I disagree. Not to say it's perfect but if anything, it's underrated (imo). I can't understand why they aren't running lots of commercials for this game. Maybe they have some and I just haven't seen them but with other more traditional games, it's hard to miss the commercials and this game deserves such treatment. It's brilliant and it's not really even "my type" of game. Anyway, the graphics and DoF effects look great, it's incredibly creative and the character is actually pretty fun to manipulate. I couldn't figure out why my guy was looking up the whole time during one level and then discovered the motion control stuff would make him look up, down, side to side, etc. Heck, you can almost make the thing dance. So basically, run a bunch of commercials showing the various levels and especially some of the levels people are making. If I didn't know about it already, I'm sure that would hook me. Tonight I've mostly been playing the user created musical levels and it's pretty impressive the various ways they create it.

Are you having online issues with it? I had issues the first couple of days but tonight it has been really nice and fast. No lag and everything has loaded really quickly.

Thanks toefer for the confirmation. Something tells me lots of people would be using LBP to make miniplays and music videos.

On the main PS3 menu, go to the Settings tab, and then go to Accessory Settings (its toward the bottom, I think). Click on that, and go to Audio Device Settings, and make sure the USB camera is showing up as the audio device.

There will be a meter here showing the sensitivity of the microphone, so you can go ahead and talk to it, and see how well its registering, to decide whether to turn the sensitivity up or down.

If that all works, then your microphone should be fine, and good to go.

If you are not hearing anything, it's simply because nobody is talking to you. You'll notice with a lot of games that people tend to not use the microphones, but it doesn't hurt to talk to them anyway, in case they do have one, and they might respond back.

it might turn off when you set it down, if you dont see it flashing green (indicating it is on) then turn it on while in charge mode WHILE it is hooked up into the dock. thats what i did the other day and i was chatting just fine in lbp.

I am PISSED. I spent 4 hours making a level and it was going awesomely. I dunno what is going on with the back-most layer, but now everytime i click start, my entire level disappears and everything inside falls to the floor.

This game lost cool points.

I wish there was a way to save at points along the way (um duh). Therefore you'd have saves like mylevel0.1, mylevel0.2, etc.

Then you could go back at any point and tackle issues (provided that you're saving often).

I'd also like to see more text tools and perhaps some tools like Photoshop. Not saying I could use them, but it'd be nice.

That said, I spent 2.5 hours today to make a level that's 5 seconds of suckage. Evidently I'm missing a creation manual, because I'm seeing lots of nice stuff out there.

Just got it today and love it. Already got a bunch of Trophies and just got to the wedding levels. I played the beta for a single day so i had a taste of it, but the pre-made levels are just amazingly well done. I also love the online levels people have made. Some serious talent. If anyone wants to go through the games levels online, add me on the PSN, name is: blitz6speed

p.s. - i use the PSEye for a mic and it works great.

p.s. 2 - i watched indy 4 tonight instead of playing more LBP and what a waste of time, i wish i played LBP more.

Have you gone through all the tutorials? Just keep selecting the question mark again and again.

Also, I'd highly recommend going through many of the Story Mode levels first. You get a lot of tools and items to work with. And, as you go through those tutorials, you often get more items to work with.

So, as I was planning... it's best to do ALL tutorials, then beat the game BEFORE you try to create a level?

Hi sorry for the dumb questions but this game seems popular and the thread is too big. But

1) what is this game about, are the "levels" problem solving tasks?
2) is this mostly an on-line game?
3) there are threads on level creation and sharing, are the levels played on-line or can they be saved? are levels worth replaying or is it a one time thing (if it is simple problem solving and you know where X,Y and Z are situated and how to use them then maybe not worth playing it again)

1) It's old school platformer (kind-of) like old mario.
2) not yet. There are a lot of levels in story mode. But users can create levels so there's a lot that WILL be on-line.
3) I don't think they can be saved... maybe in the future. And it's a platformer. Get to the end of the level without dying. Not a puzzle game really.

It's up to you - but you'll get many items (stickers, tools, objects including badguys to use) as you go through the levels. This could save you lots of time creating things your self. Lots of cool gadgets are provided to you as you beat levels.

Again, with the tutorials, it may save you time trying to figure out how to do something or wondering if something can be done if you just go through all the tutorials first. Also, after most tutorials you get several new prizes and often new tools. Plus, once you complete all the tutorials (all areas in the questions mark and selecting all objects with the green marking on it) - you get a trophy.

Jumping, running, swinging, dodging, problem solving - basic platforming with some great scenery.

Quote:

It's like many games nowadays. You play the "Story" mode and then you can go online and play "User Created" levels. Don't be fooled - some of these levels are quite amazing.

Yes, "User Created" levels are all online. You can not "save" them to your hard-drive to play offline; however, you can Heart a level and quickly find all your Hearted levels to go back to easily (so you can play those with friends either offline or online). You can join friends online and play or play offline with buddies/family.

Most are not worth replaying imho. Some are cool to save to play/show buddies later. However, that's the brilliance behind this game. With everyone creating and sharing - there is/will be little need to "replay" since there will be new levels being made all the time. As I said, some of these levels are quite complicated.

If you don't like platformers - do not get this game.
