I have the UBD K85000 and the Yamaha RX-V381 connected to a Samsung KS8000.
Although tv says its 2160 and HDT I'm not sure if im getting a 4k picture. The Revenant looks like the standard bluray to my eyes. I was expecting a huge leap in PQ. I've seen further back in this thread advice saying: "Turn off all video processing and GUI overlay settings in the receiver (either off or pass-through, depending on the model) as those can mess with the purity of the video signal along the way" Can anyone tell me how I switch of video processing on this receiver? I'm wading through the manual but can't find it. I have the receiver set to Mode 1 as instructed. Thanks, Stuart. |

Hi rocky. Tv is 4k and HDR. It's certified as ultra HD premium.
Cheers, Stuart. |

I'm comparing the Revenant on 4k and the standard bluray right now. I'm now tending to think there is a difference but hope it's just not me trying to convince myself! Cheers, Stuart. |

Thanks for the replies.
I think I'm happy that I have got 4k output. Having spent the evening doing the comparison on the 4k and standard bluray for The Revenant did show differences. The picture seems to have more detail in the background, giving more depth to the picture. Also much brighter colours, which I assume is the HDR effect. Yes I have switched on UHD colour on HDMI 4 on the TV. I do think my expectations were too high! Cheers, Stuart. |

No. It's HDR plus higher bit depths (12 rather than 10) plus wider color along with dynamic, per-scene customization via metadata per DV display. It's a complete package.
The display and the player must have DV along with DV encoding of the disc or streaming media. |

Hi. Update on my quest for confirmation on 4k output - just watched Deepwater Horizon. Must say as well as it being a very good film, I was very, very impressed with the picture. Very detailed and excellent depth, almost 3D like.
Incredible special effects and great acting. |

As far as I'm concerned, HDR is not a requirement to enjoy an improved picture. Although, it does help. ![]() |
