Yep it was me. It was almost finished and ready for release when the game/PS3 decided to trash it, and I haven't been able to access it since, hours of work down the toilet

I may try and rebuild it while I'm off over Christmas as I can remember pretty much everything I did.

hmm...I have a question. The blown up picture that cali posted says little big planetoid which is a level in the game (search for it if you haven't) where they feature an artist a month (or week) and give you free stickers they designed. Is it possible we could get at least the metal gear solid stickers (if not the costumes) off this level? I'm just wondering why Little Big Planetoid was mentioned at all.

This must be the most complex level design I've seen yet...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=13GOFa1C4e4

For those who don't know, it's based on Conway's Game of Life, which can be seen in action here:

Obviously the size of the board is scaled down a bit from the classic computer puzzle/game, but the machinery going on in the background is pretty amazing.

I don't even want to know how much time was spent on it. I'll just assume it was a lot of hours.

They found the BIG planet pack and then photoshopped their symbol in there..

It makes me wonder what I'm doing wrong that I easily fill up the thermometer. This seems way more complex than anything I've done, and can't imagine how he was able to fit that into the thermometer.

I can understand if you use lots of different objects, that the thermometer would fill up, but I think my Chaplin level was pretty simplistic, and didn't use too many different shapes and objects, yet it still quickly filled up the thermometer.

Actually, I was surprised back when you said you almost filled the themometer with your Chaplin level. My levels are much bigger (cover a larger area) it seemed, then your Chaplin level and mine often fill the themometer.

I noticed one thing. I pasted about 25 community objects (along with some "captured" objects) in an empty room. JUST 25! Almost filled the themometer.

Unfortunately, the game seems to hate it when you paste in your community or captured items. I really don't understand the restraints on the sharing and creating aspects of this game. I thought I would be able to keep anything I wanted - like a pack rat. Instead, after a little while you have to choose to delete items to get/keep others.

That, along with the themometer issues really take some life out of the game. My levels are always put out unfinished or not polished because I ran out of room. My third level has been nerve-wracking. I have to look for things to delete to keep adding other little things.

Anyway, thought I would point that out. If you paste anything, whether your own creation or a community won object - your themometer will jump up substantially.

What's strange is, if you paste in one, but then copy that item, it doesn't have a huge effect. Can be a bit maddening.

That's interesting, and somewhat what I expected. When making a level, I often save objects that I plan on using over and over, to make it easier (instead of making them over and over). In the Chaplin level, the sliding "Scene x" signs were saved into my objects, and I just loaded one up whenever I got to a point in the designing that I was ready to use one.

Same thing goes for the "star block" key things that drop down after you complete each scene, and some other random things.

I think I'm actually going to go back and re-work my level a bit. I figure I'll get rid of the "re-cap" part where the director shows you the 3 movies you've already done. I realized it was kind of pointless, and slows the game down (it takes a while to finally get to the 4th scene, and you end up not even really doing anything). I'll move the story explaining City Lights (the blind sackgirl picture things) to that part of the level, and then re-do the ending (I wasn't thrilled with how it came out, and have since wanted to go back and tweak it a little bit anyway).

I've also wanted to re-adjust the letters in "Scene 1", "Scene 2", etc., so that they are centered more on the screen when you get to them.

Actually, I think I'll go do that now.

Edit: After over an hour of tinkering around, I decided to leave the level as it is. I liked the idea of getting rid of that one repetitive part, but after the other changes weren't working out (or weren't making the level any better) I found it easiest to just quit, and revert back to my old copy of the level.

One thing I tried to do at the end was add a final sliding black screen that says THE END but the letters to do that aren't very good. The "T" and "H" letters are just solid black letters, so they wouldn't show up, unless I put them in front of a white background (like I did with the #'s for each scene). It also blocked the scoreboard, whereas I was hoping the scoreboard would still appear through it. That's not a huge problem, because I could've always punched out a hole, but oh well.

Does anyone know if there is a way to check the user levels that are really high in rating? I can only search by the words that describe the level.. Maybe im just not seeing it??

As far as I know, there's no way to search or sort by rating. It's a pretty crappy searching system, but hopefully they'll fix it in a patch down the road sometime (though I doubt they will).

Unrelated: I decided to go back and edit the Chaplin level afterall. I didn't take out the repetitive part (of the dissolving pictures) but changed how one of them works, so that it doesn't seem exactly the same. I also added a picture to the end, and give it away as a prize.

I was clickomg on the names of people who leave comments on my levels, to see some of their levels, and came across this one:

The Movies by Teenbonesy

It's probably easier to search for it by his creator name (Teebonesy).

It's in black and white (much like Chaplin), and involves trying to get your sackboy to the movie theater. Once there, you "watch" a movie, and the way the creator did that is pretty impressive. The "curtain" opens, and then you see a series of pictures quickly changing, to sort of create a "real" movie (the movie lasts for maybe 2-3 seconds, and repeats over and over).

That alone made it pretty cool to see, as its the first level I've seen where someone has tried to make a video within their level.

But what was possibly even better is that in between two of the movies, in one of the lobbies, there is a poster hanging up that is supposed to resemble a Charlie Chaplin movie. When you approach it, a dialogue bubble pops open and says "Chaplin by toefer" which I thought was a nice little mention.

Actually, I saw an explanation of making a rudimentary animation with LBP. Pretty clever.

Pretty cool - too bad it couldn't act like a hyper-link and allow you to jump into it and play. How cool would that be?!

Did you see this online somewhere? Do you have a link? If I ever make a sequel to the Chaplin level, I might try to add a brief animated part at the end.

Update 1.06 is out now.

Apparently aside from sneaking in the Christmas DLC (and any other DLC), it shows a new message if you try to publish a moderated level, and also lets you play/edit your moderated levels on your moon.
