What I do is keep the HDR Optimizer set to "On" at all times but have it set to the Super Luminance Setting (1,500 nits). The reason for this is that I feel like the C9 does great with tone mapping the image up to about 1,400 nits or so. I also have my Dynamic Tone Mapping on my C9 set to "On" as well. Now, as most people know LG's Dynamic Tone Mapping Setting overcooks the picture, making it way too bright at times. So to compensate for that, I go into the HDR Options Menu on the 820 and set the Dynamic Range Adjustment slider to -6. This in turn lowers the overall brightness of the picture, revealing more highlight detail that was blown out by LG's Dynamic Tone Mapping Setting. The reason why I set all of this up like this is that I noticed that LG's Tone Mapping by itself is relatively dimmer than other competitor OLEDs (Sony's and Panasonic's). But with these settings, I can get a brighter picture that dynamically changes without the issues that is brought by LG's Dynamic Tone Mapping setting. Mind you, my set is calibrated so these settings could look different to you or anyone else. And these settings are not 100% perfect by any means. None the less, I feel as though I don't need to worry about turning things "On" or "Off." I can just sit back, relax, and watch my movies. So, I encourage you if you want to look at these settings and try them out. But it's your TV and you can do whatever you want with it! ![]() |

That's what happened with mine, so the trick would not have worked since the tray was already sticking out almost halfway, as was the disc once I pulled the tray all the way out. Good to know should it not eject at all in the future. |

The chap working on the software mod noted that the player does a lot of stuff in the background that isn't needed, so if he can get it to work it should speed things up quite a bit. Really we should have an option to go to a Disc Only mode for our players, we don't all need Apps running in the background.

They are as far as I know, not sure how much uninstalling them will improve performance, not sure if it's even possible? The chap doing the mod found a kernel bug which takes up 50% of the CPU, so that will probably be a bigger benefit.

I do that same with my 55oledbx and 50qn94a as I share the ub820 between them. Leaving the optimiser setting on at 1500 nits and then the tvs doing their thi ng is convenient for me. |

I did a search and didn't see anything, has anyone played a video from a USB thumb drive on this player? I downloaded a movie, MKV file, and it plays fine on my computer thru a media player but this player says "cannot play file". The file shows up correctly just won't play it. Setting issue? something else?? Thx!

Pretty sure I had a 2.0 Dolby Digital option chosen as my computer doesn't do DTS MA and it wouldn't let me choose those options, there were a lot of audio options but they were all DD or DTS-MA that I saw.
From what i read the number one reason it will not play a file on USB is a corrupted file but like I said it played fine on my computer?? I'm downloading it again just to be sure it's not the file |
