beliavable. Corny ending as well, RE: Victor Mature.

Not a bad movie, but nowhere near great. 3/5 for the movie itself .

I still like VIOLENT SATURDAY a lot, despite some faults. The color CinemaScope cinematography looks great, and the acting and characters didn't bother me. It's really a small-town soap opera crossed with a film noir and alternating back and forth. Another, somewhat similar color semi-noir that's equally a soap opera about a dysfunctional family and also set in the desert Southwest, and again is also quite good but falls short of greatness is THE TRAP. I'd probably give both a solid 3.5/5 for the movie and 4.5/5 for PQ.

The cinematography is outstanding, I fully agree. The colors are vivid...blacks are deep. The PQ should satisfy everyone. I did like the movie overall, just fell short of my expectations .

Valley of the Dolls (Fox) & Cat Ballou (Sony) are possibilities, but WB owns the other four; AFAIK they have never used TT. (BTW the correct capitalization is "BUtterfield 8", as in early-1960's phone exchanges. )

Warner doesn't like to share its toys, so they virtually never license out titles to other labels. There have been exceptions, like Oliver Stone twisting their arm to let TT release Heaven & Earth or Terrence Malick doing the same for a couple of his films for Criterion. And some of their TV properties have been licensed to Time-Life and Shout Factory.

They need to release "The Pirate Movie" 1982. That has quite a cult following and was also a Fox film. Selling 3,000 units would be no problem. All these films that were from different studios but released under Anchor Bay on DVD that are rare and hard to come by they should investigate. 0ther examples would be Fade To Black (1980 American Cinema Release) w/ Dennis Christopher or Liar's Moon w/ Matt Damon (1982), The Last Chase (1981) Lee Majors and Chris Makepeace.

Talking of movies we'd like TT to release..... I'd love to see Barbecue released on Blu-ray (the sequel to Picnic).

I don't want to turn this into a wishlist thread but how about Mackenna's Gold? That was a Columbia release.

Has anyone ever had an order they placed on Screen Archives just disappear off the site? Mine did and I don't know why.

Edit: Well, actually it is there. This is weird.

That's one of the ones I ordered on Thursday. Along with Sleepless in Seattle and Journey to the Center of the Earth. I really hope it goes through. This is my first time ordering from them.
