this is what i have come to believe distinguishes a great level from a good level, and gets a lot of people to play/heart your level:

1. it can't be too hard--pretty much beatable for most people without having to restard
2. it has to be creative--people are sick of doing the same things over and over in each level.
3. it has to be pretty--in the best levels the publishers took time for aesthetics, for music, for anything that separates it's levels from the rest.

now, i haven't been able to create a level like this, because thats a tall order. but for the people who have created levels with these aspects to them, its very noticeable and the level of enjoyment from those levels approaches the story levels (if not exceeds in some occasions.)
Look at that guy geosaurus's levels - he has a garden one that is a good example. He has some harder to get prize bubbles, but the level overall is completable.

You're right - frustrating is the key. If the level is too hard and repetative, it just isn't fun. The trick in a lot of cases is threading that fine line between an interesting challenge and just making things hard to make them hard.

His garden has some harder parts to get the prizes, but they don't grind the level to a halt.

Interestingly the Ninja Warrior level is hard to complete, but since it's an obstacle course, that seems to work for it.

Just played a little multiplayer recently and the first attempt went badly. Very, very laggy on my end making it unplayable. A few days later I got invited to join 3 others and that went really well. No lag and it was hilarious seeing everyone jumping all over the place. They were really good at controlling the characters and a couple of them would fight at times back-handing each other off the platforms and stuff. It was funny. One guy was dragging me to the button I was supposed to stand on at one point.

Anyway, surprisingly, it was really hard. I wasn't use to having other players jumping all around me and I couldn't stop myself from jumping when they did. So, frequently I was jumping without knowing what I was doing or where I was going. I died a lot and even lost track of my player a few times thinking I was doing something but it was another player. I rarely pay attention to my character and just look at the level or what I'm trying to do since I don't usually have to think about keeping track of myself. Anyway, I thought it would be easier following behind and seeing how to do things but that wasn't the case for me. I think the other 3 being much faster at it made it more difficult as well.

It's definitely harder - having 4 people on tiny platforms jumping all at the same time can be hard to see at times.

I died A LOT more than I used to as a single player.

Also, it can put a lot of pressure on you when everyone keeps dying cause it's hard to do together - and suddenly, you are the only one who spawns and it's up to you to get to the next checkpoint to revive everyone and keep the game going. . . . Why me?! Haha!

Is sackbook down?

I tried looking at it last night, and again just now, and it doesn't seem to be loading.

Hopefully it's just a server issue, and not a Sony issue.

LBP servers have been down all night for me. I'm assuming the info from sackbook comes from the LBP servers and that is the cause.

Guess you didn't hear? It's definitely a sony issue. They asked the owner to take it down so they could check to see if he was gathering information safely, etc. It says it on the main page.

That sounds like a wise precaution. Identity theft seems to be getting more and more common these days and I'm sure Sony don't want to be implicated in the stealing of personal data.

Heh, if nothing else I may have to buy the SF character pack just to get some male hair options. I haven't collected near everything, so I may be missing a lot, but I currently have only one maile hair - the 'fro.

The Ryu and Guile hair will be a nice addition.

But these are PREMIUM costumes!

I'll wait for a sale - if at all.

Cool for the fans I suppose, but these prices are a bit much for new hair doo and threads.

This is a sale, your getting $2 off ( i.e. one free) if you buy in a group. Like the animal pack. And I'm afraid that's going to be the lowest they'll get. You snooze, you lose. Your choice.

Same here.

I think these are easily the best costumes released so far, but with how little I care about what my sackboy looks like, and liking the idea of having a custom look rather than one thousands of other people can easily/will have, I don't see the point in paying for something I'd only use for 2 seconds to laugh at, and then switch back to my own costume.

The only reason I could see myself buying them is for having more parts to use in making custom costumes, but for that purpose, only Ryu and Chun Li seem worth getting (unless the hairy nipples are a costume part).

I think they should start releasing additional level editing tools.
