In that sense, I blame the studios themselves for using the blu-ray format as a marketing tool for the digital streaming services they hope will someday make blu-ray obsolete.
interesting point....

I mean, one reason for those dump bins and low cost studio releases is because people aren't supporting media like they used to. When people won't pay $20 for a catalog disc then Amazon reduces it, then that happens enough times they start coming out at the cheaper price so people buy them. Vanilla Sky came out at $8.99 on Amazon and someone asked in the thread if it was cheaper elsewhere. It's insane.

Not knowing anything of the movie, I found the previous cover to be more appealing. This new cover, especially with that title looks like a vintage Chinese restaurant menu to me.

Do any of the Twilight Time retailers offer free shipping over a certain order amount?

I am looking to order a few titles and wasn't sure if I could get a price break on shipping. Everywhere I've checked seems to charge per title.

On occasion TCM has a free shipping offer but given that they mark up the TT titles by $5 a piece it's not worth. In the rare occasion a TCM discount coupon may work on the TT titles and then it might be worth ordering from them.

Neither TT nor SAE are currently offering free shipping. SAE did offer a coupon for $4 off of the shipping costs for the 4th of July. Someone else also mentioned receiving a coupon from their latest order for free shipping for the next round of preorders. However, this is an extremely rare occasion.

On July 29th Twilight Time is offering $5 off shipping on orders over $50.

It is good for use on July 29th only.

The code is SHIPPING5.

adding: THIS CODE IS FOR TWILIGHT TIME MOVIES AT THE SCREEN ARCHIVES WEBSITE. It's meant to coincide with the pre-order date for their August movies.

Thanks, is this code for use the twilighttimemovies.com website?

Also, do they charge the same flat shipping cost per title, even if you order multiple titles in one order, or is there a break after the first title?

This is perfect timing because there are 2 or 3 titles I was looking to get!

I should have been more specific -- I received that code from my last order from SCREEN ARCHIVES. It slipped my mind that TT just opened their own website. It's a SCREEN ARCHIVES code.

Here's the exact wording of the coupon I received:

"Thanks for your recent order! Take $5 off shipping for your next Twilight Time order with a minimum $50 purchase. This offer is only good for one-time and one day use on July 29th! Use SHIPPING5 at checkout."

For first class mail, first title is $2.99 and the second bumps it up to $3.49. After that 3-5 titles bumps it up to priority mail for $5.99. The next tiered step is $8.99.

Question

Without scrolling backwards I remember reading a negative post about shipping / packaging from the new TT site. No padding, maybe a damaged case ?

Trying to decide if I should try TT directly Wednesday, for Guess Who's Coming To Dinner.

If TT is using a padded mailer like SAE, that'd be fine by me.

You could email the Twilight Time support email address and ask? I know TT mentioned they were working out the kinks with the new site and were looking at packaging options. They might have made a change since the first preorder period.

I love Japanese movies and I like the idea of TT releasing movies from the land of the rising sun. I have tried watching The Little House on two occasions and just could not do it...found very boring to be completely honest.

There's just so many great Japanese movies that I would recommend before The Little House. For those who are intriged and want to see a Japanese movies that is not samurai or action related...please, PLEASE try watching anything directed by Yasujiro Ozu .
