That is what makes it so hard, unfortunately some people can have it for months.

It does cripple some people. Some people have permanent loss of lung function and they just chopped of a 41 year old actors leg. also i wonder how long the lost of taste and smell will last. If you lose all taste for your life that would be pretty horrible.

if it only lasted a couple of days it probably was the flu not the corona virus this thing seems to stick around for ages.

You have to enter your info exactly the way it’s listed on your tax return.

The virus is clearly not as deadly as anyone thought, we need to open things back up.

I think the loss of smell/taste is temporary. It destroys the nerve fibers in the nose, which can regenerate over time.

The shutdown was for limiting hospitalizations not because of how deadly it was. Can't believe people don't understand that.

Also, this shutdown has stopped it from becoming worse, which was the point.

not necessarily

I don't think there will ever be an old normal, but what ever happens there will be a new normal. What happens, what people accept and how people will act will determine that new normal will be (with or without a vaccine)
Glad to know there is no light at the end of the tunnel then.

Still does not gauge how effective a lock down is, and even experts seem divided in the best way to deal with this pandemic, I still feel more thought has to go into the effect it will have on the global economy, which at the end of the day will affect us all, Sweden's state epidemiologist Anders Tegnell, thinks the country may achieve "herd immunity" as early as next month, so I guess only time will tell.

Sweden's death rate is much higher than in its Nordic neighbours which is the point you raised, but it remains comfortably better off than much more locked-down countries of a similar population size such as Belgium, so not as bleak as some where predicting before Sweden decided to go it's own way.

Not that cruel, there is no denying the current pandemic or it's risks to peoples health, but my issue is there is no exact model on how to best deal with this, and as I have said before even the experts are divided on this.

Could’ve been worse, be grateful that the requirement for the Real ID driver’s license was delayed by DHS until late next year, as around here, before that DHS announcement, we’ve had to bring lawn chairs as standing for hours be it 6 ft. apart or not, can be difficult for a lot of folks.

In all likelihood a vaccine eventually will be developed.

Bottom line is that until a vaccine (or less likely, the virus mutates and stabilizes into a much less virulent form) or a proven effective medical therapy has been found and is readily available, honestly it’s a roll of the dice as to how/where on the spectrum an infected individual will respond to it…..from having no/minor symptoms to death. So, for the sake of yourself and others, until we have either of the above, best to carry on with disciplined public health guidelines (social distancing, hand washing, trying not to touch your face, etc.)

P.S.
Sometimes I feel this short interlude characterizes the relationship at the current time between the coronavirus (Dirty Harry) and mankind (the guy lying on the sidewalk) and apparently protestors in some states are feeling lucky –

Did you file in both 2018 and 2019, for the year's prior salary of course, and get a federal refund through your bank via direct deposit both times?

My brother was having the same issues, then after going through everything 5 times he says, what if I didn't file in 2019. A duh.

Then we are doomed! Because that is our ONLY hope of getting through this and here's why...

The Coronavirus had to have started with just a handful of people. Then of course, it spread and lo and behold, it's all over the globe. If we could not contain the spread by simply quarantining those handful of people, then how on earth is it possible to contain the spread when over 2 million people are now infected?? How are you going to locate and quarantine 2 million people, especially when a good number of them don't even know they have the virus??

Sure we can get those numbers down by staying at home and keep distance, but the numbers are already out of control and there will always be someone somewhere who is not going to do what he/she is supposed to do and thus, it will still spread to some sort of a degree. It will truly never end.

I had to wear a mask for the first time when I went to Target this morning. Our governor had made a recommendation to wear masks on Friday’s public announcement.
