It's an... interesting... complement to their "Supreme Cinema Series" which does appear to understand (if not provide) the value of 4K-sourced content.

Really tempted to blind buy. I've only heard good things about the movie, and the set is a steal right now...

And that's the nail on the head: given that they've just re-released three popular catalogue titles for this remastered Blu-ray line in a speshul case, they're not gonna put them out straightaway on UHD lest they be accused of gouging the fan base. And they're not gonna give up any crown jewels (Lawrence) straight away either so we're faced with some distinctly middle-of-the-road type stuff.

I'd say "middle-of-the-road" is kind. I just wish they'd at least found a couple of film-originated catalog titles to include so that there'd be something in the initial batch that would hint at the potential of the format. And I'm surprised that the CE manufacturers didn't offer them enough incentive to do so.

I see. Well, I already had the other editions, so it's all good.

Couldn't help but jump on today's deal. I guess the Blu-ray format's underwhelming adoption does provide some benefit: when you gotta sell product, you sell it at a low price.

I've been lucky enough to see the film in theaters multiple times, and it's incredible every time. I'm always amazed at how quickly 4 hours flies by.

Got in before the wait became 1 to 3 weeks? People jumped on this once the word got out.

Yeah, I got my order in right before that, when said it may take an extra one or two days to process. From there it went on to the week/three week wait.

Damn, impressive size. Didn't know that service was pushing out such file sizes. Shame I assume it has DRM, so I can't support it.

I've got the regular release and when I saw the collector edition for sale I decided to watch it for the very first time to see if I should double dip. I've got about an hour left, they're blowing up trains now. The movie is okay but I'm still searching for the Masterpice everyone else is describing...

Do you like anything you own? You're having the same issue with X-Files I believe. Might be time to try a Netflix disc membership and try these discs out before purchasing.

I finished it. The more I watched the more it felt like Lawrence was deranged and psychotic. Also, the sense of time felt off. How this thing won so many awards is beyond me They must not have ventured too far away from the backlot in the 60's.

Sometimes when I watch bonus content I appreciate things more, but I'm not sure I'll be watching this one again.

I will say though, I'd way rather watch this again than Spielberg's Lincoln.

I know right? I sold a lot of what I bought last year but if you look at my collection you can see I kept a reasonably decent mix of things.

Sometimes its hard to find things online. X-Files I got really cheap and I'd rather watch Blu-ray than stream...but of course, I'd rather like what I own.

I just mainly have a hard time with movies that occur before present day. I remember the couple references to Lawrence of Arabia in Prometheus though, that was interesting.

And too, I should have added, one can't rent X-Files on Blu from Netflix.

Also I have my share of movies that were blind buys, that I wish maybe I hadn't been so blind about.
