Seeing Saruman's fate was much better than "He's dead, move along." And of course there was the Legolas/Gimli drinking contest.
That was incredibly stupid and a very big FUBAR on Jackson's part. Not to mention the showdown with Gandalf and the Witch King.

haha, Gandalf got ****ing PWND. The Witch King made him look like a pathetic, weak geezer in dire need of Viagra.

He is very important. His lie deeply affects the perception of the 'final battle'.

I wouldn't pick this up even if the PQ was 10/5 and Frodo walked out of my TV.

Yes somethings in the ROTK werent in the book, all he was trying to do was add more tension. BUT yes, if you havent seen the EE's you simply havent seen the movie imo.

Three that I know of: Theatrical, Extended, and the Theatrical/Extended seamless branching combo re-release. The original extended release is the best IMO, as the re-release doesn't have any of the original comprehensive special features, it just has a documentary made just for the re-release.

No it wasn't. It answered all possible questions from non-readers pondering what happened to Saruman, and removes what would've been an ANTI-CLIMAX in the Scouring of the Shire.

The Witch King also looked pretty pathetic. There was no particular reason as to why he didn't just finish Gandalf then and there.

The witch king was pulled away by something that was happening at that moment, can't remember exactly. But as already stated that part wasn't even in the book it was just placed there by PJ for tension. So, really he could do whatever he wanted with the scene cause it was his creativity anyways. This trilogy, of course, is unfilmable the way it was written by Tolkien. To make it work smoothly he made additions to help keep the story moving, such as the Gandlaf/Witch King stand-off to show that "Hey, men COULD be defeated." The most important aspect of this film that none of us should forget is that the MOST care was taken possible to make this film true to the book in one man's vision, Frodo and the ring. We all have different visions and there will be some things we may never agree on. Personally, I think he did a better authentic job showing tolkiens story than anyone else could have.

Many scenes in the movie is excactly how Tolkien has written them in the book

These films couldn't have been more faithful to the book. They are masterpieces to the point of perfection

Jackson and his team did try to stay as faithfull as possible since they had full creative control.

Obviously, you didn't see what I put in bold in my other quote. I wasn't talking about Saruman; I was talking about the stupid drinking contest being a complete disaster.

In answer to why the witch king left Gandalf Rohan had arrived on the battlefield. He heard the horns of the Rohirrim and subsequently responded to this more immediate threat to his siege.

The arrival of the Rohirrim is what sent WK off to the fields, and it still doesn't explain why he did not just kill gandalf, then go.

We all have different visions. This moment, I recall was in the book with a different location in the city(Also, didn't Wk have a horse in the book?)

Okay. If it were me, I'd take out the more powerful guy while I had him, and THEN go to face rohan.
