If I wouldn't have ordered The Pride of Miss Jean Brodie during the birthday sale, I would have jumped on this latest autograph promotion.

Just got my shipping notice today (for TPoMJB, Drums Along the Mohawk, and Zardoz). Yay!

I've been away from home for the last 30 days or so. It was an eye-opener on how good the picture on my Pioneer plasma looks, after spending so many days watching hotel TVs.

This was the perfect title for the signed promo for me. A title that I wanted but was quite low on the wishlist. Now I get a signed copy for free along with a few must-haves.

I was planning to order today The Driver and Hard Times. Got out of school and I find out that The Driver has sold out. Man was I was bummed out. I really wanted to buy it. I bought Hard Times before it's sold out. That would be my first Twilight Time title that I have ever bought. Nevertheless, I really wanted to own both Walter Hill titles, so I ended buying The Driver off of an Amazon seller for $49.99. It said brand new and sealed. Hopefully, it's true.

It's not a well known movie at all, but I share your opinion on the film and disc.

A Pamela Franklin Autograph is tough to get...She is great in "The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie" which by the way is a great Film, I also liked Her in "The Legend of Hell House" and the Great Horror Film "The Innocents".

Does anyone know why three of the less popular titles (Pal Joey, Bite the Bullet, Major Dundee) are $34.95? They are the only TT titles with a higher price than the $29.95 norm. Is it because they're getting close to selling out? They are some of the earliest releases. I wouldn't think so because The Driver wasn't that high and Hard Times isn't. I was considering getting Bite the Bullet today until I noticed the higher price.

Back in the day, TT was testing different price points thus some titles had a $34.95 price point and others a $29.95 price point. TT eventually settled on the $29.95 price point but those titles with the original higher price retained that price. In terms of Major Dundee, it was priced higher because it was a two disc release.

If they lowered Bite the Bullet to 29.95 they would have another sale right now.

I appreciate how rare it is. But after buying 15 titles during the birthday sale, I can't really justify spending another $125 to get the freebie. I really wasn't expecting them to do another promo this soon.

I suspect a lot of other people were in a similar boat.

All of the $34.95 titles are licensed from Sony. I thought it was because Sony was asking for a higher license fee at the beginning. Just as I imagine the reason why most of the British titles licensed from Channel Four Films are priced at $24.95 because of a lower license fee.

Who? How rare is it? Especially seeing how I have never even heard of her.

If people want to order from Amazon (or Amazon Marketplace dealer) to shave a few bucks off the price, have at it. Like a few others have said, I'm satisfied with SAE and will continue to order direct from them.
First I want to thank oildude for doing such a great job keeping this thread updated. I think it is one of the most informative and up-to-date threads in this forum. Your hard work is very much appreciated.
Secondly, I have never criticized nor do I now criticize TT’s business model and I don’t want to reopen any of that discussion. I have bought many of their Blu-rays and intend on buying a few more. I have also had very good luck with SAE, both with their packaging and speed in shipping and have so posted in this thread.

But now however, I find that due to a couple of my recent posts being misunderstood, I now stand accused of implying that TT is “artificially manipulating the market so as to keep their prices high and thereby rob the poor unsuspecting fools who just want to buy their movies.”
To borrow a common phrase, “Come on Man!” I have never said, never implied and never thought such a ridiculous idea. How on earth can more sellers keep the prices high? If anything, competition usually helps lower prices.
I learned from a poster in this thread that TT blu-rays were now being sold on Amazon. Other posters were discovering other retailers, Importcds, Deep Discount, BN among them were now listing the same discs. This seemed to me to be such a major deviation from TT’s business model that I thought they probably had posted some notice on their facebook page concerning this news. It turned out that another poster in this thread did post a question to TT concerning this change. I have no idea exactly what he asked or how he phrased the question, but he did give TT’s response as a quote.

All that I did was post that that response did not tell us anything. I pointed out that it raised more questions than it answered. I certainly did not mean to imply that there was any kind of a conspiracy, just that it seemed clear that TT did not want to explain the change at least to that poster. The response seemed to suggest that Amazon had just bought some movies from SAE at the normal process as they could have always done, inferring that there was no change in their policy.
That just made no sense in light of the known facts that (1) Many of the major online retailers were now selling TT blu-rays, (2) They all started at about the same time, and (3) they were all selling the same movies. If anyone actually believes that all the retailers just happened to separately decide at the same time to buy the same movies from TT at retail prices, I have a bridge in New York I want to sell you.

Does this mean that there is some conspiracy going on? NO. It just means that TT did not want to give any real information to the poster. After my posts, another poster quoted TT as saying there would be some kind of an announcement about something at the end of next month. Will it cover this new development? Who knows? I look forward to any information they will give us.
Lastly, why does it matter anyhow? Who cares? One of the major benefits we get from following the posts in this forum is a heads-up on the latest information concerning Blu-rays. Getting fast accurate information has saved me both time and money. The alerts that others have posted has helped me very much. Am I opposed to this new potential change? No, but it may change when and from whom I buy TTs. I prefer to get the facts and not rely on probabilities. I think it is just good public relations to keep your clients informed.

Where did I say that you implied anything of the sort?

I was speaking to something that Widescreenfilmguy posted. And he didn't quote any previous message, so I'm not really sure to whom he was responding, if was even any specific person.

I responded to a posting of yours regarding questions that you feel need answers, but that's not the posting of mine you quoted here.
