The servers seemed a little whacky last night. I kept getting the Failed To Load Level message. I broke out Motorstorm: PR instead.

Cowardly Lion was always my favorite! Come on! The scarecrow was a bore, the tin man was a baby - but the Lion - now he was a character. He was the most "real" of any of them. If I had to hang out with any of them - it would be the Lion! Of course, that's only if Dorothy was too busy. . .

I guess my biggest concern is that I don't want to group all three (Sc,Tin,Lion) into a single level, but I'm not sure I can do enough to warrant having a separate level for each.

How did you go about fleshing out the Winter Wonderland level, leading up to the boss, without feeling like you were just delaying the story? I wouldn't want to create a bunch of obstacles that don't really fit into the Oz story, and seem out of place.
You definitely have a dilemma.

I didn't feel I was delaying the story, in fact, my issue became that I had TOO MUCH story. (Which I believe will be your issue as well.) My two unpublished levels dealt with the Dark Pixie taking away the Northern Lights from the North Pole. An elf explain that the 3 pixies came, Fire, Dark and Enchanting but the Dark remained - and he asked if you could return the Northern Lights.

The city was in darkness and in flames - as you went through the town, it became more electrified (to fall more in line with the Dark Pixie). Then, you met Rudolph who "flew" you up to the Dark Pixie's labyrinth. I wanted the Dark Pixie's lair to be memorable so I came up with this idea of a weird contraption (which ended up being a Puzzle Wheel). And, of course, in my obsessive nature, I kept making more - each harder than the next and had busted the themometer again.

So, I decided to provide a key at the end and have a Boss Battle (I couldn't believe I turned a Boss Battle into a whole level). Sooooo, started the Boss Battle - and I went overboard on that too. I wanted people to see the lights being hoarded - you had 3 different encounters with the Dark Pixie and had to chase him away with lights each time - then make your way to a HUGE factory - set three different switches to start a massive set of electricfied gears. This started a chain reaction with lights going off like crazy (close to a strobe light), with warning signals going off - then you make your way out and all the lights were falling from the sky (the lights falling at the end of The Great Race). And the Dark Pixie explodes - and the town rises from the ground lit up.

See - the problem was, the story got away from me and what was supposed simple Boss Battle turned into 2 themometer busting levels.

I would really think about what is essential to the story. Your problem will be that there are SO MANY iconic moments (the twister being only one of them).

Taking on the Wizard of Oz is a momumental task - you sure you want to take that on? You'll have no lack of people comparing what you do to the movie.

Btw, I have an idea for how to accomplish the twister. If you decide to do this - let me know and I'll tell you what I would do. If not, I might just keep the idea for my own. Too bad we can't create together, I'd love to collaborate on this with you.

Wow, i guess people are really lazy or dumb. I had 14 plays on my level, and only 1 person finished it. WTF? Its not that hard, at leat I though. Anyroom with a switch is it has a magic mouth telling you there is one, or how to activate it. Sigh.

I couldn't get on the LBP servers last night to try your level.

How can you tell how many have played it vs. how many finished it?

You can create together, I think one person would have to start the level and invite the other person, but you can definitely have more than one person in create mode. Don't know if you'd be able to share the level between you both though or would remain the property of the person that originally set it up.

Can I just "be in there" or can I "create" also? Kind of like being in your pod when you can't actually access your materials/tools.

As for getting credit - doesn't matter to me. I'm not a trophy hunter or anything - I like the hearts to know that at least people enjoyed what I created and my time wasn't completely wasted - but other than that - I'm fine with someone else's name on it or whatever. (Unless they take off and I complete almost the entire thing myself - then I might get a bit annoyed.)

2 players on THE SAME SYSTEM can create together. Other players can only join you in Play mode of an unpublished level, not Create mode. MM is supposedly working on an update to fix it, but no timeframe has been given so far.

All I did was turn on a second controller to get the trophy. (in create mode of course)

Yeah, I turned on my second controller on accident one time and got the trophy in a few seconds (some had said the other player needs to create 30% of the level - but I got the trophy almost immediately.)

When I tried it both were on the same system (both had poppit menus on screen). You should be able to do it online but if you're right that MM are still working on that part it's just another thing that wasn't finished before the game was released. Once it is working I still don't know how the ownership would work. Would both people have to be in the level at the same time to edit? If both had copies and both changed things individually then that would be 2 levels and wouldn't be shared any more. If one person 'owns' it then the second (or 3rd or 4th) person could only edit when the first person allows them. It does sound like a good idea but I don't know how well it will work in practice.

I think it's 2 people have to create a level with the thermometer at 30% total, not 30% each. All I did was create a level with lots of random things to take it to 30% which gave me one trophy, turned on another controller, saved again which gave me another trophy, then deleted the level.

I played my level again after i publishd it, there were only 2 scores on the scoreboard, mine and someone elses. The puzzles are really really easy, you just have to be a little patient. The entire level takes less than 5 minutes.

I found this out the hard way. One day I was just going through my list and found 4 people waiting for a response, lol. Apparently Friend Requests are no longer listed in your messages unless they include a message with the request. Now you have to scroll all the way down your Friends List to see the request.

No way. Scarecrow was always the best. Why exactly was the lion wearing a bow when they got their makeover in Oz?

Feel free to PM me about your tornado idea, so others don't steal it. I think this might end up being my next level (or set of levels), but I may also just be interested in leaving it to someone like you to do, so that it may turn out better.

Come on - who would you want to go to the bar with - the boring Scarecrow - or the funny Lion (albiet, minus the pretty bow. )

Not sure why it would be any better if I did it.

Nope, you don't get out that easy.

It is a huge undertaking though. After getting a glimpse of the scope of undertaking such a huge project in my Winter series, I'd be hesitant about taking on another Story series.

It's up to you - do it as your own series (which is hard, but still a lot of fun) - of course, there is another option. Get with a few other creators and each person take a level: as far as I know, nothing like that has been done on LBP before.

Personally, I would do it all myself if it were my project (which it is not) - but I'm very picky about things, so I could understand if you were reluctant to go with the group effort. But it could be a neat experiment.

So, here is the question - let's say you did go with the group idea - which part of the story would you take?

No need to be humble. Look at my Connect Four, and then look at any of your levels.

Also, I'd probably go to a bar with Dorothy.

That's certainly true. I probably would prefer doing it on my own, just to have control over how everything is done, and to keep some sort of consistency to the whole series.

But if I did break it down as sort of a collaboration with others, I have no idea which section I'd want to do the most. The twister/opening level would be fun, because I like the idea of messing around with a color-less level again. Or maybe doing the final level, because I would try to make that some sort of boss-fight with the Witch -- which I've never done before -- ad then doing something with the Wizard might be fun too.

Probably one giant Roller Skate, Onto La Isla Bonita, Then I don't want to go into What I'd Do for Erotica, Then a Giant Rotating Lucky Star, and then the Grand Finale is Gonna be Hard to Make... You Can Fight Madonna as She Humps a Boombox, and then you get to be Hung Up on something for the End.

That's not my Homage to Her Music, just to her Last Album. Not this new one... I can do that one later

You know how cool a Collaboration Story Would Be? If everybody takes their own View on each section... It'd be Awesome. Somebody could have a "regular" level, somebody could have a very Twisted View on Oz and Somebody Could Make the Lion into a Giant Beast, and Somebody Else could make Him a Tiny Wimp.

Somebody Could make Oz Futuristic with the Tin Man as a Giant Mech, or a Complicated Cyborg, and then the Next could be a Steampunk Inspired one, and the Last Could just be Old School Period where the Tin man is actually a Steam Boat...

I get Carried away... Anybody want to Collaborate on Alice in Wonderland?

Edit: Coincidence? Right after I typed this, Gwen Stefani's Music Video for "What you waiting for?" Came on, and it's exactly How I would make Alice in Wonderland.

Hey, I really like the Connect Four level - I thought it was very clever.

Like I said, I would be the same way. I think the twister opening sounds like the most fun to do as well.

I have a good idea for how to achieve that effect, as well as the house in the twister effect.

But that was the problem with my Winter series as well, half the time was spent testing things (snow, spring boards), making characters (Santa, reindeer, the different pixies), etc.

I can see you having a lot of lead in time. But really, it sounds like you've a really fun project.

I'm slowly plodding away at my Puzzle Wheels level. It is fairly complicated design process with lots of variables to consider.

One thing creating Puzzle Wheels has done for me - it has made a lot more comfortable working within the 3 depths. I was able to work much more quickly when creating The Great Race, and this new Puzzle Wheel level is a lot more intricate (in some areas) then my Puzzle Wheels that crashed.

One Puzzle Wheel has you leaving the Wheel while it's moving to hop into the wall flip a switch which opens and lights up other areas on/in the Puzzle Wheel. It can get quite chaotic keeping track of where, what and when things are supposed to be getting triggered (and stop the person from accidentily going somewhere they aren't supposed to.)

I'm not sure, but I think the Puzzle Wheels are a bigger brain teaser for me than for the eventual player.
