Well, to be fair, I feel you're giving them "a get out of jail free card" again. I think LBP's sales were under what they were expecting/hoping - so if they release a game that is about creating and sharing and say, "Whoa! We didn't actually expect everyone to do it!" is really short-sighted: Imagine if this game had performed like everyone had expected; imagine how many more levels/objects/created stickers would now be available. (Btw, I think sales are good - but I think we can agree it wasn't quite what was predicted).

As for the severe space limitations - I don't really understand why people can't use their hard-drives. Most people have a 40gig hard-drive or larger, much larger.

Anyway, I don't want to fill the thread with LBP bashing - but I feel like some of you would rather list "work-arounds" or brush off valid issues than keeping the heat on MM to fix what wasn't provided in the first place and fix new glitches that have been introduced.

Several people from this small thread have already quit or are planning to quit the game soon because of these issues. I hate to see that people are being chased away.

Btw, one thing that is not a glitch that I desperately wish MM would include - ingame music during creation mode. Listening to wind and dogs barking gets really old. (And no, I'm not interested in listening to the game music). I REALLY, REALLY want this!!!

im gonna counter a few of your points here though it may not be in order


first off i mentioned specifically the items given ( nothing about created levels ) 2 different beasts i cant tell you how many of those stupid ass trophies i had when that was the rage for everyone to hand out .. it is just insane how much useless crap people gave you in levels ( between collecting bubbles and end level rewards ) they surely didnt anticipate that people would constantly give out other peoples awards cause they thought it was cool or whatever .. no lie when i had to clear out my community objects for hte MGS save issue it literally took me about 20 mins to do so ...
so yeah i cut them slack for not expecting that kind of scenario .. just plain creating levels has NOTHING to do with that aspect .. created levels are on MM;s servers .. doesnt effect our profile thing at all ...

and about giving them a free pass .. look at it like this ..
a game of this magnitude and style is no easy feat .. and surely things they couldnt foresee being an issue became one .. but ya know what ?? they created an incredibly addicting and awesome game that is very unique from everything out there .. so if eveyone just bashes the devs casue they think everything should be perfect from the get go .. guess what happens .. these same guys say .. " ya know we have a great unique game idea ... BUT it may be tough to pull off and there may be some initial issues well need to iron out " " well maybe we sjhouldnt bother as the masses will just be all over us for releasing a "broken" game ." " bah nevermind lets make another WWII FPS " .....

I just fail to see the benefits of combining all the topics into one thread. It makes searching for information difficult and thread titles won't apply to 90% of the thread's content. I already brought up this issue with the new mods. Don't get me wrong Shin-ra it's great having you here. You always have plenty of useful information and you're fair. This is just one of your practices I think the board would benefit from if it died off.

They didn't/couldn't have expected people to give away objects/stickers in their levels? That's kind of a big part of creating a level and inticing people to play and rewarding them.

And it remains a HUGE issue when I can't save my created levels because my profile is full from items collected. Everytime I go try community levels I'm stuck going through and deleting every object I collected because I won't be able to save during creation mode.

Whether people put good collectible objects in their levels is objective (although I tend to agree most of it is cr@p). But one's man's trash is another man's treasure and vice versa.

Sorry - but "sharing" was part of the basic gameplay and one of the selling points of this game.

I understand there will be issues they find along the way - but the some of the parts that were broken were things like the counter etc. that were supposed to be part of the initial build. So, not only have initial issues been fixed, along with other discovered glitches, but new glitches are being introduced (as happened with the MGS pack seemed to introduce 100% save issues, white screens and capture issues in creation mode).

So, in your scenario they want to knowingly release a broken game but don't want to bother cause they'll get flamed?

Either way, you're scenario is a bit dramatic and over the top. Almost every game released has had online issues - that's almost a given. I get the server issues (even though they said a month ago it was "fixed"). But there are many, many other issues that haven't been resolved that are part of the gameplay.

(Again, I didn't even go through all the other glitches in creation mode, like placing a switch - then going into play mode and it's gone. )

I'm one of the biggest supporters/fan of the game - but I don't want to continue to find "work-arounds" for these issues.

We can agree that the game is fantastic. However, you seem willing to accept any and all glitches/issues simply based on how great the other parts work. I'm not.

That's interesting caliblue - does that mean you had gotten a reward from someone else's level that you were using? Hadn't considered that potential ripple effect.

Yep, I was told it was a Tank, and a Bat that was in the level, that had been moderated from other levels, they gave me the level back, told me to change that, and that my level would be republished, which it was.

It is up now if you want to go play it..

While its intent could be wrong.. I don't see how the bat itself could be trademarked...

If they want that they have over 1000 gundam trademark violations.. do a search for gundam.. some folks even recreated the old zakus.. and mobile suits...

I think it was the fact that the level was moderated... I think anything custom created in a moderated level cannot be used anywhere...

That and they were just prizes for beating the level...

While I 100% understand this rediculous nanny state of the game, its really really annoying. The E for everyone rating really makes difficult to make anything that could be somewhat offensive to some whiney crabby dbag. It stinks they locked your level some items that are not offensive, but are were in an offensive level.

To me that is not enough rationalle.. to me anyway.. that is a very creative thought process..

You have a lot of catching up to do - there are lots of levels made by forum members since you've been gone - I expect a report on what you thought about ALL OF THEM, by tomorrow evening.

Yeah, that was kinda why I asked. I'm not sure you can hold this against MM in general except for not letting us know - but I bet that the items are tagged with their origination level so when they mod the level it mods any "work product" from the level.

So we all need to be aware that we could use a harmless "Hello" sticker from a racist, offensive level and our levels could be modded through association.

And before anyone says that MM shouldn't do it that way - consider the reverse possibility - someone puts a pornographic pic of a famous star on their level as a sticker (a pic of someone never seen naked before no less) - in a situation like that, the sticker could propigate out to hundreds of levels before MM reigns it in. That could cause a lot of work for them to seek out and stop - following the products of the level automatically make a lot more sense. This way, as soon as the level comes up on their radar, they stop anything from the offending level from spreading.

Just would have been nice if we had known that right away. I guess the lesson learned is to not use any user created prizes in your levels unless you're sure you trust the creator not to get their level banned.

I had to delete all but like 3 items out of my community items before I could save my game again. On the bright side I didn't get the white screen or the PS3 reset.

I have found on the white screen if you hit the PS button to go to the XMB then press it again to return to the game it unfreezes it.
