I've been having problems ALL weekend.

I would republish my level - it would say it was republished, even say it gave me a key, etc. - but the comments would still show "Last published 8 hours ago."

This game, for all the fun that can be had, can be one big freakin' headache to deal with. Almost everything has to do with the Creation part of the game (although they did/do have that glitch that won't let people save their MGS 100% done).

The "Share, Create, Played" stats STILL are not working - levels crash. . . . you know, I could go on and on. No, really, I could.

MM really needs to fix this stuff!

To protect myself from level crashes (again) - I am now publishing my levels locked - and hoping that copy is safe. It's sad I have to be so paranoid when working with this game.

Anyway, my "Puzzle Wheels" level is coming along well - about 1/3 of the way done. The problem is - I'm not sure when to end it.

How many Puzzle Wheels should I have?
How big/complicated do I make them?

There is such a fine line between difficult and frustrating. I try very hard to make the games balanced but I'm worried that after one Puzzle Wheel, someone will get to the next one, see it and think, "Holy cr@p! No way am I going to try that one!!!"

Hmmmm, what to do, what to do. . . . .?

I know, I'm with ya. I can't connect to certain players (you included). I mean, they had a beta and the game has been out since October. Surely the problems should be ironed out by now.

Yeah, I connected with people from all over the world - but there is one guy on my friends list that tried a few times on different days and it just wouldn't work. Just strange.

Played Chaplin and thought it was well done. I havent seen any of his movies, so i couldnt appreciate it, but i liked it. Ive spent most of my time working on my level TWICE, because it crahsed when i was almost done. but now that its out, im going to play around a while, and try out the rest of all the levles you peeps have made.

How bad did it crash - completely? Mine crashed and was totally lost - which sucked cause it was the first half of a 2 parter. I never went back to it cause it was Holiday themed and put me too far back.

Also, it would be helpful if you listed your LBP levels in your sig. Easier to find then going through pages of posts.

It was weird, i was 2/3 the way through and started editing. Then the game just broke. I would hit rewind, but nothing would happen. I should have figured it was broken, and restarted the ps3, but i just kept working and manually fixing things. Went to play made, hit save changes, and then got failed to load level. It was totally broke and i had no backups.

But, since i really liked the level and most of the time spent was in figuring out how to do the things i was trying to do, i remade what i had done in way less time. It sucked, but i really liked the level and the ideas in it.

I was quite pissed, but I learned my lesson. I copy the level everytime i start a new editing session. I have an idea for a new level, but i wont start making it for a while. Need to take a break and just play for a bit.

Yeah, I got the "failed to load" message also. (Was it after you bought the MGS pack? - another person I know got that after he bought the MGS pack, like me.)

Thing is, I keep having space issues - the game wants me to keep deleting things to save my progress during level creations. I've deleted almost everything I had - so, I deleted a copy of my level - then it crashed and I had no back up.

What I do now is publish my work in progress with a lock on it. That way, it's on the LBP servers - so, even if my entire game becomes corrupted and I had to delete everything and start over - my levels should still be safe.

It's just a hassle that I have to jump through so many hoops just to create in this game.

I noticed the same thing, but not just this weekend. That seems to happen fairly often. The comments will eventually catch up with themselves.

One time I published a level, or thought I did, but it wasn't reflected in the comments. So I tried again. Same problem. So I tried again, same problem.

Then I looked back at it a bit later, or so, and saw that it was republished "56" "57" and "58" minutes ago.

That is not what occurred. Maybe once it would show - but I definitely never got the updated messages - it kept showing "8 hours ago" - eventually it showed "3 hours ago" - but I had republished several times inbetween.

Don't know - after my level crashed - and the long white screens that sometimes appear now when exiting my levels, or extremely long rewind times- this game has me totally gun shy. I walk on eggshells when creating in this game now.

Out of the 40 people or so that I know who play this game - 4 have had level crashes. There are problems with this game that I wish MM would address.

I really like it, but I feel the glitches will make me put this game away a lot ealier than I would have.

Btw, are you working on any new levels toefer?

I kept having problems glueing my bad guys to the floor, accidently, then deleting them and having it delete a lot of my level... So I started building everything way in the air then moving it to hover right above the floor then "dropping" it so there was no accidental glueing...

That's odd. I guess I should feel lucky for having no major problems so far.

There have been a few times where I go to edit my level, and either once I hit Edit, or once I'm within the level and hit "Save" and then "Return to Pod" the screen goes white, and appears frozen. After about 30-40 seconds (maybe longer) it fixes itself.

As for making levels, I think I'm in the very early stages of thinking over some ideas. I've been talking with Teebonesy about using his movie-screen tools to make a sequel to Chaplin. The idea for that might be to add a key to the end of the first Chaplin level, to give you a bonus level featuring some very crude Chaplin animations.

I've also considered making a Wizard of Oz themed level, modeled in part after your Winter Wonderland series. The general idea is that sackboy is in search of something, and decides to go see the Wizard. So I'd probably make a level for each of the characters (Scarecrow, Tin Man, Cowardly Lion) where he meets them, and they help him get to the Wizard. So maybe a 4 or 5 part story (I'm thinking sackboy will replace the character of Dorothy, but have a different need other than going home).

I also kind of want to develop a level around the paint gun, but haven't really come up with much yet.

those LOOOOOONG white screens scare me. Then today my game froze and I couldn't even access my XMB. I had to remove and put the game back in... Which did a machine reset...

I hope my PS3 isn't crapping out. i'll be SOOO pissed.

If all other Blu-ray discs play normally than its not your PS3, but the game itself.

Yeah, with all the recent talk of 60gb PS3's crapping out, I've begun to worry about mine.

But as MarineMike mentioned, if it only seems to be happening with one game, it's likely just the game, not the PS3, which makes me feel a bit more relieved.

I hate when I unglue one thing and the ENTIRE LEVEL comes crashing down.

The latest update seemed to reduce that happening, but every now and then I run into it again.

Just last night I unglued one piece and EVERYTHING fell apart - I kept trying and finally after about the fifth time - it deleted and everything kept running as usual.

As I said, the glitches and space limitations will probably have me setting this game aside MUCH, MUCH sooner that I would have liked. But these issues are a bit maddening. I shouldn't have to work so hard just to play this game.

The Creation part of this game can be frustrating and trying as it is - add in some game ending glitches and it may drive many creators away.

I've witnessed the white screen bug quite often. But a way to cut them away is to press PS button on and off, In all case the white screen disappears immediately

I know, all the LBP glitches used to make me worry about my PS3 60 gig - now, I realize it's simply LBP. Which is the "bright side", I suppose.

The Oz levels sound great - and they sound like a LOT of work. The Winter series was turning out to be quite a bit of work - but that was partly because of me.

I turned Part II into a 2.0 and 2.5 - cause I just can't seem to stop creating in a game. I just keep adding till the themometer won't let me add any more.

So, I sort of did it to myself but at the same time you kind of become trapped into finishing a very large and ambitious project. I was up to the challenge - but I was in competition with myself as to how I was going to keep "topping" myself. After the Puzzle Wheel level and Boss Battle, I wasn't sure how to put much more creative skews on these levels - but then I had a "snow ball" (which become the "Power-Balls" in the Great Race) that Frosty made in the Boss Battle that never got published - which had given me a great idea for the Fire Pixie.

Basically, it was going to be a emitted "snow ball" that you had to travel in through fire before time ran out - etc. And you were going to have to find the rain stick and use it against the Fire Pixe (he had set the village on fire).

So, after a month's work lost - I used the Puzzle Wheels and Power-Balls and used those concepts for specific gameplay levels - instead of story based.

Sorry to be so long winded - the point is - it can become a VERY time consuming and draining process making a large story - because you feel pressure to "hurry" because you need to finish the story - and you may feel pressured by yourself to keep "making things better".

Seriously, I had no idea how I was going to accomplish the things I had in mind for the Enchanting Pixie and Jack Frost's Ice Castle - I was drained just thinking about starting those. (But again, I do that to myself.)
