No, not silly at all. Except for a few, I see a bunch of people throw around terms they know nothing about, clearly.

No. Roughly doesn't cut it.

"The benefits of ####p starts to become noticeable" is *vague*.

Done, done and done Penton.
Is it save to asume that all releases of Philadelphia have the same transfer including the TT release in the US?

Keeping in mind any possible HD encoding variation given that TT contracts its work out (are they still using IK in Burbank ( http://www.one-k.com/ ) to author their discs?)…yes, the master also supplied them should be originally derived from a 4K transfer of the Philadelphia film source <- which applies to all regional releases.

And perhaps 5 things you didn’t know about Charles Bronson http://mentalfloss.com/article/22023...harles-bronson
Including his sensitive side

I see Disney is in the giveaway news today…. https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=11348

I’ll try to think of an upcoming live action Disney Blu-ray title with a 4K transfer.

I was hoping that I could nominate 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1954) because of its pedigree (4K scan of the original Cinemascope negative and YCM masters), but since David Fincher’s remake of the movie has been pushed back, it appears that the Blu-ray edition of the 1954 classic will thusly likwise be delayed and the 4K master will continue to languish on some LTO data tape in the Disney vault.

I liked that old classic, along with others…Swiss Family Robinson, etc.

When now re-reading that first link (i.e. ‘Five things you didn’t know”), well, ‘Thing #2’ just reminded me of a Clint Eastwood film (western) which I know for a fact received a 4K transfer, but for life of me I’m blocking the title from my mind right now and just can’t remember it . I’ll check my records.

In the meantime, I’ll leave you with one 4K transfer to add. Be forewarned though, as I doubt anyone here would nominate this particular Blu-ray movie as a poster child for your long and distinguished 4K list, but alas…it is what it is (begotten from 4K data files).

As my relatives in Chicago would say “da Birds”…. https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-Birds-Blu-ray/16760/

Lightbulb Just some gap-filling...

Sony 4k harvests released via Twilight Time:
  • Fright Night
  • Bye-Bye Birdie
  • The Blue Lagoon
  • Nicholas and Alexandra
  • Major Dundee (both Theatrical and Extended)
  • Body Double

NOTE: most of the references to these 4k jobs were published on TT's FB wall many moons ago, so no way for me to link directly to those posts now, you'd have to check with the label. Also never confirmed, but strongly suspected: Mysterious Island, Bite the Bullet, Christine, and likely Night of the Living Dead '90 (which was being prepped by SPHE in 2010 for an Anniversary SE before the studio abandoned that project.

P.S. The reason TT gave for the delay with The Driver was they were waiting for the 4k work on it to be completed.

I like this background article…http://screenwritingfromiowa.wordpre...ss-in-seattle/
about the making of the film for two reasons:

1. It offers the perfect amount of detail for an enjoyable read and also acknowledges one of the greatest cinematographers of all time.

2. As the second Youtube clip at the very bottom of the article reveals perhaps for the first time to readers (and players) of a more recent generation…"Brooks never had a candy bar named after him. In Baltimore, people named their children after him."…and for good reason.

I know that the current DCP of 20,000 was sourced from the 4K scan - it looked great on the big Cinemark XD screen - wish Disney wasn't dragging it heels on this release.
