Night of the Generals is excellent. One of the best films on Nazis in my opinion. Haven't seen Young Lions but that is short lived as I ordered it today.

Not so sure about that. Autographs by guys like David O Selznick or Louis B Mayer would be nice. Of course, both are dead so there's that. But Jerry Bruckheimer is alive.

I've always had a fondness for The Young Lions. It's a sprawling epic that drags in spots, but the cast list is compelling (Brando, Clift, and Dean Martin, not to mention Maximilian Schell, Lee van Cleef, and beautiful Hope Lange); Edward Dmytryk's direction is assured; and Hugo Friedhofer's score is outstanding.

I owned the LaserDisc and watched it two or three times back in the day, and am now planning on adding it to my blu-ray collection the next time I place an order with Twilight Time.

Hope that's helpful!

One word Brando. That's all that needs to be said.

But they are both good.

Agreed. I got this one purely because I wanted to see the movie and I already had four titles in my cart ready to be ordered, it's nice to have the autograph but if for some reason he forgot to sign mine it wouldn't bother me in the slightest

got the freebie, I look at it as a free title rather than a free signed title because if I dont already have it, the signature is basically a bonus.

For those on the fence with Zardoz it ends up Arrow Video is releasing it in the UK later this year. Wish I had waited.

As it stands, and no disrespect to the guy, but there isn't going to be a whole lot of appeal for the autograph of a businessman.
I went for this promo too ... 2 months in a row now. To be honest, from what I've read about U Turn, it isn't a movie I would probably buy. I have mixed emotions about picking it up as a freebie. At this point, I'm probably more interested in the special features (which sound entertaining) than the movie itself. But anyway, I had 4 titles in my cart that I really wanted. I didn't want to wait around for another month to see if "maybe" the next promo was going to be any better for me ... or the next promo could be something that I already own too. So instead of waiting and playing a guessing game, I just went for it. (Plus the 50% off Criterion sale from Barnes & Noble is expected to be happening in July. July could be an expensive month, just with that).

Just finished viewing my TT copy of Zardoz (1974). First time I've ever seen this movie.

Some parts I found quite riveting while other stretches were a bit of a chore to sit thru. But overall, very interesting experience.

Now that Arrow is looking to offer their version, Twilight Time might be wise to consider putting this one up for their 5th Anniversary Sale next year. Assuming of course that it doesn't sell out before then (latest was over 3000 sold).

Waited for what? It'll surely be Region B locked and I thought you didn't import.

I really enjoyed Zardoz, It's artsy and science fictiony but overall very entertaining, very thought provoking. I'd recommend it to anyone that's on the fence. BTW, The Arrow release is Region B only.

Does anybody know whether the English subtitles are burnt or not in "Mississippi Mermaid" with Jean Paul Belmondo?

I never saw enough locked discs to motivate me to buy a new player before, but maybe that's changing? Maybe, you know, the world turns and things change? I was never emotionally anti-import or anything, and have imported many region-free UK releases over the years.

For what it's worth, I was on the fence until recently and finally broke down and bought a UK player. It was easier and less hassle than going region free. The player will arrive in the next couple weeks.

So yeah, I'm right there with you in regretting my Zardoz purchase. I might get the Arrow anyway.

I thought about going that route but my experience with power conversion when I lived in Europe with American electronics was really frustrating, so it turned me off doing so. I'm just going to get a region-free Panasonic from world-import next week.

Wellll, to be fair, you did seem to kick up a bit of a fuss about how annoyed you were when people mentioned importing and you didn't want to open that can of worms, etc. I'm not trying to start anything, I just found it odd because based on past posts you seemed to be so against it and then all of a sudden you're talking of importing a locked title, which is why I mentioned that it was locked. In any event, I think it's a good thing because there's so many cool titles out there that are not available in Region A.

I write things in a confusing way sometimes. My main point then was people shouldn't act like no region A release is no big deal since there was a region B release, because 90% of people don't import. I just wrote in a way that made people think I was against importing I guess.

Either way it's all good. It might be something I regret if region-free players become hard to get down the line, but Arrow's stuff is too tempting.

It was Arrow's stuff that convinced me to finally get a region free player too.

For me, it was Eureka's stuff more than anything that made a region free player indispensable (I've been region free since 2008). The best part though is that you can order anything anywhere without worrying about codes.

Nice to see Arrow UK releasing some TT titles, to give a cheaper (and it seems, usually superior) option but more important to take the limited edition part out of the equation (although region B of course). If it happens more on a regular basis it will make it tough for some people to pull the trigger right away on TT.
