When I set my Direct TV receiver to dolby digital this also happened (before I did this it did not). However when I listen to the radio (turner) only the fronts are highlighted, but sound comes out of all speakers. Is this right?
It depends a lot on what you are looking at on TV, not all channels are DD..so sometime you might have all the speaker highlighted on the receiver and sometime you might not.

Thanks for the quick replies. I wasn't sure about that. There was a high probability that I could have been doing something wrong!!!

Not fond of the ugly "amber"/puke orange LED lights they use, can't they give consumers more choices to change the colors? That Yammy with BLUE lights would look sick.

You're joking, right? Who cares about the lights?

Not sure if this has already been posted, as I didn't see it in searches, so sorry if it has.

Which setting is the best for keeping the best original sound for uncompressed audio: Natural, Front, or Flat? I only ask because one of those must be chosen using the auto calibration.

When you are doing the set up use Natural, when you are looking at a BD movie I would suggest Direct Enhance.

Okay, thanks for your quick response! For watching a BD movie I try to watch it only using Straight, as that is sending it to the speakers just as it was intended. Wouldn't Direct Enhance mix the sound, or is it more like DRC?

Which DSP setting do you guys think is best for music? I'm currently just using 7ch enhancer, but I'm sure with a bit of research I could find a better one. Moefiz, I re-set it up using Natural and it sounds perfect for movies.

I used the scene button...I think its 4 for Disc listening and 3 for radio...can't go wrong with these settings.

The scene buttons are used for preset inputs. I'm asking about the DSP options.

I want to buy this receiver...
I am looking at pricegrabber.com

http://electronics.pricegrabber.com/...oduct/sv=title

The lowest price is $345 from "dbuys.com"....

Does anyone know if this is a trusted site?

Not sure about this site but I can recommend J&R Electronics..call them up and ask them if they can match dbuys price..they are very reliable.

I have never used the DSP options...I find with the preset buttons that they reproduce a good sound field.

One does not need to be biased to realize that in general, Yamaha has superior sonic characteristics to Onkyo. Onkyo has more bells and whistles for the money. But if quality sound is what you're after, it's Yamaha despite what those guys over at www.highdefforum especially Loves2watch would have you believe.
