I didn't skip any so I can't confirm, but when I looked on the lower left corner of an object was a red box with a ? if there was a tutorial to complete.

Gets more confusing if you have a second player pop in and they didn't have the items, because then they reappear in the bubbles!

Except if you play online with them. When I play, the items only appear as items if the person I'm playing with SPLIT SCREEN doesn't have them.
I'm glad they do that though, it's much easier to help someone get all the items when you can see the ones they don't have. Sucks when I try to help online and I can't tell.

I must say that I feel a little let down by the LBP final product. With the servers being down as frequently as they are, the constant issues I have joining online games, and now the themed UCC being taken down, it just hasn't reached the expectation that I've had for it unfortunately.
It seems kinda strange to me that the themed levels that saturated the Beta was almost encouraged by MM and Sony. Now it's a no-no. I don't know. If this game was the same play experience that we had during the Beta I think I'd be enjoying a lot more. I'm still going to give it time though, I'm not throwing in the towel just yet.

I still see all the batman and pacman and whatever levels up on my 'cool levels' each day. So, not sure what/how/who moderation is affecting or why.

The server issues could probably be resolved rather quickly if they fixed the broken system they have for placement on the 'cool levels' pages. Frankly, the fact that you must re-publish your level every 5-10 minutes to ensure it's early page presence if you want any people to play it at all probably puts a tremendous strain on the servers when you consider how many thousands are constantly re-publishing over and over just to get their trophies. The whole 'cool levels' placement thing is probably the single most broken thing in the game, to be honest, and it's affects are strewn across everything most likely causing most of the lag we see, the server outages and the 'failed to make game' messages, etc.

One of my few, yet big complaints is the "search" function. I should be able to type in a user's created level with the title - yet, this rarely yields results even close to what I'm looking for.

I hope MM is working this issue.

I'm also not a fan of the cool levels idea. I read someone talking about having it split up into 3 sections, most played levels, highest rated levels, and newly published levels.
That would help sift through a lot of stuff, and give new levels a chance to become popular as well. As it stands right now, it's almost always the same levels on the front page day in and day out.
I think they shoudl refine the search mechanism too. More options to help cut down all the other crap you get when you search for anything.

Since the "Cool Levels" are kinda fubar right now, here's a resource for finding cool levels:

Just wanted to say your level is solid but honestly its frustratingly long. Every time I thought "Oh its over cool I made it...", it was something else lol. And the ice section and race section are very frustrating as well.

I'd wager that MM is trying to stradle the fine line between a homage and overstepping an IP. (Hard position to be in, I'm sure).

The batman level mentioned had images of the Batman:TAS cartoon from what I heard - obviously a no-no. Levels that almost perfectly duplicate a Super Mario Bros. level will probably get the axe too.

But levels that parody or mimic a particular IP without coming too close or drawing specific images from it will probably be safe. I'm sure that it will be possible to keep building theme levels as long as they aren't blatant rip-offs.

So, i have a few questions about these "cool levels". Are these the Community levels that other players create? is this where my created level should be, because when i search for it or look over all the pages, i never see my published level. can anyone answer this for me? Thanks

Haha, I hear that a lot - "The level is really long, and the "funhouse/ice section and race got me frustrated!" (Although, I created many checkpoints so you wouldn't have to start over many times from very far back.)

I do think it is funny that most people find it quite long (I'd say it takes about 8 minutes to get through) - when a common complaint is that the user created levels are too short. I will say, though - I filled up almost the entire room with almost 100% on the themometer and almost every section is being used (not many massive walls taking up the room).

I plan to have a theme for my next level. "The Garden at Midnight" was a bit abstract.

Sorry about not being able to join you last night. I think the lag and slowdown was on my end. I went into the creation part and was still having some strange slow down. Very strange. But everytime I joined you guys I could hardly see what we were doing because of the lag. Hope my issues are resolved by a simple reboot.

Thanks for the feedback on my level.

Alright guys, I published my first level just now. Go check it out and let me know what you think. It was on page 6 at the top of the globe on the tip of the white land. It's called "The Dark Sack"

Edit: I guess the page your level is on changes constantly. It's on pg. 25 now.

How are you searching for it?

Are you going to the Planet on the left and selecting 'Me' then 'My Levels'?

I did that for my level too - I couldn't find it - probably one page 1,000 where no one will ever find it.

I have had 11 people play my level - 6 of my friends played it and hearted it, and I got a few more hearts from people I don't know.

They need to fix the search engine so I can find people's levels on this board and play them. (I can't add every single person in this forum on my friends list just to play their level, but there seems to almost no other way to find their levels half the time.) Luckily, a lot of people from this site/thread are have been on my friends list for some time.

I hope MM fixes their search engine.

I found the best way to search for your own level is to type in some of the words that are in the description of the level.

Also, for whoever posted it above (pelican, I believe)...you won't always be able to find your level by browsing through the pages of 'cool levels'. I forgot how many pages there are, but its certainly not nearly enough to show every level created by everyone. How a level makes it onto these pages isn't completely known. Some have 0 or 1 play, so they're obviously too new to be deemed cool, but it seems that once you publish a level, it gets a brief appearance somewhere on some page, and will eventually be replaced by levels published more recently. Ones with very high playcounts stick around, and work their way up to the first page. But even on the first page there are a handful of levels that seem out of place.
