I can't link from work (I believe it was at littlebigplanet.com)

Anyway, the guy basically claimed that it was the first (abeit, rudimentary) animation in a LBP level.

He had sackboy drop onto a lift that closed around the player, preventing movement, in a almost pitch black level . The player was dropped - as the player free-falled, lights shot off revealing the picture briefly. By ensuring the lights and images were revealed at about 2 frames per second for the human eye to see as animation - he created an eye blinking and then getting closer and (I think) growing evil?

It was very clever, however, not that effective. Still, it is pretty amazing what people are doing with these tools.

I've said before, what's really quite amazing is that everyone has been given the same set of crayons and paper, yet you get wildly different paintings from some folks - some bordering on genius or madness (like the calculator level or that level you mentioned earlier.)

Me, I hope that my levels are at least something just slightly different to make them stand out. I think my third level will have something that hasn't been done yet (that I've seen). Don't know if people will like it, but at least they can't say, "Oh, this again."

I'm going to work super, super hard to finish my third level this weekend. I have finished the 3rd level, but in true CYMBOL fashion, I ran out of room and am making a seperate Boss Battle. And now THAT level is growing! (I'm like an addict that can't stop at just a little.) Anyway, I plan to work real hard and stay up late to get it done this weekend!

Wonder if it will let me access my level that got trashed. I don't want to try it because I have a feeling I'll still be disappointed and am still going to have to rebuild it from scratch.

Not sure, didn't check.

The notification message will remain in place on screen, removing the chance that affected users miss the message

Any moderated level can now be accessed for editing by the creator, whether online or offline

Additional information is now displayed on the “Good Grief” screen advising users on how the grief reporting functions, and warns against making spurious reports

An explanation of what constitutes unacceptable content to be shared can be found in the game’s End User License Agreement (EULA) which may be read at any time via the Settings menu in the game, however we recommend you follow these general guidelines :

- Ensure that the content you share with other users is suitable for all ages - everybody has access to your level if you publish it.

- Please respect other people’s intellectual property rights. For example, don’t use images, brands or logos that you’re not entitled to use.

- If you come across any content that you feel the need to report, then please do it responsibly. Hoax reports will be considered inappropriate behaviour.

This update also includes some more server-side changes to the game however these are minor. There are more game updates due in the near future.

I wonder if there's any punishment for griefing the "Good Grief" system?

I still don't know what that means - if I parody something, is that a violation? If I make a level about a movie - but only use images I've created with the tools (ie, no copied images from the movie, etc) - is that wrong?

Very confused.

What's even more confusing is when they removed levels (like the Batman level), than brought them back).

My level after my Winter Wonderland series is about movies. I don't want to waste hours of my life just to have them delete it - but they have yet to really clarify this, other than to issue the same exact statement again and again.

The stupid message to me says, your level has been moderated. Something in it is moderated, and needs to be changed. WTF is it. Everything is my own intellectual property besides what was given to me by the game.. BOO

I would assume that you could get away with parodies because that would fall under fair-use as social commentary/criticism.

But then again Mm can make their own rules, so who really knows. I think the obvious reason Mm chose not to allow images to be uploaded from the HDD was to prevent images/logos etc from easily being added into the game, so I'm sure they have some concern over that.

I wish they could release a clear statement along the lines of "Parodies are ok, but this is specifically what you can't do...this is where we draw the line...etc"

Mine says the same but there's bugger all in the level. If it doesn't say what's wrong with the level how are you supposed to know what it is?

My Pinball didn't come back Just gave in and deleted it, it was just sat there tempting me, so I said my goodbyes, shed a little tear and pressed delete.

Anybody downloaded the Christmas goodies DLC? Anything in it worth downloading for the £2.39 it's going to cost me?

Well, it appears the MGS pack is coming next week (it's not on Euro store- not a good sign) not this week. And it will probably cost AT LEAST $6 IF NOT more (judging by the SF2 pack pricing, the additional stickers, and the "game changer" that comes with it). So take that into consideration. Will you still buy it for almost 1/5 of the game's price?

Anyway, it doesn't effect me, as I've already got a trade worked out where I will buy this Christmas pack for me and a friend if he will buy the MGS pack for us (I also got the SF2 pack from him as a Christmas gift...so I got it for free and didnt have to trade anything). I suggest any of you that want this try to do the same with someone else...dlc pricing is getting ridiculous.

Anyway, I'm awaiting the backlash of this "game changer". Now MM has another week to build up hype and I think we'll be disappointed. What in MGS could be "game changing". Many (and I believe this is it) say it will be MGS music for our levels and while thats GREAT it not "game changing" or something that I want for 6 plus bucks (how much you think it'll cost? I dont see it being anywhere under $6).

What do you think it'll be? You think it'll be worth it?

Not saying this is what it will be, but I think being able to assign different sackboy physics based on certain costume pieces could be a "game changer".

Right now, other than looks, costumes have no impact - but if designers could encourage players to dress in theme by rewarding them - that would be big (in my opinion of course).

So for example, imagine if CYMBOL could let your sackboy have better traction on glass if you were dressed as the penguin or higher jumping if you were dressed as Santa in his Winter Wonderland level?

I doubt it will be that - maybe it will give new tools or ways to interact with the environment like stealth sackboys?

I hadn't realized the MGS stuff was supposed to have a "game changer" in it - and I'd be surprised if they added something non-MSG related that every developer would feel obligated to download - I expect that kind of stuff will be focused in packs similar to the holiday one.

A "game changer" would be somekind of "invisibility/camo" feature that you could use (when provided) in a level so bad guys don't see you. Help to build stealth levels etc.

I wouldn't mind some music - but only if it is something with sliders so one piece of music can have multiple sounds.

I'm not interested in the MGS4 pack, but, we'll see.

Yeah, they already said they don't feel things like fire balls, etc. fit into the LBP universe (although you can make tanks, etc. yourself. ) But the features you mentioned would be great options. I really with they would add features you can provide in your levels - fire balls (or something like it akin to shooting fire balls like Mario), invincibility, stealth or high jumping for a short periods of time - Really expand the platforming options in the game.

Here's a short YouTube video showing off all the different thing in the Holiday Level Kit, for anyone on the fence about buying it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tjCJjKh6W78

The 3d-ish stickers (the stocking, ornament, card, mistletoe, etc) are nice.

Heh...well I'm buying it so I get the MGS pack for free. But that video made me even more happy.

Anyway, about the "game changer this is current speculation from GAF:

I predict a top down camera. Its not that radical, but it opens up some different types of game mechanics. Also, maybe an expanded AI system. Metal Gear AI is pretty good.

Would that interest you guys?

Also they mention the patch cleared up most of the crude in the "coll levels" section. I just checked it out and the majority is actually "cool levels" I would be interested in playing so far (I only found one trophy level and that was on the second page). Good job, MM.

Agreed - the ability to change up the physics in limited ways would be a huge benefit. Not sure I'd ever want to see someone be able to bring a costume that changes their stats (so to speak) but I'd love it if the creators could intentionally allow it.

It will be interesting to see if their opinions on the fireballs thing change at some point. In general I think they need to be careful about allowing sackboy weapons, because it could change the dynamics a lot - but since we can already replicate a variety of weapon effects maybe eventually they will cave.

Not sure stealth will be a game changer now that I think about it - since the monsters aren't too smart to start with, "invisibility" really wouldn't have a huge application.

On the other hand, new hazzards or monster enhancements that are MGS-ish, could be a possibility.

Yeah, I would consider a top-down camera a game changer. To be honest, that would rock!

I'm not sure what a top-down camera really does though. Since you're limited to 3 planes, its not as though you have any more space to make things happen...you just look at it happening different.

Although, I guess it would be nice for longer levels, as a way to switch up camera angles.

If it's related to cameras though, I'd rather have the option to make a "video camera", where you set the range and angle it shoots from (similar to a regular camera) but can have it project the video on a wall or something. This wouldn't really be game changing either, but it'd be fun to use.

No more space, but different ways of using it. Also, some things that might look weird from the side, might make more sense from a top view. Kinda sort of an example is the chattering teeth - they wouldn't make a ton of sense if you saw them top down - now reverse the logic. there are probably some items that would make more sense from top down than from the side.

I imagine it could change sticker placement dynamics (on costumes and the world) also.

True. It could be an interesting change, but if this is what it is (and that's a big if) I hope it would also rotate the screen so that you are moving up/down, like a top-scrolling game.
