Hmmmm, I would think a story series would be better for a collaboration. Alice in Wonderland is just a series of abstract sequences that (imo) don't lend themselves well to creating an entire level out of - this one would probably be best as one entire level.

You could do it after your Madonna homage. (Have you started on the Madonna level?)

Is that for your "Geeting Trophies" level?

I made my level REALLY easy so people would finish it... But I guess that doesn't happen. HAHA. I barely get any finishes and I have 0 comments, 2 hearts, 1 rubbish, and 1 empty... But I did get a funny and a cute.

I agree... Do madonna then do Alice... Single levels.

I'd like to make a few story line based levels.

Oh, cause the heart my LBP level still only has Geeting Trophies list as your levels to heart. Might want to PM Sega.

Hopefully, the LBP servers will be up for me tonight so I can try some of these levels (I've tried several of them - but didn't make it to yours yet.)

Cym, I think working in 3 depths might be why people are having issues with my level. I have no problem manually switching planes. Im thinking this might be some hidden thing people dont know about.

LBP is so messed up with it's tracking. I have friends that have played my levels - heck, they played it with me, and their scores don't show up on my friend's scores.

I think the LBP servers are so jacked up there is no telling if the numbers are correct or not.

That could be true, i get failed to upload score quite frequently. Thats why im waiting for some of you peeps to play it and let me know how it is and if its too challenging. Maybe I should put a banner over my level.

FREE BEER AND BOOBS
Only if you finish this level

I have a good idea for how to achieve that effect, as well as the house in the twister effect.

I can see you having a lot of lead in time. But really, it sounds like you've a really fun project.

I'm slowly plodding away at my Puzzle Wheels level. It is fairly complicated design process with lots of variables to consider.

One thing creating Puzzle Wheels has done for me - it has made a lot more comfortable working within the 3 depths. I was able to work much more quickly when creating The Great Race, and this new Puzzle Wheel level is a lot more intricate (in some areas) then my Puzzle Wheels that crashed.

One Puzzle Wheel has you leaving the Wheel while it's moving to hop into the wall flip a switch which opens and lights up other areas on/in the Puzzle Wheel. It can get quite chaotic keeping track of where, what and when things are supposed to be getting triggered (and stop the person from accidentily going somewhere they aren't supposed to.)

I'm not sure, but I think the Puzzle Wheels are a bigger brain teaser for me than for the eventual player.
So, uh, what's your tips for making a house in a twister?

I've realized I don't really build around the 3 dimensions at all. When building my levels I think I always treat it like its just one plane, and the only time the multiple planes come into play is when I feel like adding stuff, and have to decide whether it will be flat up against the background, or stick out a bit, taking up the back plane.

I'll put an ETA of the first level of the Wizard of Oz for sometime in February. I really want to spend a lot of time raising my own personal bar, using the planes for puzzles, and taking the detail level up several notches.

One thing about not being able to make long levels for each person (Sc, Tin, Lion) is that if I end up trying to make it very detailed, I may run out of space, and then not feel bad about the level not being very long... assuming it looks good enough to feel like it was a good tradeoff (short great looking level vs very long rubbish looking one).

you can just build the tornado and put the house inside it on a spin bolt. The house will go upside down opposed to around in circles... but it will be the same in the end.

What about a wobble bolt that violent turns the house back and forth?

I haven't used bolts much... are wobble bolts even powered?

that might work too... depends on what you're going for... I think either could work. You could put it on a wobble bolt and 2 rods so it goes back and forth and wobbles... Then it might look more real... that's what I'd do... I think that will work...

I'll have to PM you on it. I'm trying to think of an easy way to explain it. Sure wish I could just pop into creator mode with you and give you a crude demonstration of my theoretical twister and house in a twister premise.

The house in a twister will probably be a large part of your level - but it should be fun to make.

Like I said, my first try creating Puzzle Wheels taught me a LOT. Which really help with the Great Race that had very specific needs since the players raced in 3 seperate fields. The thin layer can be tricky sometimes but very useful in creating illusions (giving your scenery more depth with out adding any.) Also, you learn which objects exist in the thin layer. My small LED lights on the Power Balls prevented me from placing any objects in the thin layers because the LED lights exist in those thin layers. That's why the Light Cycles (the dark Power-Balls, and yes, I stole that term from Tron) - have sunken lights - that way I could place glass, fences, etc. in the thin layer.

I think that is wise to put the ETA far way - give yourself room to breath and sit and think.

As for getting the most of your space - I may post a general "tips" guide on the lessons I've learned about keeping themometer space down. I still get frustrated with the limitations, but I was basically able to create "most" of what I wanted in the Great Race without being limited too much.

Most of it you've probably learned for yourself by now. I don't know why, but I just keep adding to my levels (either in scale or detail) - until the themometer won't let me. It's a horrible habit - don't pick it up.

I learned similar lessons about the thin planes when working on my last couple levels. For example, in Chaplin, the part where you have to spin the globe around, I was a bit annoyed that the detail of the globe wasn't showing up (it looked like a black circle), so I attached a light to the center of the globe, to light up the sticker, allowing you to see the oceans/continents. Then, when I put it back in it's stand, the light sort of serves as a stopper, to hold the globe up slightly in the stand, instead of it sinking all the way too the bottom.

In your case, with the wheels, I can imagine it might have been frustrating/disappointing to rule out being able to use the thin layers, because of the lights on the wheels, but I suppose the sacrifice had to be made for the sake of the wheels.

I look forward to any tips on the twister, and on conserving the thermometer as well.

Keep in mind that when you view level stats, it doesn't show 1, 2x, 3x and 4x scores all at once, only the top 10 of ONE of those categories. If 10 or more friends have played it, it will show top 10 friends scores. Otherwise, it will show the top 10 scores in that category overall...BUT...it won't combine 1, 2x, 3x and 4x categories in one list, so you really can't use scores to determine how many people played.

Good question. I'm not really sure what it is. It's triangular, and black. I think it was called dog nose though.

If you have it, it should automatically be showing up as a switch trigger. I'll try to figure out where you get it within the story mode.

Not really in response to what you just posted, but just a note to say I finally got around to playing your Lost level. I liked that it was actually somewhat lengthy, instead of a quick little 5 second thing. I also really liked how the characters came out, so I may end up trying to copy that idea (dressing up sackboys, taking pictures of them, and then pasting the pictures onto some material, and then cut them to form).

Any tips for how you shaped the sack people? Was it just a slow process of trimming around the sticker?
