Multiple reports from the field have arrived in Planetoid Central this evening to tell us that patch 1.08 has hit the servers, several weeks earlier than expected. This patch, also nicknamed Edam by Media Molecule (at least we assume this is edam, it could be an unknown cheese!), should contain a whole bunch of bug fixes, some of which are fairly major ones that have been causing trouble left, right, and center for the last few weeks.

Due to some planitary alignment issues, we have yet to establish communications and update, and so actual content is so far unconfirmed - Let’s hope everything is fixed now though huh?

The outlined plans for this patch are listed below, let us know what is and isn’t included!

Edam contains a set of bug fixes and is currently in testing. Specifically the fixes are:

* Failed to save profile’ message not being displayed when a users profile is full.
* Object Capture Bug: switch connectors being deleted when an object is captured.
* Failed to load profile issue :where the user is thrown out to the XMB due to a texture that is not registered in their profile being present in their pod.
* Text not displaying in the text chat window.
* Slow rewind due to moderation check.
* Save file corruption which caused the game to crash when placing any object in an emitter in any level.

Thanks to everyone who sent this in!

http://www.littlebigplanetoid.com/ar...am_is_live_now

Update:

It looks like this patch could just be related to the forthcoming availability of the God of War costume pack, and not as we all hoped the much needed changes to the game. It’s waaaay past our bed time here on the planetoid, hopefully the morning will bring with it some clarification!

Wow, even their update is misleading if you don't already know about the other costumes due in the coming weeks.

The Chinese New Year costumes are available in Europe, NOW!

I wonder if this means that once its patch my LittleBigPlanet disc will start working again?

I mean, it loads LBP, but after 15 minutes I can still move and so on, but the little guy running on the lower left (HD reading), it still spins, but the little sackboy disappears. Also all the icons on the world map turn to pink MM buttons.

I know its my disc as I borrowed a co-worker's and it had no issue.

That's cool for the folks in Europe.

I think those are free - so whenever the US gets them I'll take them. No hurry.

But yes, MM have been all over the board with updates, potential updates, updates with no explanation, delays, etc.

I am just patiently waiting for the first batch of updates to include fixes/patches - really excited for them to fine tune this great game with some badly needed fixes.

Really? I looked on there yesterday (latest stuff) and there was nothing for LBP. Is it just in the add-ons section?

Ahh, that would be why I didn't see it then

CYMBOL, I played your Puzzle Wheels level over the weekend (didn't get the failed to load message this time!). Must say I'm more than a little impressed, how did you manage to get such big objects (the wheels) without the 'too complicated' message? There were a couple of bits that got me annoyed though (hey, I can't give you too much praise ). Firstly when jumping into one of the wheels (can't remember which one it was) the gap between the wheel and the ledge you jump off was too big, a couple of times I missed and died (getting into the wheel shouldn't be the hard part ). Next the final wheel when you enter. You grab the thing that pulls you in, but somehow I lost grip and the pistons moved back out again and crushed me to death! Lastly in the '3rd' corner (the one with the flappy firey bits), I got stuck in the end with the switch and my sack person wouldn't go through the gaps to get back out again. I spent a large amount of time running and jumping (and swearing) just trying to get out of the thing just so I could get to the 4th and last part. Just as I was about to quit out I managed it and finished the level and got my 'master' sticker. All in all a very good level with some minor annoyances (that I experienced, others may not), so you get an 'A'.

One thing I will say is that once someone has completed all the 4 wheels I can't see it having a great replayability factor. It's not too difficult but does take quite a while to finish (which is a good thing as far as I'm concerned) which will put people off completing it more than once what with most people wanting quick fix levels. But hopefully word will get around to at least try the level and see what can be achieved with a little effort.

Don't forget the Chinese New Years Costumes are available for 10 days only. I think they may still be downloadable in your download history after that though.

Thank you very much for giving it a try.

I learned to "cut them up". So, take a very large circle, then cut it in fours and then paste it back together. That way, each quarter can be manipulated extensively without the "too complicated" message. Although even then you may need to cut again depending on how much detail you want.

I appreciate the feedback - good or bad.

Oh, it's not - only for some people. Seriously though, for reasons I won't bother detailing here - the wheels are stuck where they are. But I will definitely keep that in mind for Puzzle Wheels II. (Although, pulleys were added to help "get in" to wheels 3 and 4). I do realize it is a bit difficult. Not everyone can be like me and jump in the first time every time.

Hmmm, I thought I had fixed that the first day - no one else has complained since. I'll check into it again - thanks for the heads up. It is definitely not supposed to be a danger item.

I was considering making this part easier by adding a pulley - however, all the feedback seems to be that people really found the centrifugal force very cool and a challenge to battle. I found it interesting that LBPs physics engine was so fine tuned to account for this. So, based on feedback - the challenge remains. Although I do know that it is a significant challenge.

I definitely feel that anyone who gets the "Puzzle Wheel Master" photo deserves it. It's not an easy level.

I had a couple of guys battling it out to get first place on the board. (They currently rank #1 and #2.) But I agree - it's a one or two time experience - but hopefully an experience they haven't had on any other level. I just wanted to make something that was my own original creation. I expected people to hate it - but I've been very pleasantly surprised to get rave reviews in my comments section. (Most of them probably a bit overblown on their praise).

I appreciate that you took the time to post your thoughts on the level. Thank you.

Haha! No kidding! Sometimes, I get exhausted just contemplating starting some projects.

I'm not sure how "easy" creating levels is for other people, but it is a lot of work for me.

In fact, I was just about to post this, which relates heavily to your statement.

Hey guys,

Need your help. I've been designing 3 levels at once cause I'm in a bit of a creative funk. So, I seem to have settled down on "Puzzle Wheels II - Wheels Gone Wild".

Just finished the first wheel - "The Marvelous Maze of Myriad Mayhem"

You can get a sense of the scale by looking at me in one part of the wheel. (I'm at the bottom of the cresent moon).

So, I have one more idea (that I'm not even sure will work) - but I'm kind of stuck. I want at least 3 wheels.

Anybody have any creative ideas they want to impart with me?

WARNING: Of course if you put them on the forum, obviously you are saying it's ok for me to take and use, but also anyone else who reads these pages. So, if you are even considering using the idea for yourself one day, please don't post.

Anyway, and thoughts (no matter how outlandish) - please throw them out. I am creatively stuck and would appreciate any inspiration any fellow players/creators can provide. (Please don't be offended if I don't use your idea if you decide to put it out there - I may simply read about it and get inspiration for something completely different, I just don't know.)

Thanks again to anyone who contributes. I appreciate it.

Maybe make a continent themed wheel. Have American, European, Asian, and African sections. Not sure how to make them puzzely though. Maybe add things from cultures of the area, like ATMs for America, or man eating animals for Africa.

Just when I thought the latest patch would solve my issue, what happens? I go in and edit my level and when I go to 'Return to Pod' it times out.

Now all I get a black screen.

I decided to post pics of how everything looks before it crashed on me.
