Default Ticket Refund

Have you ever gotten your ticket refunded for a movie you simply did not enjoy?

I have only asked for ticket refunds for movies that have had catastrophic technical foul-ups. Anyone who sits through a movie and demands their money back because "It sucked" is an idiot.

Yup. I can't blame a theater for showing a crappy movie, but I can blame them for showing it in a crappy way.

Here’s an idea: don’t insult those who what to do that. Why? Because I’ve done that many times. Granted, I’ve also gotten thrown out of the theater each time but you can’t call me an idiot for trying, can you?

Nah... their statement was 100% valid. It’s the equivalent to eating an ENTIRE meal and then demanding a refund because you didn’t enjoy the taste. Bad form!

In my defense, the waiter spat on my food.

Because your criticism is invalid if you bail early, and nearly the entire reason we post here is to discuss movies.

No, nor did I ever give any out in my youth when I worked at a theatre.

I remembered when the first 3d IMAX preview night showing of Kong: SI. As soon as the old IMAX countdown in 3d started, you could tell something was off as one of the lenses was darker than the other and the screen was double visioned blurred. A group of people including myself ran back to the BO and though the glasses were messed up and got another pair but it turned out to be that someone at the projection booth forgot to turn on the 3d projector(?). There were a lot of angry people, except me I just waited and they gave us all passes and we went back and the movie's 3d mode was back on but they didn't restart the movie.

Other time for GotGv2, as soon as the UNIVERSAL LOGO came up, I realized they ****ed up again since F&F was playing in IMAX previously. Once again someone ****ed up and didn't set the projector system to play the right movie.

I've seen some disappointing movies in the theater, but I was never petty enough to demand a refund for them.

Like an idiot, I paid to see Leprechaun. I hated it and wanted to leave, but my boyfriend drove and he enjoyed it. I got up to use the restroom, and tried to sneak into the auditorium showing TMNT III. I got busted by a pimply-faced usher, which was humiliating. "You have to watch the movie you paid for, ma'am." "What if the movie I paid for SUCKS?" That's the closest I've ever come to asking for a refund due to the movie being awful.

If it’s any comfort, Turtles 3 was pretty shitty too.

Back in highschool a big group of people went to see Captain Corelli's Mandolin. A friend and I were bored with it so we talked to management and exchanged our tickets from that to Rat Race.

From the moment the trailers end and the feature actually begins, you have 20 minutes to decide if you want to stick with the movie. If, within that first 20 minutes, you decide not to, you can go to the box office or customer service desk and get a refund. If you don't believe me, go ahead and try it. It's always worked for me.

You should only request or demand a refund if the theater is unable to present or show the movie the way it was supposed to. Technical malfunctioning or bad calibrating could be a solid reason to ask for your money back.

If you went to see Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! thinking it would be a modern Citizen Kane and 10 minutes in you were like "oh my God, what is this shit?" then joke's on you. You deserve to not only lose your money but to pay an extra fee for being an idiot.

The incremental cost of showing the movie to each person is $0. It doesn't harm the theater to provide refunds to people who leave early in the movie, it's good customer service. No one should have to pay for something they don't like.
These sense of entitlement some people here have is truly staggering. If movie theatres or any cultural/entertainment venues would have to compensate costumers on account of their personal tastes, we’d see the loss of those venues. We all take calculated risks with our choices, nobody can guarantee you your happiness.
