ok because I have everything from the first 3 locations.

I also really liked how the characters came out, so I may end up trying to copy that idea (dressing up sackboys, taking pictures of them, and then pasting the pictures onto some material, and then cut them to form).

Any tips for how you shaped the sack people? Was it just a slow process of trimming around the sticker?
Thanks! I just added a polar bear that can be shot with the paintinator, rearranged much of the level to accommodate that, and renamed it "LOST island" instead of "LOST - 1.1" too. The number 1.1 was supposed to be the episode #(season 1, episode 1), not update #(v1.1) but it confused many people. Also, I'm taking a break from the LOST series. I want to try to make something new and maaaaybe do a LOST sequel later. It's that damn smoke monster!

As for character design...

- take photos on a solid background with good lighting (natural light in blank template works fine
- use stickers to change clothing and hair colors, don't worry about the back like you would on a costume you would play in, it's just a photo sticker
- if you want facial expressions, go to play mode to take the pic. this may seem obvious, but I forgot several times and the arrows have totally diff functions in create mode
- make the polystyrene HUGE while you're cutting to get more detail, then shrink it down to size later
- once the sticker is on poly, you can still edit. I cut away flowers in hair, made a t-shirt and blue headscarf into a black hoodie by cutting away the scarf ties, made hurley fatter, and gave charlie a guitar
- copy the poly w/ sticker and put it 1 depth level behind the one you're cutting. on tricky areas like under arms and between legs cut away more poly than you need to, then add it back in, using the uncut one behind as a template. for a better view in this part, press start and "front view"
- the teardrop shape is the MOST VERSATILE shape to cut with since it has a point, outward curve and inward curve. use other shapes occasionally too, but 87% of cuts can be easily done w/ teardrop
- save VERY often, "save as..." works even better for some reason
- don't take on too many characters! I've done 12 of the original 14 characters so far, and every time I go in my workshop, I can't stand the sight of boone and shannon. I just don't wanna cut them out anytime soon

We want the Smoke Monster Stephie. . . . make it happen!

Some great tips on character design, btw.

actually, cymbol...a couple hours ago I put my 12 characters in prize bubbles in my unpublished workshop, in a disolvable pocket activated by a sticker trigger to which only I have the sticker key, in hopes that YOU might be persuaded into collaborating or taking over the smoke monster race segment.
I also tried the gas emitters before you suggested it, along with at least 10 more creations, but have concluded that creating a moving, hi-speed chasing, non-cheesey looking smoke monster is just beyond my many talents.
If you'd like to collaborate, I have other ideas to fill the rest of the level. If you'd like to take over this particular "episode" you can use my characters and I'll link it with a key. If you don't want to, then no smoke monster!
have you re-played it since I added the polar bear?

No - I haven't retried the level since the polar bear addition.

I would love to collaborate - but not make an entire new level. Unfortunately, we can not co-create - other wise, I would go into your level and see if I could get my idea to work. I might do a quick throw away level and try it out - if I get it to work effectively - I'll show you (by leaving all the emitters, proximity triggers visible, etc.)

I actually think it wouldn't be "too" difficult. So, I might try a crude set up and see if it would work.

But I definitely can not create a sequel to your level - I'm too obsessive and I would take forever making it. However, if I were to do a sequel - it would end right at the end of Season 2 - now that would be fun to make. (But I'm not gonna!)

I'm still trying to plug away at my Puzzle Wheel level. It is quite complicated keeping things simple. (Wrap your brain around that one! )

Not enough time in the day - playing other people's levels, trying to make my own, etc. I need about a month off of work to catch up on all the things in LBP.

You could do it after your Madonna homage. (Have you started on the Madonna level?)
Yes, Madonna is finally started, I always start more than one, that way depending on the mood I'm in, I can create in that way. But, I can't decide whether to Recreate a tour, or just use her Videos for inspiration... She does some awesome stuff for her tours. Like American Life was very different... Youtube it!

What I was thinking for Alice was getting a bunch of people to make one storyline, and then everybody creating their own take on it, since it's so imaginative. Or if not, I'll just make multiples myself. I just don't have a lot of time these days what with the baby and all

So - we each take part of the story? Most parts of the story aren't "level" material. I think Alice is really just a single level story.

If you guys want - we could each do our own Alice in Wonderland single level - and then compare them for fun - see what each person's take on it was.

But I'm like you - I don't have a whole lot of time either - and while I'd love to have a little level creating contest - Alice in Wonderland isn't quite a passion project for me. But if we got more then 10 players or so, I'd jump in.

After my Puzzle Wheels level - I'm up in the air as to what I might try next. I could do a sequel to The Great Race or Puzzle Wheels - or do an original level I've been considering (based on movies).

"X" adds material and triangle cuts, right? once you play around with it more, you'll notice that if you cut too much material away, you can add material back to the main shape. as long as part of the new addition overlaps the original shape, it will appear seemless...even the sticker!
with this in mind, put an uncut duplicate behind the poly shape you're going to cut. then on areas where it's too hard to cut a certain shape, cut out MORE than you need to cut, then add material back to the shape. you can see how much and where to add material back by looking at the uncut duplicate behind. that's your template.

Well, I'm about done with the first 3 puzzle wheels. I'm considering stopping there - I'm thinking it might be too much for some people to make many more.

So, the question is - do I stop here and publish - or create an option to go to the scoreboard or continue on to 2/3 more Puzzle Wheels to become a Puzzle Wheel Master?

I don't really want to make a sequel but at the same time, I'm worried that if I provide an "early out", many people will take that option and my other creations/work won't even be seen by the majority of people.

What should I do guys?

EDIT - I probably need to get one of you to try it. But it is extremely difficult to do with 2 people. (Dying offscreen doesn't work because each time to Puzzle Wheel comes back around, the 2nd player respawns - sure if you do it enough times the spawns run out, but then you have that annoying warning bell going off the entire time.)

Ok - I just need one more night (maybe two to double check and make sure all emitters work when needed - I have emitters emit blocks to keep you from accidentilly back-tracking on certain areas.) I want you to test a version that is as close to "finished" as I can get it.

Can I send you a key? I thought I had to put it in a level.

If I have to put it in a level - I'll just put it in the Hidden Room in The Great Race.

Alright, I hope to finish polishing the level tonight/tomorrow (for the 3 Puzzle Wheels).

The question I need answered is: would you be willing to do more - or would it be "too much" for one level.

Thanks Stephie, I'll hit you up soon.

Alright - sounds good. (It's already published locked - I'm using that as my backup to prevent losing my level due to crashes since creating a copy on my moon takes up my alloted space limitations - which I think is stupid. )

Cool - you'll be the first to know when it's ready. Thanks - hope you don't get motion sickness easily.

Yes, but that could be good or bad! You get to be the glitch finder and be the first to bruise my fragile ego. What will I do if you don't like it?

(Insert Toy Story Dinosaur voice here) - I don't think I can take that kind of rejection!

Alright, I'll check when I get home from work.

That's exactly what I meant, since everybody can really have their own take on Alice, since it's such an imaginative world

Well, if about 10 other people want to join in - I'll join. But if it's just 3 of us or something, it wouldn't be much of a comparison/game.

Maybe you should start a seperate thread and see who is interested if you want to try something like this.
