Can we redo the MCU where it all revolves around Scarlett Witch? Thanks. That would be great.

Default Just back from viewing Infinity War...

I don't know how to express my astonishment of this film.

The thing that keeps going through my mind is;

They did it... Marvel actually went there! I cannot believe they went THERE!

The Russo Brothers;

The audience reaction where I was was stunned at the end, by the credits scrawl.
People seemingly ready to applaud, but were more like

It was amazing taking in the reactions.

Four and a half stars...

Thanos, an intergalactic supervillain with diabolical plans for the future of the universe, sends his minions to Earth to finish collecting the Infinity Stones that will enable him to carry out his wishes with absolute power by bending the rules of space, time, and even reality. The only hope for the survival of our world is the Avengers team, who must restore their fractured forces and fight off the threat by combining their unique individual abilities and talents. None of them have ever encountered an evil like Thanos before, however, and the ensuing battles, which take place on multiple fronts, raise the stakes with the possibility of unthinkable casualties and losses. The intellect of heroes like Iron Man and Spider-Man, the charismatic bravery of Captain America, Black Panther, and Black Widow, the strengths of Thor and the Incredible Hulk, the mystical supernatural abilities of Doctor Strange, Scarlet Witch, and Vision, and even the foolhardy space adventure recklessness of the Guardians of the Galaxy may not be enough to save the day.

Avengers: Infinity War is the dauntingly ambitious epic that the previous 18 films in the Marvel Universe have been working toward since 2008, and, like its predecessors, it manages to live up to the hype with a thrillingly multifaceted narrative that takes immense risks while only rarely making a misstep. Instead of being a mere “Marvel's Greatest Hits” cash cow full of obligatory short cameos and storytelling bloat, as the trailers have suggested, this latest entry hits the right notes with each and every character, and draws its strengths from the endearing personality nuances that we have been introduced to in all of the origin stories and ensemble adventures to date. If you are not well-versed in the previous films, then I recommend that you revisit them before lining up for this latest feature. Directors Anthony Russo and Joe Russo, who helmed my two favorite Marvel movies so far, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War, hit the ground running with the opening sequence, which blends tragedy and levity to a splendid result. From there, this film continues to build momentum, and the final scenes, which had all of us in the audience tonight gasping out loud and even had several people around me in tears, give us a cliffhanger for the ages.

Thanos, as played by Josh Brolin, is an unexpectedly pleasant surprise here. He is the most formidable Marvel villain so far, and his ultimate mission, to “save” the planets of the universe by committing genocide on a mass scale to prevent overpopulation, is depicted not as insane folly, but as a calculated decision of losses and rewards, like the choices that are made by numerous military leaders and rulers in the real world. Viewers may not love Thanos in the end, but everyone will ultimately understand him.

Be sure to stick around for the post-credits scene, which shocks and surprises us even more, instead of merely serving as a comical cooldown from the weighty dramatics that have preceded it.

Avengers: Infinity War is not the best entry in the Marvel franchise, but it's pretty great.

I'm often known for my really long posts on other threads, but I'm going to keep this short and sweet.

My review of this movie: Impressive. Most Impressive.

DO NOT see this movie if you are not caught up with the previous MCU movies. Seeing pretty much all of them is necessary. Arguments could be made for skipping a couple, but for the most part I suggest seeing them all. Thor Ragnarok and Black Panther, including the mid/post credit scenes, are very important to have seen before seeing Infinity War.

I wasn't a huge fan of the ending, but this movie never let up and for that reason I consider it to be one of the best movie going experiences as far as a MCU film is concerned. While every other movie has scenes that lag and give you time to breathe, this one is just nonstop.

Doctor Strange was my MVP though.

Quite a good movie and a very admirable job by the Russos given what they had to do here. Definitely the best made of the Avengers movies with the lack of Whedon's cringe inducing dialog/'humor' (not saying all of his stuff is but some is...like that opening sequence of the original Avengers, that is just terrible).

Honestly, not that many things were moments as almost any "bombshell" was pretty easily predicted. There were probably 2-3 things that were completely unexpected as far as reveals/big happenings go. That's not really a problem of course, just more of a statement of the facts.

I'm mixed on the ending because having
[Show spoiler]Black Panther and Spider-Man disappear
immediately telegraphs that some of the 'consequences' of the film are not going to stick. Had that not happened, I would have walked out saying "holy crap...can't believe they did that..."

I need to see it again to process more of the finer details of course; the movie is full speed ahead from start to finish and you barely have a minute to catch up.

Was also surprised at how small a part
[Show spoiler]Cap
had. Post-Credit scene was also pretty safe/expected.

Thanos though, absolutely perfect for what he needed to be. Fantastic job by the writers and Brolin.

Initial Rating - 4/5

This Avengers movie is the most audacious movie in history. So bold and daring and just damn cool. It really is Marvel’s own Empire Strikes Back in all the best ways possible.

10/10 all day long!

Exact same here. That last shot hit the screen, the credits started, and the whole crowd just kinda rocked back in their seats and didn't talk for almost two full minutes. Finally, this one guy near me let out a "What???!!!" and that broke it open, everybody just started talking all at once. Never seen anything like it...
