Saw the Stones in 81 at the Cotton Bowl ....that was also thier last good album imho But I feel you as I was going to go see Fleetwood Mac but was not about to pay 300 to 500 for a good seat.

This is what twilight time responded with on my post I put on their page

We have said repeatedly that any retailer or dealer can buy from SAE or TCM directly if they wish, but they must buy at the full retail price - this is why you see items marked up on Amazon and elsewhere.

So TT is suggesting amazon bought from SAE and are reselling them. That makes no sense.

That is definitely an odd response as you wouldn't expect Amazon to buy at full retail (SAE's selling price) only to have Amazon sell some of those below that cost. Maybe our definition of full retail price is different ...

That's what I said. I guess we'll never get a straight answer from TT then. There response they sounded a little mad.

I don't think they should be doing one either until they've shipped all the orders from the sale and the pre-orders so they have something of a clear slate. I guess I can hope for next week. No chance they come this week. I'd be more patient and less whiny if this were a USPS thing but it's an SAE thing.

Or you could actually, you know, understand what you're "mad" about before you throw a fit. Otherwise you just look like a fool.

Amazon has said publicly many times that they willingly take a loss on some items. LOSS LEADERS. We get Blu rays and DVDs all the time at slashed prices, because Amazon is counting on us to buy more of other things while we're on site. Common practice, esp. for Amazon.

I learned about this practice in my high school Economics class...in 1975 !!!!!!

I really don't understand all the drama about who sells TT discs, in the grand scheme of thinks does it really matter? Asking them questions and thinking "they may not give a straight answer?". It is not some huge mystery or the single bullet theory, I'm pretty sure we can all live without knowing why a few TT titles are for sale on Amazon, at least I know I can

Their response is at least incomplete. The lawyer in me wants to ask Why are several dealers offering to sell just now? If Amazon is buying from SAE at retail prices, why haven't they chosen the most popular movies? Why have they not offered the entire list? Why did TT offer so many movies for their sale?

There is simply more to the story than what we are being told. But I also agree that they are not going to tell us unless it is to their benifit to do so.

Pretty much. I honestly could care less, and it's pretty sad to see basically the whole thread being about that between the time I was on this morning and when I got home from work.

On a better note, I watched my first title from my sale order that arrived yesterday... Used Cars. Pretty entertaining, and a solid disc to boot. Not demo material, but the source was pristine and I'm sure the movie has always been a little soft. Yet another movie that falls into the "Why I Ever Hesitated to Blind Buy It" category.

I just wish TT would get a new distributor/shipper. SAE is dragging down TT image as well as thier own with this shipping debacle.

Other than my lawyer questions above, there are very practical questions that we need answers for. For example, Will TT let Amazon and others take pre-orders or do we have to do those only at SAE? Will the signed copies only be available at SAE?

We will need to get answers to these and other questions soon as I want to place a pre-order this next round.

It wouldn't hurt to shoot off an email to SAE inquiring about this observation.

Maybe SAE is experimenting with this new method given their issue to deal with large amounts of orders.

They gave you a straight answer. What more do you want them to say?

And they did not "sound mad", just telling you that they have posted repeatedly - which they have - that their releases are only sold via SAE and TCM. Whatever is going on at amazon, TT is aware only that the source of these discs was SAE or TCM, bought at full price.

Even though TCM has been a vendor for a while now both the pre orders and signed promos have only been available thru SAE and I can't imagine that changing

How many preorders did you have? SAE does not ship any part of an order until they have received all titles from the manufacturing plant. Sometimes one title can arrive late, delaying an entire order. And the April release date was only a week ago. Given the volume of orders from the sale and the fact that Zardoz had a large number of preorders (and would likely have sold out already except for the higher 5000 copy run), I am not surprised at all some have not shipped out yet.

This happens every time there is a popular preorder that sells like crazy before release day. Your order WILL ship. They always do, and when it does you will get it in a couple of days.

Well nice to see that thier is a big annoucment coming at the end of next month regarding the shipping situation(per the Facebook page) with regards to retailers/shippers:

"Twilight Time DVD Label: There will be an announcement at the end of next month that will alleviate the situation..."

Still not acceptable, sorry. If this were Amazon or some other place it would not be tolerated. Hopefully major changes will happen so this episode will not have to be revisited again. So far I love Twilight Time releases but have not been a fan of SAE. Even thier webiste is buggy quite often
