From a post by TT on HTF re: Christine being released by Sony:

It is (the first release of a TT title by a studio), and the only one thus far that the majors have shown any interest in - Sony/Columbia asked if they could have it back and we were happy to exchange it for some other films...that is exactly how the model was set up to work in the first place, as spelled out in the interview we did with HTF in December, 2011.

So, at least for now, Christine looks to be the only wide release. Since The Blob only came out last November the 3-year TT rights window won't run out on it until sometime in 2017 which would be the earliest a wide release in Region A could happen.

Great original artwork on House of Bamboo, I think it fits the noir tone of the movie perfectly

Really? I love it. Reminds me a lot of some of the covers to 1950s mystery magazines.

It's okay, but the style feels a little too modern for the movie. It kind of reminds me of these releases that Fox put out a while back that were trying too hard to be "artsy" with bold title treatments, bold colors, and faceless characters



And because it takes place in Asia, they're also clearly giving it that whole red, black, and yellow color scheme which has been overused for anything Asian ever since Kill Bill came out. I don't exactly get film noir from that cover, but more spy thriller in the vein of James Bond. One other nitpick is I would have liked to see Sam Fuller's name above the title.

It reminds me of George Salter's Mercury Mystery covers from 1955 like these:

I can't really say it compares that well to those in style, but tone perhaps. That first cover is very cool. Kind of reminds me of the use of colors on this Rififii poster, as well as the Fernando Di Leo BD sets.

Tone mostly, yes, but also somewhat in style. The use of color in the first, along with the faceless characters; the oblique angles in the second.

I like the covers you used as bad examples and like the Bamboo cover, so I think this just comes down to taste.

For the July releases I placed one order with SAE and the other with Twilight Time (Cinram). The SAE order has shipped, Cinram still pending.

Yeah, I noticed TT announced that both sites were shipping as of yesterday which means Cinram held the orders or at least didn't start shipping orders right away given they had to ship copies to TT which probably took a minimum of 1-2 days.

I also found it strange that SAE had received all of the titles the week prior to release. Lately there had been some delay where each title would trickle in due to late arrival from Cinram.

My TT/Cinram order changed from Awaiting Fulfillment to Awaiting Shipment as of yesterday morning.

I ordered The Fabulous Baker Boys ; my most wanted of the July titles from Cinram thinking it should ship early. Oh, well. It is not like I have nothing to watch already. :-)

I've rarely know Cinram to ship early. With FoxConnect sales, they usually held new releases until Friday/Sat and occasionally even Monday of release week. They would aggravate people by sending "Now Shipping" messages sometimes 2 weeks ahead and then hold the package and not give it to USPS r UPS until the last second..

That would be annoying since there is no purpose to do that except to delay shipments. If they ship on Monday then there is no way customers on the west coast will receive them by the release date.
