I never bought the original, so I've never screened in my home theater. It's a 'must buy', but hopefully for closer to $20.

Yeah, something was missing from that review. It's like a cake with a missing ingredient. I'll replace my HDDVD copy with this release. Love that lonely guitar music at the front and back of this picture. I turn the sound up a bit for that.

I think Sony's 4k scans of 35mm films are some of the most impressive discs on the format so far. Everyone has different priorities. If you want HDR "pop" and clear images then I doubt this disc will light your fire, but if you want an amazing film look then I bet it does.

P.S. WhySoBlu reviews should not determine anyone's purchasing decision.

I would never look at this proposition as selling a loose disc BD. Who does this lol? And who buys loose BD's with no cover art for 15 bucks? LOL. Good luck with that.
Not everyone cares about slipcovers, missing discs, etc. I've seen certain single discs sold before for decent prices and if I recall, the remastered BD on its own is not coming out until later? Some people are not going to jump into UHD BD and assuming the UHD BD is superior, I couldn't care less about the BD or "incompleteness". I want the best presentation for the best price especially talking $30 for a single movie when I've bought this movie over a couple of different formats already.

I suppose most of you of are coughing up the coin to get this on release date. Just wondering if many are ok with this price point for a title which has been in the consumer market for 20+ years.

It's one of my all-time favorites but I'm not about to drop $30+ for it. Even with Goodfellas, I only bought it release date cuz BB was still doing that "Buy 2 Save $10 Buy 3 Save $20" promo. If/when it comes down to $20 or I find a reasonably priced eBay copy, I'll snag it.

Got the UK one on order for £18 (about $23) and the UV code will bring that down nicely. I'm in.

I'm fine paying $30 for a new 4K release. I'm used to it now. Not fine paying $38, however.

Oh and WB is only sending stores 2 copies each. So get there early or you will be waiting for a restock.

Won't be a problem if they don't reduced that price.

It's honestly catalog titles that make more sense having a higher price. They sell less, are more niche, and niche products mean niche prices. New release movies on disc are still relatively mainstream. So I have never understood the whole "this is an old movie and therefore worth less" thing. It's the opposite of true. For a great movie like this, with a new 4k remaster, I don't even hesitate at $30.

That's not the way it works. You pay more for new releases because it's the first "window" after theatrical release, so you can watch the movie at home earlier than anybody else (at least theoretically).

You can't ask the same price for a movie that has been on free TV for 20 years, no matter how good it is. And Warner knows it too, that's why they are keeping the remastered BD exclusive to the UHD package for a few months...

The standard BD will be 10 or 12 dollars tops and it comes from the same 4K master.

You are basically paying $30 because of the new format, not the actual movie in this case...

What?! It's gets docked a whole half-point in its score, and suddenly you're dropping a bollock?! Based on what Brandon Peters said about Unforgiven's UHD presentation, it may have the exact opposite problem that Michael Reuben had with GoodFellas' UHD presentation with regards to black levels. According to Reuben, GoodFellas looked far too bright when it came to its black levels, but according to Peters, Unforgiven is a much darker-looking presentation, albeit you can still make out the shadow details (at least, he could). Maybe Warner Bros. tinkered with the black levels for GoodFellas to compensate for the HDR on 35mm material, but perhaps enough people like Reuben complained, and they listened, and decided to leave theblack levels alone with Unforgiven. I am very cautiously optimistic with this one. Then again, I did foresee Hillary beating Trump, so take that with a grain of salt.
