I appreciate these guys for giving out the free stuff along with the paid items. Earns cool points from me and makes me more likely to give them a couple of bucks once in a while for the other stuff. (Although, no items have been to my tastes yet).

I like the little holiday themed ones - kind of like having little collectibles.

why not? if they are taking the time and effort into developing add on material for this, why shouldn't they charge us? im actually very surprised they are continuously releasing free add on material. obviously the stuff you pay for is "cooler" but still. if they keep this up that would be unprecedented.

I'm not opposed to it either; however, I do think it is a) overpriced and b) lacking enough 'real' value.

Let me explain.

I feel that for $1.99 I should not only get a Chimera, but a couple/few R2 related objects I can use for level design as well as some R2 related stickers (even if only Chimera related at this time). I would have loved some Motorstorm related objects!

$1.99 is a bit steep for one simple costume each week. In fact, it's VERY steep for it. I'd personally rather pay $5 for a bundle of say, a dozen 'themed' premium costumes or something (if the sticker/object thing isn't happening). I prefer bundles, I guess.

I can see the issues with objects/stickers going out as not everyone would purchase and the ability to exchange objects could cause issues; however, there is still the ability to lock objects as non-exchangeable and other players do not need an object/sticker to see/play it in a level created by another user.

It seems the content if very overpriced for what you get, in my opinion. I think they are pushing it with the nickel and dime'g for one little costume at a time.

I gotta agree with Proteus. I'll be honest, I may buy the Chimera one, but the pricing seems a bit excessive.

I understand that they probably have to pay a fee to the motorstorm/R2 developers, but at 1.99 a pop 30 costumes is the same cost as the whole freaking game! The game itself had dozens of costume pieces in addition to all the other content.

I know that a smaller population will actually buy these, but considering that each is just a few rendered items and they are being distributed digitally, they are probably making a killing on these.

I'm willing to live with the prices, but it would be nice if they slowed things down a little - a piece of purchasable content every single week so far (except the first) seems a little too aggresive. I'd also like to see them spend some time on stuff other than just costume pieces - stickers, and items for level creation would be nice.

I'd be willing to drop $5 for a pack that had a few resistance themed stickers and (more importantly) some creation items that could help me build levels with a warzone/alien invasion-ish feel.

I'm obviously paying the $1.99 also; however, I do not feel 'good' about it. In fact, I feel like I'm being ripped off every time. That is not how your customer should feel after purchasing your product. I buy them because I'm desperately seeking something new for the game, not because of pure vanity alone. Anything at this point to add any new tidbit of flare to playing is needed... So, I buy them. Problem is it's only getting me five minutes of 'flare' and it's over... fire's out. Then I really feel like a tool for spending the cash.

I really would have loved to see 'Motorstorm LBP bundle' and there were some stickers, some objects, a couple costume variations and a super cool Motorstorm level all for $5-8. THAT would have been awesome. Same if it was R2 or whatever IP they are using. So far the GoW pack from Gamestop is the only real premium pack that gave quite a bit of stuff (stickers and three costumes with lots of parts)... How come they aren't at least doing that? Seriously... it's weak and makes me feel dirty for spending $1.99.

I can think of a lot of other things I'd rather feel dirty about...

wow, i never thought id hear that $2 was too steep of a price for something.

and you all are acting like they are forcing you to buy this. if you don't want to pay $2 for the chimera suit, then don't do it. you don't HAVE to buy every single costume they release each week. if you know that you are going to regret buying it before its even released, then why in the world are you going to buy it? that just makes absolutely no sense at all.

yes if they release a $2 costume every week and you buy them all it would be expensive. thats why you only buy the ones you like. its called budgeting, they taught it to us in 10th grade, maybe even earlier. personally i don't like the look of the chimera costume, so im not buying it. i bought the motorstorm costume though, mostly because i can use it to make a darth vader costume

ive said this before, and ill say it again. if you really think that $2 is going to break your wallet, pick up every piece of loose change you find on the ground. if you are vigilant enough, you will find $2 in no time. a buddy of mine could find $10 a month pretty steadily. again, we are talking about two freaking dollars!

That's not a great attitude to have. If you become immune to minor purchases because they seem insignificant, you might slowly go broke. Obviously if you set up a budget like you mentioned, you'll be fine.

And just because you can find $2 in change on the ground doesn't make something worth purchasing. One thing has nothing to do with the other. One is finding money. One is having money (regardless of where you got it) and deciding if it's worth exchanging for something.

I'll jump in the boat that says this stuff is too expensive. But none of it really interests me, so it's not really an issue to me. I do feel a bit slighted because I was under the impression that you could make your own costumes, when instead all you can do is put stickers on the stuff you have in the game, to change the colors...or buy new costumes to change the colors of.

A Rock Band song, I'd argue, takes a much greater amount of work to make. They have to do the drum/guitar/vocal tracks on 4 difficulties, and then sync up the animations to the song. Plus there are the licensing fees involved in paying the artists, and paying Sony/Microsoft. But at least you're getting a great value. You get a song that, even if you only play it once, entertains you for 4 minutes, and it's directly related to the playing of the game. With the LBP costumes, you get a minor aesthetic adjustment to the game, and if you care enough about costumes in the first place, you probably change your costume around quite often.

99 cents seems like a much better price, and they should stick to that regardless of whether it's licensed (MotorStorm) or not (the animal packs). Why? Because the licensed costumes are providing publicity for whatever games they are licensing, so the games shouldn't really be asking for too much in licensing fees. On top of that, because they are recognizable characters, they're probably going to sell more. Let's face it, the Solid Snake costume is going to sell a lot more than the Shark-on-the-head costume. So even if they are taking a smaller cut of the 99 cents for the licensed costumes (because they have to pay the licensing fees to Konami, or whoever) they're still going to end up making a boatload of money for something that cost very little (money- and time-wise) to make.

There's nothing wrong with disliking a price. We know we don't have to buy it, but that doesn't mean we lose any right to voice our displeasure.

why? is this not the same as picking up an extra shift so you can buy a new pair of jeans (or anything else)? the point i was making is that you aren't immune to minor purchases; you want something that doesn't cost much so you do something that doesn't take much time to pay for it. its simple economics.

i completely agree. what i was saying is that if you wanted it but you realize that $2 every week could get pricey over the long term, you could do something like pick up stray change to pay for it. the point is that since it doesn't cost much it doesn't take much to generate funds for the cost.

thats a fine argument to make. really when they release these costumes they make prices they think consumers will feel is "proper." if they are wrong, consumers won't buy, causing the price to drop. but that won't happen because the developers realized that there isn't much of a difference to people whether or not they are charging 50 cents, 99 cents, or $1.99 people will buy the costumes if they like it because it is a relatively inexpensive purchase. and sure, id rather see all costume prices be $.99, because it would save money. but i do notice that there is a difference in quality between the $.99 costumes and the $1.99 costumes besides the tie to PS3 games. so i understand why there is a difference in price: the more attractive costume should cost more. if they dropped the Motorstorm and Chimera costumes to $.99, there's a good argument that if they kept the other costumes at the same price they would be over-charging for those.

who knows how things will play out. this is only the 2nd download they have released. in the future it may be things like stickers or items. but i just feel that two dollars isn't a lot for almost anything, especially if it something you want.

I haven't unlocked everything yet, but I think I have all the costume bits, and don't think that's one of them. I could be wrong though.

Woohoo!

I completely eliminated any and all lag from my Winter Wonderland level.

I've got all the snow emitters connected to proximity triggers (with massive proximities) - so that they only are shooting off when the player is in that area of the level. I connected every single one - completely took away the lag. The level has been republished.

The level looks MUCH cleaner - even the snowfall "floats" a bit more. It's really nice to see/play my level the way I intended it to be. Whew!

I'm going to spend some time playing the levels you guys have made - then, I'm going to finally get started on - "Winter Wonderland - Part II, (The Northern Lights)".

As usual, I have lots of ideas for it that I have no idea how to accomplish and have yet again given myself something that is just way too big.
