Maybe all bigger orders are queued up for the end. I have two orders: one on 3/30 with "Richard III" pre-order, "Hard Times" and 3 sale items, and on 4/9 I pre-ordered "Zardoz", and added JTTCOTE and FMITM.

Both are still pending. Not sure on what their system of "what goes out when" is, but I figure I'll probably have both orders by this time next week.

Am interested to see how many (and what) movies make the next "low quantity alert". I'm also wondering if the next signed promotion is Oliver Stone signing "U Turn" (he already signed "Salvador" and "Heaven & Earth"). I've already got five titles picked out if that's the case.

There's probably a good chance for "U Turn", but I would die if they could arrange a signed edition of "Zardoz" by John Boorman. That would be insane and I'd probably suffer a stroke out of anxiety trying to get one.

For what it's worth, my order from 3/25 (Zardoz pre-order + six sale titles) shipped yesterday. Expected delivery on Monday.

Bell, Book and Candle and Born Yesterday arrived. Just waiting on The Remains of the Day and Experiment in Terror to ship as they were ordered on the 3rd and are still pending.

I really want to own Bite the Bullet and forgot about it. Was it one of the ones that was on sale? Seems like those releases from the first year are the ones getting low so I may have to jump soon. Just waiting on them to put out an updated quantity status. Might jump on Breaking Away as well if it's getting low.

Yes, it was on sale. Bite the Bullet is a highly enjoyable western with an engaging cast, especially Gene Hackman, James Coburn, and one of my favorite classic character actors Ben Johnson. The fact that it is a post-1900 western about a long distance horse race makes it unusual and adds to its appeal.

Bite the Bullet is a fantastic film, more of an adventure film with a western setting, only a small portion at the end turns into a more traditional western. I bought it during last year's sale because it's a $34.95 title. A funny thing I noticed though, both this and The Professionals also directed by Richard Brooks feature scenes where a character beats up a guy for abusing a horse.

I thoroughly recommend getting it, despite having such a stellar cast, it's a bit of a hidden gem.

I had never seen it despite being a fan of several of the stars. The cast alone sold it. James Coburn in a movie is all I need to know.

Now if only we could get Cross of Iron in Region A.

Not to mention The President's Analyst, The Last of Sheila and Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid. I loved Coburn too, a great actor and a classy guy.

The Last of Sheila is an astonishingly well-crafted, fair-play mystery (it's actually possible for the viewer to solve the mystery by following the clues) written by (of all people) Anthony Perkins and Stephen Sondheim.

It's up toward the top of my list of films I'd love to see on Blu-ray from Warner Archive (I doubt very much we'd see it from WHV).

As for Coburn, one of these days I'm going to have to give Waterhole #3 another try. I had seen it with my mother back in the 60s as the opener on a double bill with The Odd Couple, and both of us thought it was the funnier of the two movies. Years later, it popped up on TV. This time, all the way through it, we kept wondering why we thought it was so funny the first time. When it came out on DVD, I picked it up to give it another shot, and didn't think much of it. But I keep thinking that if I watch it again, I might see what I saw in it the first time.

I saw Waterhole #3 just once and found it to be a bit disappointing.

The Last of Sheila is great, one of two snapper case DVDs left in my collection. Sondheim and Perkins would craft those overly elaborate scavenger hunts in real life and based the film around it.

I always got the impression that it was written as a sequel to The Professionals but Robert Ryan's health problems and the inability to get the rest of the cast meant changing the character names when it eventually made it to the screen with Hackman and Coburn.

Anyone interested in trading a copy of The Story of Adele H. or The Purple Rose of Cairo for The Fantasticks? It's like new and I'd like to trade it for one of the titles I'm missing that I really want.

My order arrived today and it was well worth the wait. These are gorgeous. Now I have to make time to watch them. It took them about two weeks to ship, but I don't care because it came fast. It shipped Thursday and got here today. I will definitely be hitting these folks up again.

Three great movies staring the coolest actor ever. Two would come from Warner, & as for The President's Analyst, well I don't know what's happening with Paramount these days, not much.

Speaking of James Coburn, I'm looking forward to Harry in Your Pocket, coming soon from KLSC.

I forgot about Bite the Bullet as well. I wish I had put it in my lone sale order that finally shipped yesterday.

If it ever does get really low in quantity before next year's sale, I'll have to throw it into a pre-order despite the price tag.

Bite the Bullet is, on paper, the kind of movie I would normally love, but I think I was put off by the presence of Candice Bergen in the cast. I enjoyed her in Murphy Brown, but when she was younger she was a terrible actress. I may have to give it a revisit, however. I know I saw it years ago on TV, but I don't remember much about it. Hope it's still available in the next sale.

I'll give a big second to that oildude. Cross of Iron has been high on my list for years. James Coburn (we could do a thread on the most dramatic voice in cinematic history!) and Maximilian Schell are an unbeatable combination.
