Then you find another one that is highly rated correctly, but it's something you just can't stand to begin with. I don't think it's worth my time to do something like this game, but I hope those that do it, enjoy it, and can keep up with creating great levels, and can easily find boards you enjoy playing!

**(SLIGHT) SPOILER WARNING**

Has anyone tried the survival level in World 7 (Great Magician) where you have to go round the obstacle course 2 times in a row and try not to fall in the fire pits or get burnt? I feel like I have a pretty good score there (26,693 - no lives lost - maybe I'll be in the Top 10 for a bit once the servers go up). Has anyone got higher?

World 8 now actually (I just like that survival level - along with a couple other timed ones) - I've just had the game since Friday, I haven't been playing non-stop!

It will sell just fine. Only us hardcore fans are so stressed about the 1 week delay. I dont feel the length is a huge issue. Casual gamers dont play long games, and hardcore gamers will have making new levels. Everyone will enjoy the replay value.

The real hype will only start once the community really takes off, and it will. Most people I know with ps3s are getting this. Some of them usually only play FPS, some only sports. But they;re all getting this, thats how strong the appeal is.

I doubt it lost "impulse buys". THat doesnt even make sense, since impulse buys are random by nature. Seriously, you guys are taking this way too seriously. The vast majority of people wont care about the delay, and you guys wont either once other people tell you how awesome it is.

I think it will sell pretty well but not great. I don't get why people care about the length issue really. The sweet spot for great non-RPGs is usually 8-14 hours. To be honest, if games linger beyond that point people start to lose interest and the narrative/progression doesn't hold up as well. That being said, LBP has tons of replay value, whether its trying to get 100% completion rates on regular levels or high scores on survival stages, I think I'll be playing the game for a long time (and I'm usually the guy who plays through a game once and never comes back to it - well at least to the single-player aspect)

I think the sales will be good but not amazing at first, but extemely steady, since this game's appeal grows as the community grows. Also lets face it its one of the few really kid-friendly games available for the PS3 right now, so I have no doubt holiday sales will be strong.

I agree that the game will see steadier sales than your average Rainbow Six Vegas 2. It does also hit a niche that many other PS3 games do not satisfy, so that to me is a wild card (is there a need for that niche among existing users?). Obviously, my big questions and concerns deal with the current (relatively) underdeveloped PS3 install base, its makeup and how both will impact LBP sales.

for those of you that were able to get LBP this week here in the US, did they keep the british narrator from the beta or does the narrator have an american accent?

i'm hoping they kept the british narrator...

I totally agree that it hits a niche that no other PS3 game has so far, good old fashioned platforming, but with friends. I cant think of a single other ps3 game like that. Me andmy friends are guy in mid 20s. They all either go for FPS or sports games mostly, but they're all getting LBP, because its something totally different, the gameplay looks hilarious, and we can play multplayer agaisnt each other. And since its platforming, it kinda levels the field for us.

The fact is its really like no other game ever made. I expect this game to make huge waves after release and be extremely highly recommended by christmas time. It hits that sweet spot between being great for kids, but being silly/crazy/nostalgic-yet-new enough for older gamers as well. Its basically perfect for that wii demographic everyone keeps raving about.

It reminds me of that one kirby game where you could have a buddy play as a absorbed bad guy to help you along and you kissed kirby to heal him.

I think you set it off by getting close/jumping back and then a bird on a chain drops down that you can swing across.

im 100% through the first two stages with and aced those as well, and on the 5th stage, and I must say this is a spectacular game so far (and I haven't even played online). i was in the beta and loved it, and the actual game is much better than the beta was. i was playing with a buddy the other night and we were practically falling out of our chairs laughing at some of the stuff that happens to our sack boys. this truly is a one of a kind experience, and if anyone doesn't at least rent this game they will be missing out on something revolutionary.

the only thing i forsee is that the campaign mode will be too short. there are only 7 stages (based off the trophies) with 40 some odd levels, but most of the levels are the side quests that take 5 mins tops to beat. don't get me wrong, so far everything ive played has been a blast, but once its all said and done this game is going to really have to rely on the online play. ive prolly only played for about 5 hours, and can easily see myself beating it in 10-12 and completing everything in 15 tops. if there is awesome online support though (which there should be) it won't matter.

I'm on the 8th world which I think is the last. The survival stages (although the name is misleading because only half are survival, the other half are basically time attacks) can take 5 min or you can spend hours on them trying to get the best score, that's the beauty of it. I spent an hour and a half on a World 7 survival stage last night trying to perfect it (actually, it took me about an hour just to get a "No Lives Lost" commendation on it). Plus, the levels do get somewhat longer and the survival levels get harder. Plus, I think for people with not a lot of time on their hands (undergrad/grad students [well, maybe not undergrad!], professionals) 10-12 hours is perfect for a story mode.

It kind of reminds me of Yoshi's Island for the SNES.

Also, I wanted to point out that while your friends are enlightened and can see the beauty of LBP, a majority of my friends (who like FPS/action/sports games) would not even touch it.

Sorry don't know how to spoiler tag... though I doubt this spoils anything...
Since no one answered this directly in a correct way:

[Show spoiler]Yes, you can get across without falling down and that is how you 'Ace' the level. I don't want to make it stupid easy for you; however, so all I will say is you have to stick a specific sticker in a specific place to activate a specific thing that will allow you to use a specific tactic to specifically swing in a specific way over said 'hole' and thus have a chance to 'Ace' the first level specifically.

I hope that works.
