Yes and no. The controls are pretty intuitive, and the tutorials do a good job of explaining how all the tools work, so in a sense it's fairly easy. On the other hand, despite what I just said, it takes a lot of time to make a good level. For that reason, you could consider it hard.

One of my favorite tools is the one that lets you copy and save anything you create. So if you spent a lot of time working on a car or monster or whatever, you basically draw a box around it, and can save it. You can do this with anything, including hills you make, or whatever else you want, which is nice, and saves some time when making levels.

Yes. You can actually switch very quickly between Create Mode and Play Mode (I think that's what they were called). Once published, you can still make changes, and simply republish it, overwriting the older version. I'm not positive, but it appeared that if you republished a level, all the previous stats were erased (the number of times it was played, the times it was hearted, the top scores, etc.)

Hard to say. It really comes down to what your idea is. Some of the boards that were most fun on the beta were very simple. I also saw some boards that weren't very fun, but looked like they took a long time to make.

For example, the levels that involve pulling a block, or riding on a vehicle, to trigger music playing...that was a cool concept at first, but it started to get dumb after a while. If I want to hear a song, I can go do that somewhere else. The novelty of that kind of wore off after the first few levels designed that way (I assume, but I'm not sure, that they were done by the same person).

Also, the piano level someone made looked pretty cool, but in terms of fun factor was kind of boring. You can hop up and down on piano keys....amazing.

So, it may not be easy to come up with the greatest ideas, but that's part of the fun...playing around with the level editor, and trying to come up with something people will enjoy playing.

Whats odd is that I can't recall seeing any commercials on tv for this release. Sure they are releasing plenty on the PSN store, but unless you are a gamer ethusiast or PS3 owner, you may not have even heard of this game. Unless of course you live in San Fransisco or where-ever that rented a store to show the game off.

The only one I've seen featured a trio of PS3 exclusives. It showcased MGS4, Gran Tourismo, and LBP.

In fewer words: Some levels are good as "tech demos", showing what is possible with the level editor. Other levels are meant to be played through for its enjoyment factor.

That's so not what I was suggesting. Hearting something relies on the idea that you find that particular level in the thousands that will be out there and doesn't differentiate between themed levels and non-themed. (Though it would be cool if in the release version you could search on keywords for the most hearted levels with that term.)

What I'm saying is that it would be cool to see community mini-events where they create a "God of War" tag, give people a chance to tag the appropriate levels and then have a period of time where you could quickly compare the themed levels side by side.

i agree... it's a shame really. everyone i've talked to about it. (even people that i know own a ps3) are like "what's little big planet??" i think sony needs to get on the ball and advertise a lot more. the other console is stealing all the multiplatform games as their releases with their logo at the end of the commercial EVEN THO ITS MULTI-PLATFORM!!! (i.e. madden, nba, gta4, mercs, SW:TFU, and i'm sure when it comes out FF13!; there's others as well) but seriously it seems like sony is not caring so much about the NA market at least. i'm sure they got plenty of comercials in the japan.

Yeah I really don't understand why Sony seemingly stands by and allows this to happen. I've been seeing the Rockband 2 commercial a lot lately and at the end it flashes the 360 logo, as to assume it's only avaliable on that console. To me, from a marketing standpoint it's like Sony just does not have any fight in them at all and that pisses me off. Where are they aggressively going after the consumer? It's like they have rolled their system out with the attitude of "ho hum, here's our console. If you want it, great. If you don't eh who cares."

Incidentally, I saw a LBP commercial a couple of nights ago but it was LATE. They need to bombard people with advertising for this game.

I haven't seen one commercial on t.v. for LBP. In fact, I don't see many PS3 commercials period. I see X-Box 360 commercials all the time.

This is Sony's game to lose - and they seem to be content with leaving the lightening in the bottle with this game. What a shame.

I saw a commercial last night on one of the HD channels (can't remeber which). Found it in progress so not sure how long it was but when I first started watching it I thought it might be a feature on a tv show and not a commercial. It was well made, emphasized PS3 exclusivity at the end.

I havent seen any commercials, just banners/posters at electronics/games stores. But its really hard to "get it" without seeing it in action. Maybe closer to release date Sony will swarm in with commercials. THey should.
