The AVS Forum did not give it a stellar review either. I am just going to rent it on BluRay from Redbox when it comes out this week.

Okay then. That's all you had to say in the beginning and then move on.

Go to 'User CP' (control panel), select Edit Ignore List , then type in the user name and click save or ok (not sure of button name), and it's done.

The same can be said for sound, many of the Dolby Atmos movies do not take advantage of Atmos, one would assume because of production cost. Very few movies comes close to the Dolby Atmos demo disc in terms of sound element use. |

"But Geoff, don't they just do upscaled VFX in most modern 4K finishes regardless?" That's correct Timmy, but nowadays so much is VFX oriented (even stuff you wouldn't think was CG, like Black Panther's suit) that I think the studios go "meh, what's the point in finishing in 4K if the damned thing's gonna have so much VFX anyways?" so they're sticking with 2K until the usage of 4K VFX - pointless 95% of the time or not - becomes more widespread. Still, it was encouraging to hear from a guy who worked on the VFX for Doctor Strange who said that the workflow for the Infinity War movies WAS going to be in 4K, and that makes sense given that the whole thing is being shot on the marquee IMAX cameras (albeit the Alexa 65 and not 15/65mm). Indeed. As much of a mark for 4K HDR as I am, it's not about getting something that's blazingly bright, sharp and crystal clear EVERY time. Cinematography is an art form, not a contest. (And I realise the irony therein given how much I b*tch about GITS but there it's about the UHD being one of the most minuscule 4K upgrades I've yet seen, not so much about super duper visuals in and of themselves but just SOMETHING that really marks it out from the BD would've been nice.) |
