Forgive my ignorance on what I'm about to ask....

I know some people may take up to two weeks to show symptoms or may just develop a simple cold but are still contagious, but are there actually positive people that NEVER actually get sick at all?

Not to mention it kills two weekends out of my Spring/Summer. I work five days a week and only get weekends free to enjoy the sunny weather. But two weekends have to be completely sacrificed. The Saturday of Mother's Day weekend, I have to spend the afternoon taking my mom out since she prefers eating out that day since restaurants are less crowded. And Sunday, I have to go visit her, bring her a gift and celebrate the day since that is the actual day of Mother's Day. Same goes for Father's Day weekend.

Don't get me wrong, I love my parents. But why can't Mother's Day and Father's Day be in the winter? Spring/Summer is so short here in NY and I want to spend my weekends outdoors enjoying the sun!

But not a problem this year as this virus will completely ruin summer for me.

You might want to try an optical shop at a teaching hospital, as they may open for non-urgent needs sooner than private practices or businesses. Locally, the University hospital in my neck of the woods is scheduling for early May.

Speaking of spectacles, my drivers license had expired. I had forgotten about it. So I decided to finally go in and renew it. This was last month when things were still open, but social distancing was being practiced.

The DMV was only letting 10 people in at a time. Folks standing in line outside (me) were standing 6' away from one another. It was kinda surreal.

I get inside, fill out the paperwork, take my pic, then promptly failed the eye exam. The clerk said, are you reading the right line? Lol. Yes! Do you want to try numbers, he asked? Yes. Did I pass? No. Did you read the right line? Yes! Lol. Tried to explain I hadn't had my coffee yet (it was early). He didn't seem to care. So he prints out this form and says your license is temporary until you see an eye doc and he fills it out.

I have the wife make me an appointment. Due to the CV19 I was able to get in that day. Doc said he normally sees 20 patients a day, today only 5. Anyway, to make a long story short, he checked the "wrong" box. I said, doc, really? Are you sure? Yes, he replied. I'm pretty sure I don't need glasses, I said. You do.

So in typical Wabo fashion I put the form on my desk and completely forgot about it. Now everything is closed.

Not sure what I was trying to say here. File it under an old curmudgeon rambling. I still don't think I need glasses.

Funny that ABC stores are essential, but optometrists are not.
I got mine at Zenni online. Great product and they can be quite cheap as well.

This is what I don't get.

The White House says we need to test more. The scientists say we need to test a ton more. Pence said we have the availability to be able to test on a grand scale just yesterday....

Yet, all signs say we are testing less. Out of what, 328 MILLION, we haven't even cleared 4 million yet?

Has anyone answered what the actual hold up is?

Bureaucracy and procedure. I heard New Mexico is going to be used as kind of a pilot program state, guessing that means widespread testing so we can re-open businesses and schools.

Yep, some just get mild symptoms and some, like actor Idris Elba never had a single thing wrong with him. I'm guessing he was close to someone that got it, so he got tested, but he said he never had any symptoms.

A local radio DJ near here came out Thursday that she has the virus. She said she had allergy stuff going on, but just that it felt off.

I mean, I have bad allergies right now, but nothing that I don't have every spring, so if this is the virus, how would I know?

I don't have the main symptoms, fever or bad cough, so doubt I could even get approved to get a test anyways.

Yep, that's why this thing is so scary. Some die, some get mild symptoms no worse than a cold or a bit of intestinal upset, some get more moderate symptoms, and some never show a single symptom and have no idea they ever had it.

Well, think of it this way - it will be an interesting experiment. Now we wait to see what happens. Sadly, we're experimenting with other people's lives too, not just the dummies that went to the beach.

If some of those beach goers get sick and start spreading it, it will solidify other states to keep things closed until things are under better control.

I was running into that issue when I wore mine to Wal-Mart. I could barely see, between my glasses fogging up and it partly blocking a bit of my vision. I was practically in panic mode out there. People say just wear masks everywhere, but people who wear glasses are at a serious disadvantage due to their glasses fogging.

With certain masks, fogged up glasses means it's not properly sealed up on top. I use it as a test to make sure I have it on correctly. I'm using an n-95 sports masks with exhaust ports.

Not entirely fair fella, your population is much higher, so you will always have more cases.

Your Mother's an adult for goodness sake. If she'd rather risk her life and yours for something relatively trivial, then she needs a ear-bashing.

Text her a picture of a bouquet of flowers and a bowl of pasta and tell her you love her.
Sweden have had 13822 cases and 1511 deaths, with a reported 550 people recovered from the infection, no lock down in Sweden as you say, very little scientific evidence to say a lock down is very effective, and of course the social structure of an individual country comes into play as well.

Move your glasses forward on your nose a little bit. Really helps with the fogging.

Sweden currently has both more deaths per capita and a more rapid spike in new cases than the US. Relative to population, their strategies have been less effective than any Nordic country.
