Ireland's Department of Health has asked all pubs & bars to close from tonight until the 29th of March. That means no pubs & bars will be open in Ireland on St. Patrick's Day. There is also a ban on parties taking place in private houses & other venues across the country to avoid a further spread of the virus. Unfortunately there has been another increase of Covid-19 cases across the island of Ireland. There are 169 cases in the Republic & 45 cases confirmed in Northern Ireland.

The UK has also made proposals that elderly people aged over 70 should self-isolate in their homes for 4 months beginning in a matter of weeks.

There are now 35 people who have died from Covid-19 in the UK.

Damn, I hope they both are ok and nothing comes of it.
I wouldn't be stressing so much if all I had to do was worry for myself. But the thought of my mom or other family members who it would hurt the most just stresses the hell out of me.

Default Will COVID-19 impact Blu-ray production?

Just wondering what everyone's thoughts on what the impact will be on Blu-ray production? It seems like everything is going through a process of closing down, and it's only a matter of time before it has an impact on Blu-ray companies.

Just wondering what impacts those might be and if we might cease getting new titles for awhile? Just wondering what everyone thinks?

I will have to cross that bridge if it comes to it and make a decision.

Also as others have mentioned myself and my bf were both extremely sick mid-January. We were both told it was the flu however neither one of us has ever been that bad before. We were both out of work for a full week and had to call the doctor multiple times and even get a chest X-ray. Maybe a coincidence maybe not. I know that my main issue was that I had a extremely hard time breathing.
That is definitely the prime symptom of the flu (along with uncontrollable coughing). Same as I had in Feb. 2016. Prior to that I had the flu numerous times in my 20s, 30s and 40s. Stayed in bed a few days. Ate chicken soup, drank lots of fluids and took over-the-counter flu medicine. Took about 2 or 3 days to recover. But I was 64 when it hit me like a ton of bricks.

GET A FLU SHOT!

Entirely possible though I’ve never once thought about it. Not concerned if we wait awhile for new discs. It’s a tiny drop in the bucket compared to other problems in the world

Thats who I'm worried about. My mom and dad are both in their seventies. Luckily they are both retired and really don't have to go anywhere. Its just a matter of getting my dad to stop running out to stores everyday. It has nothing to with the virus he just always goes to Shop Rite and Wal-Mart normally anyway and he doesn't need to do that right now. I told him if they need anything just give me the list and I will go.

That 4/20 date coincides with NYC school closures.

It will probably increase demand. As people go out less they'll want more home entertainment.

According to current reports, Italy's ICU's in the worst-hit north are being overwhelmed, which is what we're trying to avoid here in the U.S. Any pandemic runs the risk of exceeding healthcare capacity, period. Follow the CDC/Coronavirus task force guidelines for interrupting transmission & avoiding exposure, period. Bottom line is to do your part the best you can in helping your community to slow down/prevent the spread of this highly contagious virus. Don't be stubborn, uncooperative & just plain stupid.

Possible that May, June, July and farther out than August get delayed. The artwork comes from one place the cases from another. The discs are usually made in Mexico and then everything has to be shipped to wherever it is all put together. Then shipped out to the territories, put in warehouse, put on trucks and then put on the shelves.

Possibly, but people also need to work so they can earn a living to pay for the necessities that they need (food, shelter, etc.).

I've heard the Doctor Who: The Collection BD sets (at least the UK ones) are at least partially assembled in Italy (Milan is where I heard) and the upcoming S14 set has already been delayed as a result. But as AKORIS said, delays like this are a drop in the bucket.

Federal Reserve cuts rates to zero to support economy during coronavirus pandemic

Just over a month ago, I refinanced my mortgage from a 30-year fixed to a 15-year fixed through Quicken Loans. I thought that the interest rates would never get better than they were then. I guess I was wrong.

I'm not upset, because I got a killer interest rate in the historical grand scheme of things and because mortgage rates are more commonly tied to 10-year Treasury rates, but still... If only...

I'm guessing that the detrimental effect that coronavirus will have on the global economy cannot be overstated.

I'm more concerned right now about the possibility of having the rug pulled out from under me at my job, although I have been employed there for 24 years and am only six years away from my 30-year retirement.

We're all going to feel the burn as far as Blu-ray production/shipment delays, I'm sure. The companies that make the cases, the artwork, and such will be affected, and supply chains will be disrupted for a while. Think about how World War II was really won on the Texas oil fields. It's all about the supply chain.

And banks have raised mortgage rates at least a point over the past couple of weeks.

I hear ya, my mom is 70. She just had hip pinning surgery a month ago. So she's still recovering from that, and has chest congestion issues. She hates sitting still and wants to be on the move.

She has 2 doctor appointments coming up in the next 1-2 weeks. I don't even want her going to those... Even tho there's no known cases in my city yet, you never know..
